    Yes true. Sadly I haven't got much leisure time lately as my two year old son Thomas was diagnosed with a condition called NF1 since January and doctors also found tumours in his brain and also in his optic nerve. His right eye bulged out quite a bit due to one tumour growing so much. He's been on chemotherapy since and had with MRIs. Hope this ends well. Most of my time is obviously spent with him. Thank god for your uploads. They keep my spirit a bit lifted. looking forward for the Thruxton R video.

    Thank you for the excellent review! I ordered my 2017 T120 last week and should have it soon. Just sold my Harley and have also owned sport bikes ( 2012 Kawasaki ninja 1000). I was looking for something different and I think the t120 fits the bill! Should be a bit easier to maneuver around New York streets. Loved your 2017 Speed a Triple review! I also subscribed! Excellent reviews sir!

    Man, that bike is screaming for either low profile or bar-end mirrors! I'd also get rid of the cat and use Tec's X pipe, and some V&H slip-ons, a K&H filter, and some of those micro LED indicators. Other than that I'd just add a clear, half height windscreen. Then it would be, for me anyway, just about the perfect general purpose bike.
    I love the mix of retro styling and modern technology combined with Triumph's beautiful engineering and quality build.
    You sir, do an excellent job of producing your videos. The camera angles are just right and you've even got the mics placed perfectly. Fine editing as well. Hats of for a well done job, sir.
    I was about to pick up a 2018 T120 Black from my dealer however, I just stumbled across a slightly used 2017 a few towns away for only $8500 U.S. money.
    Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for on a slightly used bike with hardly any miles? The bike looks factory new, but are there any common wear spots I should be careful of? Thanks. You make very well done films.

      The only thing I’d look out for is corrosion/tarnishing on any chromed areas (not an issue on the black of course!). Other than that a great solid machine as far as I can tell....

I spent some of my time on the job flying the Police Helicopter and now enjoying my time flying my own plane and of course riding my motorcycles! The 4202 is my Police badge number. I visited my local(ish) Triumph dealer on Saturday for the 'T Fest 2016' - basically an open day showing off the 2016 MY range, with a hog roast and free drinks and I made the mistake of sitting on the new T120 Black. Felt instantly at home on it, whereas I felt the Street Twin was a bit of a 'toy' bike, the T120 felt a mature, grown up product, with some fantastic detailing, such as the brass on the look-a-like amal carbs. I can certainly see myself buying one as an addition to the Explorer, once I've got my man cave sorted out. Another enjoyable, informative review MF. 👍😊

    Well MF, you'll probably think I'm mad but after 3 months of ownership the S1000R has got to go. A very quick bike - I often found myself doing faster speeds that I thought. You're review of the T120 motivated me to test one, and I loved it! Picking one up soon! More suited to me and a perfect partner to the GS. Yet again one of your reviews has been useful! Regards, Jon.

    • @JLOSTAFF1
      @JLOSTAFF1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's silver and cranberry red with lots of chrome! Don't like the black version.It really did feel like an "old" bike but modern as well. It was so relaxing riding it - got few looks from other motorists. Been very lucky, normal delivery if ordered now is in March 2017, they had a cancelled order just as I walked into showroom for test ride. Picking it up this Friday!!!! Getting it from Pure Triumph in Wellingborough, bit smaller than Herts Triumph but they are very good. Cheers for now. Jon

      JLO Staff I did exactly this. Sold my s1000r for t120. Crazy I know but I just loved t120 and it serves my commuting better. Though I loved every bit of my s1000r. If I could keep 2 bikes; s1000r would be my second. I hope you are enjoying your t120.

    I want one so bad. The more they go back to the classic looks of the 1950's and 60's models, the more I like them. What's that sticker on the left top part of the gas tank?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes they are lovely machines....the sticker is just an advisory one that comes on all new Triumphs telling you about the running in procedure and what fuel to use if I recall correctly. First thing that most people remove!

    Hi Flyer,
    Thanks for the prompt reply. Your videos and reviews are quite informative , entertaining and honest. thats the reason why I wanted to know your choice of machine if you had to select between these 2016 models T120 and T100. Hope you did ride the T100 too.. If so what would you prefer? The T120 or T100 [ only between these two ] [ otherwise I know your obvious choice is the street triple ]
    Cheers

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I quite favour the T100 due it's lightness, it has all the quality and style of the T120 but isn't quite so much of a lump (same reason as I prefer the Street Triple over the Speed Triple)....more cc's doesn't always mean more fun!

  • @ratjaw75

    Very good first impression review and a very good looking machine. The mirrors look very similar to the ones on my '02 TBA. While I agree they do look like Mickey Mouse ears (something I've said about mine for 14 years) they are very good if you want to know what's going on behind you.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ratjaw75 Yes that is true, those fugly mirrors do seem to work well! Sadly when it comes to motorcycles form over function sometimes wins for me though! Thanks for watching and for stopping by....all the best - TMF

    Interesting review again thanks. Looks like a nice toy and I'd love one as a second bike, but I agree...... those mirror stalks are awful and dominate the riders view! Might look a little better in chrome.... or in the bin!!

