  • We built a side ladder for our 2008 Dodge Sprinter using EMT pipe, t-connectors, and more. The total cost for the project was $145, which is significantly less than buying a van ladder... and we're really happy with the final product!!!

Nice job! Yer givin me IDEARS! I would think about an extra brace from the pinch rails back to the frame rails. Those pinch rails rust out, and all your weight goes right down to 2 layers of 18 gauge steel.

Very very cool. I'm in the same boat, looking for ladders and absolutely refusing to pay $700+. Will probably do this. Thanks for sharing!

Nice! Once you have the welder there, why not just weld the rungs tho?

How far from the van are the rungs? Good video, thanks for saving me some cash.

How's it holding up for you?? Thinking of applying your idea to my current build. If you were to do it again, would you use 1" conduit as opposed to the 3/4"?

Hey! sorry for the late reply. I am extremely pleased with the way it turned out. i weigh about 175 lbs and have no issue getting up and down the ladder as is. It does flex a little when getting on and off, but not enough to concern me. it feels solid and sturdy. I am happy with the 3/4" and would not change it. if you decide to go with the 1", keep in mind that Maker Pipe only makes T-connectors for 3/4" conduit

Good alternative. Most hispster sprinter van owners are getting raped with those insane prices. Thanks for sharing this idea.

Link to the hardware mounting kit?

i had to call Aluminess and order it over the phone. they do not offer the hardware mounting kit as an individual product. just them some excuse like "i purchased your ladder used from someone but they were missing some of the mounting hardware, so i need to order another mounting kit"
