It is soooo wonderful to see and hear about African Americans who are embracing their roots and returning to Africa. It doesn't matter what country - just the fact that this generation has the nerve and get-up-and-go attutide to actually leave this sometimes "hell hole" called the USA. As my ancestors were dropped off the slave ships into the Caribbean (specifically Jamaica) I've traveled to Europe and throughout the Caribbean. However, my family has been in the USA for 4 generations but I'm ready to retire and instead of returning to Jamaica I'm seriously considering moving to Ghana. I'm pretty sure that my 401(k) and investments will allow me to live a more comfortable life in Ghana. I commend this young woman on moving back - that took a lot of guts at your age, I congratulate you on your marriage and I wish all of you who move back the best of luck.
Thank you for representing my beautiful country, which is now you New country too,the best way.I'm so far from home and being your new subscriber,I'm glad to follow you and see my beautiful Namibia through your videos.God bless you and thank you girl.
I really appreciate these vids that you put out. They make me feel like I've made the trip to Namibia. I'd love to go there one day. Anywhere in Africa to be honest.
Thanks for replying, very insightful. Based on what you've told me. I'd be living very comfortable on my current u.s wages ( which have me living very modest here) lol
+michelle jenkins Hi you can move here anytime, I am in South Africa and I can assist you with any information that can help you to any African country.
Thank you for this. It puts a lot in perspective. I moved from Los Angeles to Florida. A lot of these prices are consistent with what I am currently paying. I must take a vacation to Namibia.
thanks again. I will be moving to Senegal Dakar in 3 years. I am trying to sale my house here in the state and waiting for my daughter to graduate high school all of that is in 3 years time. basically 36 months
WOW...the cost of living compared to the ridiculous prices that we pay for here in the state is so much lower. I know that things move much slower their than it does here, but sounds worth it. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more videos.
+Alicia Peck i think the prices being lower is relative. let me give example with a house cleaner, average salary is R3000+/_ can be as low as R1500 in south africa, not sure about namibia. So essentially for them buying chuck for R89 is quite expensive. im not sure what the currency difference between namibia and south africa is, lazy to search, but last time i checked i think they were equal. so for lower income people the prices are quite hectic
+Mampe Tema I agree, you make a good point and it is something she mentions in the video that a great number of people cannot afford those items...its like that here in the states as well. If you are in the lower income bracket you just cannot afford certain things that someone in the middle class can and for them the price can be expensive and out of of reach. it would be interesting to see a video on what the income bracket is and the job opportunities are....
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I've watched all of your videos in the last 2 days. Congratulations on your new marriage and beautiful baby.
great videos! insightful & informative. I live in Germany now and will be for at least 3 years, 5 if I extend. However, my long term goal is to eventually move to Africa. please keep the vids coming!
You know this is not just for African Americans, i am a Namibian who been away from home for 8 years and this video gives me what to really expect in terms of living standards, definitely subscribing. Thank you
Thank you for this video. I live in the Bahamas, which is in the top 5 most expensive places to live in the entire world. I am planning to visit Africa.
Please also take into account the average monthly salary in Namibia, which is about N$6,000.00 (many Namibians also earn a lot less than this), which is also almost equivalent to monthly rental in Windhoek for a 1 bedroom apartment. I know it all seems affordable because of the exchange rate :)
Miss, this sounds misleading. Although in US it appears cheaper however when you compare N$ "dollar for dollar" it's actually more expensive there unless the populace has a lot of spending power and they make a good salary, I wonder if this is the case.
Wow! Even on my fixed income I can afford to move here. I get about $1,300 from the VA. That's not much in NYC. Namibia looks so tranquil. It's the Bronx that's a jungle. Anyway, I'm tempted.
Each country has a min monthly amount that they want outsiders to bring with them. I'm an American living in South Africa and can tell you I read that they want people to be making around 30,000 plus rands a month, but that may have changed. You need to do some major research on it all before moving. That amount your making is actually close to that 30 mark I mentioned, as the exchange rate is much higher now days. God bless.....
I NEED TO GO BACK HOME... MOTHER AFRICA!!!! Wish us African Americans knew of heritage, but I'm studying and just started saving now at 30years old.. hopefully by 37 or 40 I will have enough to by land in the suburbs somewhere on Mother Africa...
I have a 2k monthly income, and I pay 1500 for everything. I order groceries online off of PeaPod.com. Summer is about 150 per month cheaper, since I do not have to heat this 890 sq ft. 2 bedrooms.