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mars0030 LOL - yes I'd go with your second option! At least it's an issue that can be very easily resolved....thanks for stopping by, all the best - TMF

    Hi TMF, thanks for the video and the review. I had a Bonneville T100 before my Tiger and enjoyed it; however, it wasn't particularly good as an all year round commuter, especially in the darkness of winter. Great review, the mirrors were not good for me when I test rode, I could not seem to get them into an adequate position for good views behind for me im approx 6ft 1, but with a bit more playing around they might be ok? Or the barends may be better but not cheap from the triumph catalogue!. On all other points with the bike I like it a lot very diffeent from my previous bikes so there may need to be some adaptaion, but that is true of most bikes.
    Im actually getting my new T120 Black next week but with the Graphite paint option which im very much looking forward to, Happy Riding

    I test rode the T120 last week found the fueling very poor when cold, super view of my elbows & suspension very harsh. Nice bit of poke from the engine, but the sound was very quiet not what I expected. came away disappointed after looking forward to riding the T120. The Tiger Sport 1050 on the other hand I would buy, a lot more fun & more comfortable.

    Another suggestion that I would love to see in your 15 min riding "Bike reviews" is
    1. add atleast a 3 min video of you riding the bike from another 2 angles.

    b. or from a camera of another biker following you.

    Great review... Liked it thoroughly. A few queries... I live in India, in the district, with poor, potholed roads and massive speed-breakers erected to stop buses and other behemoths. Will the T120 muster these massive erections (pun intended!)? I was thinking about the ground clearance. Secondly, I am over 6 feet tall and weight about 130kgs. I also suffer from a bad back brought about by motorcycling. Been off the bike for over eighteen months. I was wondering if you could comment on the comfort factor of the ride - you've already mentioned it during the review - especially the seat, foot-peg, handlebar ratio. Thanks. Sudev Pratim Basu.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi MF. Great review again. Taking one out myself in next few weeks so we can "compare notes!" My guess is I will like it but not as much as a street triple. I think the only possible replacement is a speed triple so I am going to refrain from testing one!! Regards, Jon.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JLO Staff ....have you ever ridden a Speed Triple before? I've not ridden the new one but certainly on the older versions the additional weight trumped (for me) the extra oomph - and so the Street Triple won. Maybe the real replacement will be the new 800cc Street Triple when its released :0)

    Hello from Texas! I know my question doesn't directly apply to this bike but it's the closest for comparison. I'm looking to get a bike next year. I was going for a Africa Twin but with the new Bonneville Bobber out I'm not sure. I would be riding it daily, 100ish miles a day, all highway. Do you think the triumph would be a good bike to ride daily like that, rain and cold included. Thanks!

      Hi Ted, I don't see why not as these retro Triumph's these days are very modern and in my experience very reliable - I guess the only question might be that seat and I guess for that you'll have to wait and have a try on one...amazing looking machine though eh?

    Nice one! The bike really looks nice. Especially like the dual dynos. They look much better then the one on the previous model. Why would you replace the STR in case you got the new Bonnie? Are they not very different bikes? Or would you then rather use the Panigale for the faster afternoon rounds?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

      +lookert ..they are indeed different bikes but for me they would fulfil a similar mission, that of "Summer evening blatting about B Roads" - so if I had both I'm not sure if I'd use them both enough (if you follow my logic)....no plans to get rid of the STR yet though :0)

    There seems to be a lot of sky reflection within the gauges making them hard to read. Is this so? The gauges do look to be very shallowly set.
    It is a very nice looking bike but has it got that 'must have' attribute? I'm not sure it quite reaches that level especially if it turns out to be more popular than a T100 where every Tom, Dick and Harry's got one or had one.
    Some very Harley-ish additions to this model with the association to Vance & Hines, monogram headlights, retro styling and a plethera of aftermarket parts options.
    Very nice to look at but...and there lies the rub. tcrs.

      +Hepcat Harley Hi HH - I didn't notice a particular problem reading the gauges, but then I am used to squinting at the GS dials!! Great best of both worlds bike; modern convenience and for the non bikers, when they glance at it, they all think it's an old classic. LOL. The bike won't sit at low speed in higher gears (it stutters and coughs when you do this) you do have to change down otherwise it doesn't like it. The switch gear and features are all easy to use. It does what it says on the tin and the tin says: ''classic, retro Bonneville with modern bits added for fuller flavour''. I am a mature biker and the 80 bhp is more than enough on British crowded potholed third world roads. The suspension IS on a budget but ridden within the bikes design brief it's all good. The new Speed Twin or Thruxton will give you more ponies if you wish. The engine is superb; I'm at 24,000 miles and it still sounds like new. If you want a nice colour the ''Cinder red'' version looks lovely She's a good looking gal and you get plenty of attention. I believe the Bonnevilles are all built in Thailand factories now but that's fine as far as I am concerned because the quality is very very good as Missenden Flyer says the ''fit and finish'' is really superb. I came from a Kawasaki W 800 a retro bike too, (2014 model) and although I loved the classic retro Kwacker the Bonneville does have a certain little extra ''something'' 9 out of 10 for me. Only let down by the suspension on a budget springs and forks but don't let that stop you buying this wonderful machine. A really lovely lady (all my bikes are women LOL ).I love her.

