SORRENTO, AUSTRALIA - South of Melbourne where the bay opens into the sea is one of the great fishing spots in Australia, especially for local Bluefin Tuna. Today we’re going fishing, then coming back to the house to have a beach house, backyard barbecue!

From Melbourne we caught a helicopter down to Sorrento, and from there we boarded the boat and sailed into the open sea. We were lucky with perfect conditions and while the water in these parts can often be rough, today it was calm. We were lucky to be with very experienced fishers and after some searching, we finally landed a small tuna. What a thrilling experience!
We headed back to Sorrento for a barbecue, and taste of some of the freshest tuna sashimi I’ve ever had. Ironically, tuna is best when it ages a few days, so we didn’t eat the whole fish, but we did try it!

Im an american working at a private university in midwest. I've met lots of Australians and New Zealanders Maori pacific islanders and even got invited to go pick Opihi in Hawaii. The Pacific people's are really great good people.
I don't think there is anyone on Earth I am more jealous of than Mr Wiens. This man is living the dream!
Well when you get it for free its ok not many of us can afford to eat cheap food just wish he does,nt stuff his mouth with huge amounts of food at one go...

I lived there 3 years ago, I grew up fishing the same areas. I live on the Gold Coast in QLD now,,, much better weather, Mark was lucky to be there on such a nice day, not too many of them come by being so far south.

I think this was one of marks most memorable trip,he looked so excited to catch and taste the tuna,brings another appreciation to your food knowing you caught it in its natural habitat.

I was born near Sorrento and have been fishing my entire life in the same places. After watching Mark for all these years, it truly warms my heart to finally see him and his family enjoying my backyard.

As a European, I've been watching Masterchef Australia for years, and I've been watching your videos for years as well. Sorry I don't understand what are you unsure about? I mean I can only go on what people tell me that I have met in other countries is that they preserve my country as an island full of dangerous spices and sharks! This is the type of comments I have encountered in the Usa and other countries I have travelled to and it's very hard to explain to people that it's not like that at all 😂😂😂
I have watch to many vids about very large spiders, the beaches have critters that hurt if they touch you. Sharks and fires. I just recently started seeing vids about the wonderful seafood. Being a foodie it got my attention.

Once again I appreciate the depth of knowledge required for fishing. The fishermen family were so kind and great teachers. This and Korea might be some of my favourite series of yours Mark. I did not realize the diversity and rich offerings of Australia until now. I might have to add it to the bucket list. Will we see some koalas?

Thank you for saying that. As a sushi chef in my younger days I was so confused watching that oil get poured all over the fish. Seems unnecessary and over kill to me

I had sashimi fish before but I don't know too much about sashimi. But I would not put all that oil on the fish. Seems like going overboard to me and not being able to taste the fish
