  • This is the long detailed edit of this project, check my other videos for a quick cut version. Let me know which one you like best in the comments!
    Made a truck "ladder" style rack for my buddy Randy's four door pickup. I used 1 inch EMT conduit, sketchy? Or good to go? Watch the build and let me know what you think!
    More rack builds coming in the future, stay tuned!

    Great job. This is exactly what I want so just checked with my local home depot...$33 each for 1" conduit.
    Ill just have to wait for the economy to collapse then i can afford to build this by bartering with food.

      It's crazy! The last project I did was spring and prices were normal. A friend wanted a rack this fall and I said no problem, look at prices and was blown away.

    Wow...amazing...speechless 😁.... I been looking to build a roof rack myself with strut but I been skeptical about the weight....It never occurred to me EMT can hold almost 200 lbs wich is competitive with factory roof rack for $800. Thanks for the idea...I'm going to try it. 😁..what do you think if I use rigged 1" conduit?... would it be stronger or just heavy on the truck?...thanks again.

      The 1 inch emt used here is great for its weight and strength. If you need stronger rack i'd suggest going with steel tube, i've built two racks using 16 gauge rectangular and square tubing. I'll get those videos up too sometime.

    Building the rack supports with 1" emt rn

    Pretty sweet! Did you consider following the contour of the camper shell to narrow it down a bit on top?

    • @FullFaceAndy
      @FullFaceAndy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! We wanted maximum space for gear up top but wouldn't be much trouble to narrow up and follow the shell.

    Thanks for the video, there aren't many out there like it.
    How leak proof is this whole system? Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like there's a 1/4 in gap between the shell and the bed of the truck in the spots without the attachment plates

      Can't say for certain, but haven't heard any complaints. Few layers of weather stripping to fill the gaps.

      Yeah when you burn the galvanized coating the zinc fumes are toxic. I wear a respirator with appropriate filter.

      @@brycewalker1480 pretty sure I use the 3m 2091, but of course double check for coverage of zinc oxide.