    Last week I had a Test Ride with the T120 - and for me there where some drawbacks I had not expected: In the mirrors I don't see very much. The fueling was bad, especially in combination with the very light throttle grip. Often I rode more than I drove.- In rain mode it is a little better. With drive by wire you have no real connection to the engine. The throttle feeling is vague. And for me the sound is also a bit disappointing: The engine itself is very quite, there is no mechanical sound (like on a Harley or even on the W800). You only hear the exhaust - and for my ears the exhaust was too loud. The position of the brake pedal was too deep - perhaps that can be corrected. Before I had the Test Drive the T120 was my favorite - now I'm thrown back in my search for the ideal bike - and perhaps will drive my (soft an smooth) W800 further more...

What is skewing our UK prices is the push for paying for anything from a sofa to a house on credit. Most people do not realize how credit inflates prices, simply as there is more money available. However, there are a couple of things that look so cheap they wouldn't be out of place on a Chinese bike. The quality of rear lights cluster is pretty awful as the plastics are cheap and naff. Also the plastics for the speedo binnacle look very cheap. That to me spoils an otherwise quality motorcycle.

    Very, very good point about the quality of the switchgear... BMW's really is crap!

      Good Moaning David. Don't get me started, Mate... I'm grumpy enough with the weather! Two new cams and three new switches on my RR and the ignition switch is now playing up. Had a K1200GT for two years... SEVEN warranty jobs, including the steering-head ball-joints (which don't last on duolever models because they, like the latest switches, are cheap and nasty). New timing cover (the paint comes off because they are machined AFTER painting), two new gear-change indicator sensors, new clutch after a mere 18,000 miles, new fuel pump relay and new ignition relay (complete loss of power while doing 70+ in lane 3 on a wet, windy and very busy M1) on my GS. Seriously , I could write a book on the subject, I have a number of friends with similar horror stories. K1600 owner ( £18000) now on his 3rd bike in 18 months ( gearbox failure +electronics ). GS owners with immobiliser failure ,a problem BMW covered up by secretly replacing at 1st service instead of having proper re-call. R nine T owner with oil leaks after 270 miles .. complete engine strip to replace gaskets .. now happening again less than 30 miles later !! The truth is the bikes are full of Chinese made parts ... but its not just the bikes !!!! ...
      I used to buy into the myth of German quality , until I worked selling BMW cars for a living in the mid 90's.
      Camshafts knocking because of oil starvation, crunching gearboxes the list was endless . Then my son bought a 3 series coupe from a main dealer a couple of years ago ( I did warn him) . Within weeks the alloys (£900 each) were found to have cracks in them , which the dealer admitted was a "common problem".
      How they manage to keep the press from revealing the truth about BMW quality is another story !!!

      Spoke to a BMW mechanic not so long ago who told me that he'd brought up the quality issue at a conference only to be told that it was cheaper to pay out on warrantees than to improve said quality!
      Also spoke to a guy recently who's on his THIRD engine in a new GS, because the paint kept falling off!
      Why isn't there a social media shit-storm? The ignition relay failure on my GS could have killed me...

      Well, fellow riders, sorry to hear of these problems. I ride a '97 Blackbird, and it's never had a problem...I do need a new battery though.

    In my opinion the only place Triumph should appear is the tank, which they do beautifully.
    All the rest are like cake decorating - horrible on a bike.

    what is the point of giving a bikes 'dry weight'? I don't mean you personally because it is given on most all the mfg's web sites for all their bikes as well as 'wet weight'. I understand the difference of course but can't see why anyone would care or want to know (other than the shipping company) what the dry weight of a bike is. It seems like a meaningless number to any rider. Any insight to offer? Thanks for the video

      @blajablaja1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find it useful when you get on them at the dealerships so that you can get an idea of how much it's going to weigh when "wet", you know, to consider whether if the seat height and weight is comfortable for you

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joe Strother Yes I completely agree with you Joe - it's not like you can ride a "dry" bike, so quoting dry weight is a bit odd - I guess it stops there being a perceived marketing disadvantage to manufacturers of machines with big fuel tanks if "wet" has to mean a full tank of fuel as well as oil and coolant...doesn't make a lot of sense. Thanks for watching anyway, all the best - TMF.

      thanks guys. wouldn't it be nice if it were traded for some useful information such as marking the center of gravity like on an airplane... wet of course.
