This scene struck me as so cool back then. Here you have Wesley and Captain Picard having a real dialogue and enjoying lunch together. I think that's when I really warmed up to the show.
rollerblading geek Wesley was not afraid of Picard anymore and started to view him as a father figure. Wesley even mentioned this in his last episode as a series regular
this guy can deliver the most awkward lines ever thought up in showbizz, and make them masterpieces.....the only guy that outranks a number one, and bosses him around too!
It really only appears casual. Sometimes, a response to recalling a traumatic event is the stereotypical "THEY'RE IN THE TREES!" thing. Other times, its just breaking down in tears (like we saw in Family) or lashing out in anger (like we saw in First Contact). Still other times, its disconnected-ness.
i love this ep, because Wesley is really there to look out for the captain , also what Picard tells Wesley is still one of the legendary stories he always talks about, and also relives the act again
If I had a food replicator, I would totally use it for sandwiches.... No seriously. I would probably make the exact same sandwich with potato chips, and a Cherry Coke. Or root beer. Or Dr. Pepper.
Starfleet officer - "This is a replicator. It can make any food you desire from the various alien cultures in federation space, from klingon gact, to Romulan ale. Whatever you could wish for." Me - "Cool. Cheetos and orange Fanta please."
@@difficultbastard I would ask for something to know how good it was at its job, and then start going down the entire menu of all alien food just to taste it, one different meal every day.
Tens of thousands of courses programmed in the replicator and Picard eats a white bread sandwich with coffee? What the hell?? I would have been, "Would you care for another filet mingon, Wesley?"
@Ucallit 71 I am sorry, but what i haνe just experienced is.. many accusations, and surprisingly no proof to back them up. Is he a drunk? Seνeral times he was caught being intoxicated, indeed. But then again, the greatest majority of celebrities, and artists in general, are under the influence of substances or alcohol, not constantly, of course, but quite often. Nine Hells, eνe my faνorite actor, Antony Hopkins, was an alcoholic! Does that make the wicked?! Of course not, no matter how much some people insist upon that. Is he toxic? How one reaches that conclusion, if they do not personally know someone?
@Ucallit 71 Again, being addicted to substances is not, and it neνer will be, a sign of a man's or a woman's quality. George Carlin was both an alcoholic and a drug addict. But he was also kind, decent, modest, goodhearted and worthy of respect. And hating the publicity in neither a good or a bad characteristic. I cant believe picard was held down by three guys and penetrated. Well At least he got one of them down in a devious jointlock before one of his chums drew his ''weapon'' and impaled him through the back, but as picard said "curious sensation really, not much pain''
He seems to think of his nephew Rene as his substitute son more than Wes. Though maybe he feels some guilt since he's the one who left Jack Crusher to die.
Even though it contradicts Picard's story here? They weren't giving the Nausicans a wide berth in that episode, far from it, and Picard wasn't the instigator, his friend was (even before oldster JL tried to save his heart).
Well if it'll make anything you want, why not a sandwich? Some days i want a good steak, some days spaghetti, and some days a simple BLT on white bread. :-)
The seeming confusion points to our "not yet realized" , not yet experienced hypothetical future...What would YOU do if any food, any material thing, any experience (in a holo-deck), whatever you desire...is instantly available to you? Would you eat yourself to death?, fill up spaces with things you perceive as valuable?....an interesting thought for sure, how would we all react? We see many examples of this with hyper-rich individuals & their bizarre behaviour & acquisitions...many unable to shake off millennia of particular instincts.
