As a Namibian i will never live in Windhoek, unless you are super rich its very expensive. Give me Walvis Bay and Swakopmund those are my favorites places to live. Affordable, few people and calm. You can walk to CBD no need of a taxi. Lol, in Windhoek just to leave your house, you need to spend money.

As an American, I was taught of tribes in Africa and such, but never learned how people are now. My husband and I both were very caught off guard when first researching any African countries a few years ago. Africa is also referred to more as one country rather than an entire continent with many of it's own countries... not in schools, but American perception, often.
Anyways, here we are, watching my belly move for the first time with our rainbow baby (life after loss) and researching places to move to give our daughter and any future kiddos a better, safer, more fulfilling life. Once we find one, we will start our journey in learning more languages (more specific to where we're going), and preparing more to get there. So far, Namibia is my favorite I have seen. ❤

Accommodation in Windhoek is expensive. It started to rise in the early 2000s when Angolans came with US$ and whatever the price tenets put up they would pay regardless. It became a trend in different areas of the city. Transport is convenient with okay rates since we live in a small city. Food prices are also high, probably higher than the rest of the Southern countries and we import more from S.A. Internet might also be expensive, but compared to the prices I saw in S.A especially for data, I think we are cheaper.
Everyone's experience is different. I didn't know people thought that eating white pap was seen as a sign of poverty in the North. Some of us from the North--East see it the other way round, white pap is bought in the shops and is expensive.

I just stumbled across this video. It made me curious and I searched for homes in Windhoek. I was surprised how reasonable they are to an American like myself. For the price of an average house in the US (a little under $400,000 USD) you can get a much larger, nicer home in Namibia. Its really amazing!

20 Outside of the prophet messengers, any other voice is a voice of discrepancy. And that is why you take different ways. But if God must gather you, it is through a living prophet messenger and I tell you that there is a prophet messenger on the earth. [Ed: the congregation says, “Amen!”]. The Catholic leaders are voices of discrepancy; the Protestant leaders are voices of discrepancy; the evangelical leaders are voices of discrepancy; the Branhamist leaders are voices of discrepancy. All these church prophets, pastors, evangelists, bishops, reverends that you see on the whole face of the earth, they are voices of discrepancy. And according Matthew 13:24-30 and Matthew 24:31, the trumpet of God to gather the elect of the four winds is sounding today on the earth and you are hearing it with your own ears. And outside of this, they are voices of discrepancy. And he that has ears to hear, let him to hear!
