    Visual novels have a pretty decent system for allowing ending-hunting to not be too tedious, despite huge amounts of repeated dialogue: the fast-forward button for already-seen text. It's a shame that Lacuna didn't have some functional equivalent. Maybe after solving a case, you unlock a "do it for me Neil" button or something for the walking segments?

    I just found your channel this weekend and I’ve binged all of your content since. Your channel is criminally underrated but I think we’ll soon see your name alongside the best video essayists. Thanks for the videos and I can’t wait to see more!

    I don't know this game and will not watch this video, and I'm not done watching your Dishonored critiques so I don't yet know if you've already answered this question, but I wanted an answer and I think you'll see the comments on your most recent video quickest, so apologies for that.
    Are planning on making a critique on Dishonored 2 / Death of the Outsider? So far I am loving your critique on Dishonored. It's very well thought out and well put together.

      Hi! For reference comment notifications come in all the same, so any video is fine.
      I will do D2 and DOTO at some point for sure. My original plan was to start on them this fall but I decided to move them back a little bit in order to hit a few games that are releasing this fall. Currently am working on a critique of the game Vampyr and Alan Wake 2 will likely be the big game after that. I imagine D2 and DOTO will follow that and will be back to back.
      Thanks for checking out the videos and I'm glad you're enjoying the Dishonored vid.

    what is your top 10 video games of all time?

    • @kaldini
      @kaldini  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ufff, that's a tough question.
      I hesitate to say that I have a firm definitive list that stands the test of time (because they're kind of always changing based on new plays, replays, etc) I'd say the following list are games that I consistently think about or replay.
      In no particular order - Dishonored 1, Red Dead 2, The Last of Us part 1 and 2, Prey (2017), Chrono Trigger, FF9, Hollow Knight, Witcher 3, Zelda Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask, Transistor, Battletoads/Double Dragon, Gamecube Animal Crossing, Hyper Light Drifter, Ratchet and Clank a Crack in Time, Bomberman 64 and its sequel.
      Some of these admittedly aren't the highest brow, but are favorites due to being important gaming milestones for me in my life. I'd probably only say 3 or 4 of these would make it to some formal "Greatest games ever" list if one existed.
      Why do you ask?

      @@kaldini Great list, thanks for sharing.
      I ask because im interested in the person favorites when i watch their analysis on games, it makes me understand their positions more.

      Rachet and Clank Crack in time is soooo good.

      @@BruceWayne-fj9bm I miss its tone - it managed to straddle both actual humor and sincerity in a way that I don't think any of the games since have been able to do.

    20 bucks is nothing for a full game. Come on now.

      Depends on the person right?
      Like I said in the video - enjoyed my time with the game but I believe it's overpriced for the experience you're getting. I also try not to make a habit of spending more on something than it's worth if possible. Different strokes for different folks.

      @@kaldini Indie games are incredibly devalued at the moment, it's a trend which needs to die. A change of mindset is necessary. Hopefully paying 10 bucks for a game will soon be a thing of the past.

    • @kaldini
      @kaldini  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@creationzikaz4836 Absolutely, but also indie games aren't priced in indie dollars. It's still a product that needs to be appropriately priced. This isn't me saying indies can't be priced at $20 - I can list numerous games I would've happily bought at $60 - Death's door, hyper light drifter, cult of the lamb, enter the gungeon, hollow knight, Graveyard Keeper, Mark of the Ninja, transistor, invisible inc, on and on I could go. These games all offer great value, way more then their asking price. Several I've bought multiple times or purchased both digitally and physically.
      The point is that I specifically don't think Lacuna offers enough value for its cost. And that's unfortunate, but that's also a part of game development. Do I want to support indie devs? Hell yes. But am I blindly going to spend my money? No. It sounds like we feel differently on the matter, which is okay!
