Great video. Just to let you know the third timestamp for The Ugly isn’t working correctly. In the description it’s a . Instead of a : and it doesn’t work in the chapters feature either
The Road is an outstanding and devastating book, great recommendation! This game doesn’t look like one for me but I appreciate the awesome breakdown as usual!
Isn't it? I was really happy to see it so high on the NYT top 100 books so far of the 21st century. Appreciate you checking out the video. Hope everything is going well for you!
This is the best review of the game I've seen, and it pretty much echoes my own thoughts. The story and graphics are very good, while the gameplay leaves a lot of room for improvement. I enjoyed the varied mix of characters, with their realistic personalities and morals (I would say complex, but they aren't all complex, and that's a good thing). The story is not afraid to dive into hard topics and does so with the proper tone. I liked the controls. They took some time to get used to, but they allow for high skill expression. While the quests and bosses are ok on their own, the gameplay gets repetitive rather quickly. I found myself playing very safe at times, especially when a lot of enemies were around. Other times I just YOLO'd into birds. The latter were more fun but were counterbalanced by the number of tries they took. The crab is the second worst boss by far, extremely repetitive. The actual worst boss is the last one, I expected way more given how the story hyped up Heaven. The OST is perfect. I would still recommend the game for the story and for the innovative controls (you either love them or hate them). I hope the devs don't abandon the concept and instead refine the bad aspects of Laika.
@@akkesm Appreciate you watching and commenting! The studio has another game titled Grotto that I think is similar to Laika in that it does something interesting and new within its genre (for Grotto this is choice based walking sims). However similarly it doesn't quite stick the landing all together and its innovations become tedious after awhile. Might be worth checking out if you enjoyed the story and characters of Laika.
Just saying I appreciate the work you put into these videos bro, good on you
@@garlicisnice Thank you! Many of my smaller videos don't get the same level of engagement so I appreciate you saying this.
