Picard is singing sea shanties in "Allegiance" from season 3. He is kidnapped and placed in a room with three other beings, and a replacement picard, acting oddly, is left behind on the enterprise. Poetry recital was "Menage a Troi" again in season 3. Lwaxana is held hostage by the ferengi and picard is declaring his love for her in a ploy to secure her freedom.
I love how in the episode with the kid asking "What does it mean? 'Arrogant son of a..." the kid tells Picard "I want to grow up to be just like you", and then in a later episode they have the kid actually play Picard. I thought that was a stroke of genius.
the episode with the actual picard manouver is great :P its when he warps up to the other ship and blows them up whilst being mega close but when he goes to use it against the enterprise (picard is being controled at this point) the enterprise see's it coming and uses the tractor beam
The Picard Maneuver was when a ship goes into warp for a fraction of a second heading toward an enemy ship. When the ship comes out of warp it then fires on the enemy ship. For a split second the ship that went into warp looks like it is in 2 places at once and confuses the enemy ship's computers so that it cannot coordinate a defense against the maneuver. The thing is that the ship executing the move must already be very close to the other ship or else the other ship won't fall for it.
True "Tea Earl Grey Hot" actually needed to be in there as well. Fantastic Captain, the only other Sci Fi captains that even come close are Sisko and Adama.
@mandy8888 There are the classic British spellings, and having grown up an Army brat all over the world, most reading only Brit-lit, I find them easier to see/use and recognise (as opposed to recognize), and to _me_, more correct than the American versions. More power to you. :) Then there is L33T, 2. Then of course there are the Welsh/Gaelic spellings, and the great 80's UK band Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, too! :) Thank you for this Mandy8888, well done. Great video TYVM!
So eloquent and yet such a badass. The only Liberal I like. The shirt pulling thing, I've noticed that I do that before making speeches at lectures and major meetings.
"what is this place?" and "where the hell are we?" are questions you'd probably ask a lot when you're on an exploration ship. anyway, Picard is awesome.
@sefros It was also an inside joke with the cast and crew. When Patrick Stewart would adjust his uniform shirt that also became known as the "Picard Maneuver"
its the episode where they get caught in a temporal loop with another ship (i forget which) anyways, the two ships end up on a collision course and data suggests to decompress the shuttlebay, where as riker suggests to use the tractor beam (npot sure if thats correct way round..), they chosse rikers method and end up continuously getting destroyed until they use datas way, thus escaping the temporal loop. hope that helps..
Actually I think he was just replaced by an alien. And a pretty clever one too. I mean, if he didn't pull down his shirt it would have been a dead giveaway that he wasn't Picard.
@mahdogzbite I am enjoying both the video and the different spellings of words through the ages- not typos, as English is constantly evolving. Why kibitz on this? There are no hard feelings here, just people comparing their ancestral spellings and learning thereby. :) What kind of dog do you have?
The Jean-Luc Picard, Walker Keel, Jack Crusher & Beverly Howard-Crusher backstory reminds me of the Marauder's Era in certain ways... ... I don't see any Harry Potter resemblance to Picard specifically, though.
You know, there's a valley in my backyard that always has a puddle in it when it rains. How did that valley form perfectly so that a puddle the EXACT shape of the valley would ALWAYS form in it? >:3
@GeneralKenobiSIYE Technically, American English is a recognised dialect of English distinct from other English dialects. Therefore if you speak American English its incorrect to use British spelling. I'm Australian and Australian English is also considered a seperate dialect.
Since we're playing "Name That Episode" could someone tell me which episode it is where Picard is singing shanties in 10-Forward and reciting in Elizabethan English to the viewscreen?
Just because we started measuring time does not meet it suddenly came into existence at that point. To think that would mean that everyone was just flying around weightless until gravity was discovered. Whether we measure time or not, it still occurs. Humanity has nothing to do with it. If the universe were a beach, we are an insignficant grain of sand.
Hardly, either the volume on this is so low or the TH-cam video has no audio. No issues on EVERY SINGLE OTHER VIDEO. The person who uploaded this just doesn't know anything about video editing.
whats that last episode? the one where the captain gives a mug to the klingon lady saying "excellent tea" ? gonna have to look that one up, looks like a funny one
Classic. Absolutely Classic.
Nothing better than listening to that voice...
Great Video by the way
Picard for President! Great compilation.
I love the changeup - "i don't wanna talk about it, get it done!"
I absolutely love this!
"Number One, the bridge, such as it is, is yours" lol
Brilliant compilation...
"Not good enough, damn it, NOT good enough!"
xD Picard is full of classic lines.
Absolutely love this!!!

Jean Luc-Picard-Says-"EXCELLENT TEA!"-Raymond "Mike" Hong!&(I Say-Any Beverages-Is: "EXCELLENT!"-Mike!)😎👍!!!!!!!!!

Number 1. NUMBER 1! Number 1, the Bridge, lol.
P.S. This is about the coolest page of comments that I've seen on TH-cam yet.
lol@ the sweater tugs and that EPIC DOULBE FACEPLAM @ 2:00.
superb
Picard-isms are funny in-context. Out of context, they're absolutely HILARIOUS.
nice job, i like hearing picards voice!
Where the hell are we...
number one, number one...NUMBER ONE!!!
Oh...that makes significantly more sense! Thanks! :)
"Our destination is elsewhere" NICE!
Makes me proud to be from Earth.