ok can you maybe make a video or maybe answer here on " Where do I start if I want to relocate to Namibia??? " It's just so overwhelming and I am also looking into South Africa do you know anything about that country compare to Nambia for expats? thank you
+Perfected & Completed Queen i can help with some of your south african questions, it depends what you mean by technology and education, is it a sort of a qualification?
+Perfected & Completed Queen Ive been looking at leaving the country for a little while now. Mainly South American countries, but I LOVE South Africa! I really liked Capetown & Durban. Ive got a MFA & I teach at a University now....and its cool.....but life is soo much sweeter out there! Ive been 3 times so far. If I can just figure out the employment thing, then im good. When you figure it out, let me know!
+Perfected & Completed Queen Hi! In my next video I will give my personal advice on relocating, career-wise. What is your speciality in the tech field? In education, check out the following article, as the Namibian government is considering reaching out to foreign teachers to ease the teacher shortage, particularly at rural schools: 'Shortage of teachers dogs education ministry' (New Era Newspaper). I will share more advice in my next video!
Hi there love. What were your vlogs about before coming to The Land of the Brave? I'm glad you are adapting well. Try going to the south of Keetmashop. Natural is really stunning beautiful and people are more welcoming too.
All this comments how cheap living costs are puzzle me. The prices of most services are comparable to the costs in Europe. But here we get higher speed or more minutes. Food is also nearly the same price. Not sure how much you can earn there but I guess it is less than in Europe.
heh. multichoice has the same packages on this side of the border. i wish we had metered water here tho. *sigh* my tenants would probably cease to give me nightmares if such a thing existed. i used to hate prepaid electricity because everywhere i lived before south africa, pre-paid meters meant you were poor, as opposed to almost everyone having them. [i do have friends who have postpaid meters, but they are few and far between] i want the prepaid meter out of my house sooooo bad ... but i must admit that i do plan my life around what i want my meter usage to be. [R500 a week for five adults]
+Robert Crawford Hey Rob, interesting, thanks for sharing! And yes, so much here comes right from SA, not surprised about the Multichoice package similarity. Too many repeating shows on some stations though :/
Hi there! In the town I live in no, not really. Once in a while it does happen though for a few hours. Now I know in smaller towns and villages (which may not have electricity at all) it definitely can happen more frequently. When I first moved to Namibia I lived in a small town and during the rainy season we had frequent (maybe once a week) power and water outages. When I lived in Namibia's capital it was very rare.
Thank you so much for sharing this info. Wish I could find an American in Kenya on TH-cam who offered similar content. ;) One quick question: are there no unlimited cellphone plans available?
+Keith R. How long have you lived in Kenya? I've visited there a couple of times and have formed a tight bond with a family there. I was asking the mobile info with them in mind.
+Baldwin Villager I believe there are minimum wages for the more manual jobs/'unskilled labor' (eg farming, domestic workers, shop attendants). Average pay varies by profession - but entry level professionals with a 4 year degree on average make around 7000-11,000NAD a month (490-770USD a month). Any Namibians can feel free to add their input here.
This is so informative for me i swear. I have brother schooling in Uganda and he is always asking for me to send him money (together with my 2 other siblings), i was beginning to wonder how expensive is Uganda.
South Africa is the pimped out version of Namibia. taller buildings, more jobs , Entertainment, Internet and service. Cost of living is just a little more.
+Infinite Universe Preach! Unfortunately Namibia STILL has racism (sigh), but I don't fear the police or deal with the never-ending micro-aggressions of corporate America! Refreshing.
+star dust Hi! That's okay! My husband and I live in our own place in a town about 6 hours away from his family, who live in a village. However, we also have a small house built on their land in the village. This is the culture, for a man (esp. a married man) in his tribe - to have a home/structure for he and his family to sleep in when they visit the village.
It is soooo wonderful to see and hear about African Americans who are embracing their roots and returning to Africa. +Oc Millions Thank you, I appreciate my Namibian supporters!
Affordable. When I go to the motherland, I will not be coming back to america. Thanks for the info.
+AARON PAYNE I feel you.
+AARON PAYNE compared to other african countries, Namibia' cost of life is way very expensive. you welcome to africa brother, you welcome home.
I really appreciate these vids that you put out. They make me feel like I've made the trip to Namibia. I'd love to go there one day. Anywhere in Africa to be honest.
Soffy u are welcome
I want to plan to go to africa too. A couple of my cousin went and love it.

