Hunting Dimes for Silver - Best Dime Box Ever!

- Decided to give Dimes another go (Thanks for the inspiration Diggin Dave!) I have found only 2 out of 12 boxes this year and I am determined to find at least 1 MORE silver in a box before year’s end...
Join me in my hunt and let’s see if this BOX of dimes ($250) will yield another Silver or two (or more... wink wink), or just another skunking...
I’ve had so much luck with Pennies and Nickels here that I was optimistic about Dimes but the going has been rough...
In my last few dime hunts, I have not found ANY SLIVER coins out of more than $1000 searched in dimes! I did find a silver dime in 2 of the previous 5 boxes AND I found one in a coinstar machine!
How is your luck with Dimes?

WOW - Dimes are NOT dead afterall! Picked up a dime box today (thanks to Diggin Dave's video which inspired me) and I found my best dime box ever!!! Enjoy and Happy Hunting!

I'm a cashier and started looking for silver in my dimes last week and found 2. (1954, 1959 D)
started a new job last month and found 6 in the register my first day (1947S 1948D 1953D 1952D 1958D 1960D)

I work at a gas station and a customer bought something with change they handed me 19 silver dimes in their handful of change. Needless to say I immediately had my coworker watch me put $2 in my till and keep the dimes for myself most of them are in really good shape one of them looks like somebody was chewin on it or somethin but other than that total score!

Rob, I've been a coin collector since the mid 1960's. Sure wish that i had kept all the silver then, everything was silver.
Been doing serious CRH now since 2011. My best box was about in 2015 when i got a MWR bank box, had 98 silvers: 65-mercs, 33-rosies. Just wish that i was there at the bank when they were dumped in the coin machine, and bought the bag, would have been hundreds.
Just yesterday 12/14/23, got a bank MWR box of dimes, pulled 7- rosies. Not exactly like the ole days, but they are still out there.

Isn’t this the beauty of putting these videos out here. Even months later, people can still learn and enjoy from them. I just picked up a dime box yesterday and am planning to search it. I went to 3 different branches to try to get some halves but they didn’t have any (I ordered a box from one of them). I love 90% dimes so I am anxious to get started. Thanks for the great video Rob.

More than two years ago... great to see your earlier hunts!
So been saving change for some time and I always go thru it and find wheats or what ever else that is worth holding on too. Yesterday I bought my first roll of quarters to search and I got lucky. Sitting in there was a 1954 quarter. How cool is that for my first roll. Too bad it can't be like that every time. I'm diggin you're channel and keep them videos coming!!

I’m a bank teller, and when a customer wants to cash in their charge the other tellers know to send them my way, because I’m always looking for silver or any different coins. A customer came in the other day with rolled and loose change, he went to the teller next to me and of course I immediately said that I would do it, boy was I glad I did. When he switched to my window I jokingly ask him before I even took a good look at what he had, if he had any silver to which he said no, he had $3.00 in loose dimes all were silver, 7 silver nickels and $3.00 in silver quarters, I thought to myself well he doesn’t know anything about coins. I quickly counted what he had so I could open up the rolls, all the rolls were mostly all silver or 50% to 75% silver, I ended up with $67.55 worth of silver. I truly think he found these coins in the house they had just purchased , the wrappers were very old and the container dusty and rusty. I have also found some very rare star notes on slow days I’m always searching.

Both of you made me feel much better about my own hunting as of late, I typically hunt 3 boxes of halves and 10 boxes of dimes a week with just 2 or 3 nickels in there if my kids decide to hunt with me. I almost always find 10 dimes a week but nearly 0 halves and on a few war nicks and a buffalo. I guess it’s all about where you live, they stole all the halves around here but forgot the dimes. Hats off to you fellas.
Awesome finds! I hadn't found silver dimes after my summer hot streak. for 8 boxes no silver, but I got $70 in hand rolled dimes and found a 64 D and a 63 D in those. And the day after I found those I found canadian silver dime in a coin machine. So 4 months with no silver dimes, then 2 days in a row with 3 silvers. Dimes are very streaky for me.
Agreed - I was 0 for 6, then went 2 for 6, then 0 for 5 and now BAM! So fun when you find them but so frustrating after a few boxes and you get nothing. That's CRH though so Happy Hunting! Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!