Dramatic Picard is Dramatic~
Picard is the man

Well, my left ear enjoyed it!
LOL love it.. Always have.. They should make a new Star Trek with me as Picards daughter :) Captain Skevi to the rescue
Captain Picard for president!
"Do you know what you're doing?"
"No. Release him. Why? I haven't a clue."
True "Tea Earl Grey Hot" actually needed to be in there as well. Fantastic Captain, the only other Sci Fi captains that even come close are Sisko and Adama.

agreed. Nicely done. I miss TNG.
this is awesome :D
I need to take a number 2. Number 1, you have the bridge.
Come cheer up my lads 'tis to glory we steer!
He said "It's _not_ theoretical! It's _not_ hypothetical! It's REAL!!"
"what is this place?" and "where the hell are we?" are questions you'd probably ask a lot when you're on an exploration ship.
anyway, Picard is awesome.
Haha, totally awesome.
it is awesome! :D:D and also just so you know when he uses the picard manouver it makes it seem like there is 2 of the same ship.. lol
@sefros It was also an inside joke with the cast and crew. When Patrick Stewart would adjust his uniform shirt that also became known as the "Picard Maneuver"
Boy: What does it mean, 'arrogant son of a...."
Picard: Let's talk about this later
lol

I think it was called "Power Play". Alien entities imprisoned within a storm entered the bodies of some crew members and try to hijack the ship...
Good idea! If only I'd thought of it at the time.
Ah, good times
I agree!!
kid-what does that mean anyway? Arrogant son of a--
Picard-lets talk about that later, shall we?
*Looking around the TH-cam page*
Picard: "What the devil am I doing here?"
Yeah, that's the Picard Maneuver.
I too am struggling to remember. I'm pretty sure it was in one of the latter seasons, a time related episode (obviously).
I didn't like hearing out of only one ear, so I turned my headphones sideways- I put the left speaker on my nose.
brilliant
Yeah, he's badass. :)
Probably more often than any other questions.
@Jorgon01 yes. Sometimes he called him by his first name Will. A few times he called him by his rank Commander.
Picard in a bottle! Good show. ^^
"It's a theoretical! It's a hypothetical! It's REAL!"
...Did that make more sense in the context of the episode?
Your right it is a living and that is a good thing , I would hate to see what would happen if it all stopped and this planet died ??
that was a pretty good laugh.
Actually I think he was just replaced by an alien. And a pretty clever one too. I mean, if he didn't pull down his shirt it would have been a dead giveaway that he wasn't Picard.
While I concede I didn't quite get the spelling right, upon checking (which I should have done to start with - obviously), I choose "manoeuvre".
Undoing a transporter accident is child's play compared to Saul Tigh ordering suicide bombers to assasinate Baltar.
My right ear is lonely.
@Jorgon01-I'm pretty sure Riker says under his breath "Ya damn right I'm number one."
It's the one he tries to get into counselor troy's pants
"I'm really not much of an actor"
LOL

Wow. This one is so old it's mono.
It's a joke called Puddle Logic.
1:31
- What does it mean anyway? Arrogant son of a...
- Let's talk about later shall we?
The Picard manuever (pulls down shirt).
You know, there's a valley in my backyard that always has a puddle in it when it rains.
How did that valley form perfectly so that a puddle the EXACT shape of the valley would ALWAYS form in it?
>:3
Our destination is elsewhere. lmao!!
@katyponyforever I think that's "Evolution", the first episode of Season 3.
2:00 Classic facepalm. Doubled even.
best fuckin captain i ever saw
Season 1: The Battle
@mandy8888 Excellent. You speak for me.
@GeneralKenobiSIYE Technically, American English is a recognised dialect of English distinct from other English dialects. Therefore if you speak American English its incorrect to use British spelling. I'm Australian and Australian English is also considered a seperate dialect.
There is no time. Only change of subject A relative to change of subject B using an agreed upon method of messure.
thats right I remeber the maneuver now
anybody know what episode that was?
Since we're playing "Name That Episode" could someone tell me which episode it is where Picard is singing shanties in 10-Forward and reciting in Elizabethan English to the viewscreen?

Whether we measure time or not, it still occurs. Humanity has nothing to do with it. If the universe were a beach, we are an insignficant grain of sand.
Why does that surprise you to begin with?
@mandy8888 "and I couldn't live without my U in colour!"
Commence dying. ;-)
@Jorgon01
he did call him will in a more personal setting, but in a professional setting, probably not.
Season 5 "Cause and Effect" and in answer to HeathK1976, yes you are a nerd, but a friendly and helpful one!
Hardly, either the volume on this is so low or the TH-cam video has no audio. No issues on EVERY SINGLE OTHER VIDEO. The person who uploaded this just doesn't know anything about video editing.
You forgot "Tea, earl grey...hot"
Are you meaning in level of difficulty or in the high level of moral tragidy???
ha ha,
he keeps pulling his shirt down, even as a kid.
Picard seems not to know what is going on, perhaps that is why Data is always nearby. lol
whats that last episode? the one where the captain gives a mug to the klingon lady saying "excellent tea" ? gonna have to look that one up, looks like a funny one
@mandy8888 Did you know, they used to write `co-ordinate' as `cördinate' ? :-o
I think it's "Tea, Earl Grey, hot." lol
@mandy8888 There's no apostrophe in the word "its" in the context that you uses it
Data, you're giving me a migraine.
What is this place?
have a look at clip called "Shut Up Wesley"...
whoops, wrong one - that's the engage video i think
@Jorgon01 Picard called Riker by his first name a few times.