+Taurus ramoa That's true! I'm always pleasantly surprised to hear from Namibians abroad :)
Thank you for this video. I live in the Bahamas, which is in the top 5 most expensive places to live in the entire world. I am planning to visit Africa.

wow! it's so affordable there! so much better than USA!
Please also take into account the average monthly salary in Namibia, which is about N$6,000.00 (many Namibians also earn a lot less than this), which is also almost equivalent to monthly rental in Windhoek for a 1 bedroom apartment. I know it all seems affordable because of the exchange rate :)
Very true.
Ok... so the cost of my cable bill alone could pay ALL of my utilities costs????? (Grabs passport, packs suitcase)
LOL I hear you!
Miss, this sounds misleading. Although in US it appears cheaper however when you compare N$ "dollar for dollar" it's actually more expensive there unless the populace has a lot of spending power and they make a good salary, I wonder if this is the case.
The cost of living is much less but is pay much less also
The background music you be using in your videos controls my body and I just can't stop moving to it.
I just want to say that i love your videos, and your very pretty. I wish you could make videos more often but i understand that your busy.
I like your video thank you for the info.

What is the cost of full plot of land in namibia
Hi there love. What were your vlogs about before coming to The Land of the Brave?

how can I invest in Namibia from here in the US? if i am making my living here...investing and moonlighting in Namibia doesn't sound so bad.
Love your channel :)

+Keith R. How long have you lived in Kenya? I've visited there a couple of times and have formed a tight bond with a family there. I was asking the mobile info with them in mind.
peace sista can you do a video on healthcare I have some needs and wonder if they can provide?
+rulondaful Yes, I will add it to my list! Thank you for the suggestion.
you look so radiant and beaming.
+crish rai As a new mom running around in circles after an infant, I really appreciate that :) Thank you!
I am planning on moving to Senegal Dakar I am a nurse. can you give me any ideas on the banking system in west africa
I'm not familiar with it but you could do a Google search for the main banks in Ghana, and check out their websites.
Sorry, not Ghana, Senegal
curious is there a minimum wage? Or what is the avg. pay in Namibia?
+Baldwin Villager I believe there are minimum wages for the more manual jobs/'unskilled labor' (eg farming, domestic workers, shop attendants). I would be pretty well off if I moved there...nice
thank you. i found it.
this is not a cheap prices, believe me.
Is it hard to get over the border? Do they accept anyone ? What are the reqirements for a us citizen to live there permanently?
Apply through Namibian home Affairs department
Next video??
+L Casey (Onetimenarc) on the way!
So they use US dollars in Afrika?
No, every country has different money and the cost of living is different, I think Namibia uses rands or Namibia Dollar.
Inexpensive, compared to the US, is all I can say.
Zimbabwe and South Africa have much cheaper cost of living.
Thank you for staying with this. Love seeing the updates and the persistent happiness you have there. No need for #blacklivesmatter there :-P
+Infinite Universe Preach! Unfortunately Namibia STILL has racism (sigh), but I don't fear the police or deal with the never-ending micro-aggressions of corporate America! Refreshing.
Cost of living there is surprisingly cheaper than the U.S.
I'm confused! Are you no longer living on your husband's in-laws property? Are you together? Sorry to be personal. Maybe I missed some videos?
Are you referring to the house in the village? If you're then they go there when they are visiting family but they live in the city.
+star dust Hi! That's okay! My husband and I live in our own place in a town about 6 hours away from his family, who live in a village.