Rob, have watched a couple of your videos, just became subscriber #501! I REALLY appreciate the fact that you can admit you have done 12 boxes of dimes and only found three silvers in them, and that your perseverance has finally paid off with this 4 silver box. A certain other coin roll you tuber seems to ALWAYS get TONS of SILVER halves, dimes, nickels or whatever in EVERY Box the pair does. My first box of halves I did 6 months ago had bumpkiss in it, (didn't even post the video) but I tried again a few weeks ago and Bingo, one 64 90%er and 2 1967 40%ers along with 11 Not for circulation halves that looked proof shiny!
Just finished my 3rd box of pennies and my first 2 Nickels boxes (got my first silver nickel in #2)

You bet, my next order I may try my first box of dimes! I've done 2 boxes of nickels now, finding one Buffalo and one war silver, but they are only 35% compared to finding a 90% dime, so I think I'll try a box of dimes soon!

Just went thru 600 dimes (12 rolls) and found two 2009-P dimes. Very pleased, now to try and find the 2009-D!

Nice finds. We got $200 in dimes (they wouldn't sell us a whole box, they were almost out!) and we found FIVE silvers over the course of $200. Then we went to another branch, got a box, and it had 3! Dimes are on fire, I think we'll give it another go, next time at the bank.

I went to the bank with a friend to buy rolls. I bought two halves boxes and he bought 11 rolls of pennies a customer brought in. I got four 40% and four 90% all 64. He got a full roll of Indian head pennies. The luck some people have.
I've only ever searched one dime roll. Was one of the three rolls I went through on my first hunt.
One roll each of quarters, nickels and dimes. The dime roll had a 51 Roosevelt. Beginners luck I guess.

I collect coins, and the oldest penny I found in a box is a 1902 indian head penny

I went to a bank got one roll and there was a 1963 this was about a year back now I know how lucky.
I’m from a small town that is full of old people so I get like 2- 3 silvers per box
I have 413 silver American dimes. I collect most silver coins when I have time. I live in Canada so I do not get as much American as I would like though.

im on a hunt as of this moment and i guess im a bit lucky because i found 2 5 dollar rolls full of dimes of 1964 and older, can you tell me if this is rare, im pretty new to the hobby. The box i got was a $250 box.

Wells Fargo is the worst place to get coin rolls from, they are distributed by Garda armored service. The best that i have found is Loomis.
More silver half dollars than dimes?
I got a 1964 D Rosie in my latest dime rolls... in the middle of butt fuck nowhere Canada. I think it was one of the branches in Burns Lake. Good finds by the way;)

In the condition I find them in? Not much more than face value. BUT, they can be worth 4-8X FV if they are in good condition.

i found one 2009 dime in my change but i cant seem to find any 2009 nickels in my change :(
You may have to coin roll hunt for those 2009 nickels, they are really hard to come by.
Just looked through a box of dimes and got a 1992 P (low mint) and 1969 P (low mint) that’s it😂
I prefer hunting costumer wrapped dimes, I bought $800 worth of costumer wrapped dimes, and found 7

Hey man, how get so many boxes. Does your bank have a coin machine? None of the banks around me have those :( so i either have to give away my 9% or re-roll myself. Also what do you use to film?
My coin machine is my son - I pay him 5% of whatever he rolls AND dumps at the bank for me! I am only using my iPhone to film (LOL) but my camera is broke so it's getting me by for now! Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!

So you soaked the 1964 in a little bit of soapy water and probably just rinsed it off under the sink, big whoop. I don't consider that cleaned, and LCSs would do more than that to make a coin more presentable...
Must be nice to find silver. My bank makes the tellers go through the change and pull all the silver and they have no shame about it. 😐
Is going to do my one sleeve of Dimes from safe help bank and found a coin that says two on the front grosz e it's gold on the back there's an eagle and it says Z PCGS pollita Polska 2005 the eagle has two Wings two legs and its tail looks like a scorpion the whole cold coin is gold would it just a tad of what appears to be copper near the Eagles beak and it looks like a double headed dragon to me

KK Gamer There are none. 90% through 1964 and then 0%. Half dollars from 1965-1970 contain 40%.
