Alzheimer’s is a horrible disease. Both my parents had it. My mom passed away in May of 2020 and I just lost my father in July of this year, two weeks after I had surgery. It’s hard watching them decline. It’s wonderful of you both to bring awareness to this horrible disease. I watch her channel too and she’s an amazing person. Your friend Diane 😘

Absolutely love your embroidery Ruan. If you had not pointed out the two sides, they both look great to me. Totally agree two was enough for this garment. Finally weekend...will be sewing some girl scout patches on my granddaughter's uniform at at minimum. xxoo

I probably should have sized down as well but once I put a tee under it, I think it fits ok. Oh that colour is gorgeous Ruan and a great collab but my eye is continually drawn to that fabulous embroidery... back to my previous comment about having the Downton Abbey vibe 🤣. I really must get my hands on those patches, embroidery is where I started when I was young before cross stitching was invented I think! Really fantastic collab, the pattern was perfect and great presentation of the #sewpurpletoendALZ event. I'm so nervous about mine now as it's the end of the month and everyone will have heard it all so much by then 😭. First! Lol. The dress and colour look fab on you and the embroidery is a nice touch. I made the wide strap maxi a couple years ago but I think my fabric was too structured and it looked terrible in the back. It's destined to be stuffing for a pouf unfortunately. Alzheimer's runs in my family, I was my grandma's primary caretaker in her final years and it's a horrific disease that's now devouring my aunt. I have my purple project all cut out, just waiting for my new machine. Only 6 more days!
Loving your dress... your hand embroidery is perfect... I couldn't tell that you used 2 methods of transferring your design... I haven't done hand embroidery since I was a teenager... I think I need to have another go !!! Thank you for teaming up withe Michelle on this challenge... all you dresses are beautiful n I don't wear stripes but I think I need to give that one a go too... blessings

Like you I really enjoyed the process of putting the garment … especially the French seams, ( how weird 😂) must admit I got a wee bit confused at the pocket but with the French seams go a bit erm crazy! Gorgeous dress and the embroidery is just a lovely addition 💕

I added 1 inch to the bodice and left everything else as it is and love the length so you may not need to add as much as you think…

The embroidery really lifts this dress, Ruan! 😍 The dress is a gorgeous colour and it really looks good on you. I have some purple cotton fabric left over from my Lotta dress, hopefully enough for a little blouse, so if I have time in September I might see what I can squeeze out of it... Research into Alzheimer's is a very worthwhile endeavour, I actually make a small monthly donation to the Alzheimer's Society, as the sooner we can figure out how to prevent it, the better for all of humankind 👍
I think those pocket bags and facings would look lovely in a different fabric. Dementia is a bloody cruel disease - my gandi had Alzheimers and my dad had vascular dementia - dad did loads for our local hospice to advertise their dementia services - that makes me so proud x
My mother in law had the awful Alzheimer’s and it was horrible to watch the deterioration. I love the dress and the embroidery on the straps the pattern could be made as a pinafore for winter and have a top underneath 🤔

Omg Penny you are SO right. I added 2 inches and it was really long. Probably could have got away with not even adding anything!
Snap!! I’ve made the top version in a lilac linen as I only had 1m and it’s beautiful. I think it might be next summer before I can wear it now 😫 x
