Very glad I came across this helpful tip. I'm currently seasoning my first humidor, and have some beautiful cigars my wife brought me from Cuba. If I hadn't seen this video, I'm afraid I would have ruined these beautiful gifts. Thank you!!
I stopped using my humidor years ago, I find air tight glass containers with boveda packs keep much better, especially in a climate where humidity varies greatly.
True, I smoke 2 to 8 cigars a year... So I don't have a humidor. If I was closer to a cigar store I might smoke more. I love a good Stick but I don’t want to smoke that often
Get a tupperdor. Keep 25 to 50 cigars in there. No seasoning, no worrying about mold or dryness etc. just chuck some bóvedas and forget it. If you like the taste cedar gives off then just buy the cedar strips.
Another thing i realized is some of those hydrometers are inaccurate so keeping your humidity at say 70% is really pushing it and running the risk of mold. 62% is the best I have found. You should always always let your brand new humidor sit for a few days after seasoning to make sure it’s maintaining the proper humidity before placing any cigars in there because cigars can get ruined in a day if the humidity is to high or to low. Needless to say it’s a great hobby that does take some trial and error
hey i got a question, so i got a cigar humidor and some cigars for christmas and i did wipe it out with destilled water, but i didnt left it like that for like 12 hours, more like 3, because i didnt wanted to keep the cigars in open air for so long, i think thats also why the humidity in it gets from 75 to 65 in like 3 days bc it didnt got the first "watering"/"seasoning" what can i do to make it right, just season it once every while until it works well? or do it afterwards and leave the cigars out for a day? im very new to all this
Got you covered 👊 Cigars are sensitive, but they're not that sensitive. Leaving your cigars in a Ziploc while your humidor gets seasoned won't be a problem. You can try seasoning one more time, and then be sure to use some method of humidification inside the humidor after you place your cigars back in so the levels are maintained.
I don’t even know what that means, because I don’t even have a humidor right now, just a box with one of those 72% humidity bags in it. Any advice on starter humidors?
So you just let them lay around until the timing is right? I’m honestly asking because my cigars are starting to get hard and I put distilled water into those little pods and don’t take my cigars out.
You can put them into a ziploc bag in the meantime and they should be fine. Give them time once they get back in the humidor to slowly regain the lost humidity.
Yes, but it probably won't have all of the flavors it was intended to have when it was blended. Put them in a humidor and leave them alone for weeks. Come back and see how you like em!
It depends on where you live and where you store your humidor. The biggest tell tale sign that you have to season again is your humidor struggling to maintain a consistent humidity level where you want it
It's not common to find a honey flavor note in a premium cigar that is not flavored or infused. What you could do is pair a spirit that has honey flavor notes with a cigar. Something like the Aberfeldy 12 Year Old or Wild Turkey American Honey would do the trick
A true gentleman doesn’t over season his steak or his humidor.
This man is a true gentleman.
Salt and pepper only 💯
Great advice! I just started buying my cigars from you online. Very fast, arrived in excellent condition. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the support!
Would another humidor be needed to hold them in while one waits the 12-24 hours?
@@mrod417No. They'll be fine. Usually takes about 3 days for one to dry out.
Not necessary. You can store your cigars temporarily in a Ziploc bag until your humidor is ready 👍
Tupperware works better. Lightly mist the lid with distilled water and wipe then seal. Not to much though

Your shop looks so wonderful
So do you need to seasoning every year or just one time?
Eventually you will need to season your humidor again. When you need to depends entirely on your humidor
About 5 months ago I bought an Adorini Chianti medium size and seasoned it. I have about 35 sigars in it
Just keep an eye on your humidity and if it starts to get a little lower than usual just go for that reseason!
I will. Thx fore the info
When should you re season a humidor?
We have a video on when to reseason a humidor you can look up 👊
Needed this, thx!
Btw, do you leave humidor closed or open for 24hrs after seasoning???
Leave it closed 👊

I reseason and then put them back in, never had any issue🤷♂️

Savoy has a lot of good options for different styles and budgets but delivers on quality

where did you get your humidor?
That is a Savoy Mesquite Humidor
Can a dry cigar be restored by putting into a humidor?
Yes, but it probably won't have all of the flavors it was intended to have when it was blended. Put them in a humidor and leave them alone for weeks. Come back and see how you like em!
Sorry im a newbie. What do u mean season a humidor?
Your sopose to season them?
When you first get a humidor you need to wipe down the inside with distilled water. We have a video showing the process you can look up 👍
How long will it last until you have to re season?
It depends on where you live and where you store your humidor. The biggest tell tale sign that you have to season again is your humidor struggling to maintain a consistent humidity level where you want it
Nice suit👌🏿
There he is 👊
@@holtscigars 🤓
What does seasoning mean? Adding water?
Yes, wiping down the inside of your humidor with distilled water
Gotcha gotta wait like a whole month before i can use my humidor lol
What’s best cigar for honey notes

Since you are already in a huge walk in humidor is your savoy humidor right there seasoned and humidified separately??? 😂😂😂 🤔🤔🤔🤔 My man
How do you know when your humidor needs re seasoning
If your humidor is struggling to maintain consistent humidity levels it's probably time to reseason.
If your digital hydrometer is reading consistently low. Probably a time to re season
I use acrylic now
If you keep cellophane on then it doesn’t matter much
Awesome man schweet
Is saying the word “humidor” like “Yeumidor” a Philly thing? 😂 no hate at all I’ve just never heard it said like that before!
Pretty much 😂
Can’t you just put them in a ziplock bag with Bolivia pack?
Yes you can
I've been looking for humidors but damn their expensive for the size I'm looking for. Tempted just to make my own
Savoy has some great quality options that won't break the bank
@@holtscigars Thanks! I'll check it out
