I have that in my pattern stash and am reminded to make some bras for elder ladies who just refuse to wear regularly constructed bras that I will wear away from home, but can't wait to change out to loose formless sports bras....the pesky unaboob.

I have found your videos very helpful as I try to psych myself up for sewing again. Can you please recommend some patterns for elastic waist pants? They don’t need to be free but they do need to be easy! Also for a top or dress, I would need to do an FBA (H cup), which scares me because it requires alterations to other parts of the pattern. Should I choose a pattern with cup sizes such as one I found on Cashmerette? I’m interested in using both knits and wovens with a basic T-shirt type. Thank you.

I just made the Little Black Bra. I've never made a bra and it is a good introductory bra. I made a toile and found I had to make a few small adjustments. I followed the sewalong and it was very easy. I think the challenge is in measuring to get the right fit but the pattern instructions go over that in detail. I added elastic to the band which isn't mentioned in the instructions but if you make it and feel like you need more support it could be the band needs more elastic.

Great video, I have a few Sinclair patterns, need to go through my stash again and see what I have. That mood dress pattern is very pretty, it's not that many woven wrap dress patterns (for plus size) out there. I've made the Rebecca Page dress and LOVE it, a very easy sew. I think I'll download the Georgie Dress, a couple years ago or I think last year they announced the Mary Quant line/series during an exhibit (I think). I remember it was all the rave on IG. Thanks for sharing.

FYI 4 way means it stretches both horizontally and vertically but it’s recovery is total, so that’s basically a short cut to explain in fewer words. 😆 lol. Your hair is very nice . I got the little black bra pattern, and printed, but haven’t started yet. Hope you are well, have a great day!
Definitely benefits me. Free patterns in plus size are not always easy to come by. There are a few I'd like to try but I want to do the dress in women's first off. Appreciate all your research.

Thanks... I have been enjoying your videos. I wonder if any of your videos cover the adjustment for plus size thighs. We call them "saddlebags" also some call it being pear shaped. Either way I do not know how to make the adjustment when my waist is smaller than my thigh shape. any help would be awesome... I am guessing it would some formula like the FBA for bust sizes.
Do you mean for trousers/pants? My waist is smaller than my hips so I grade between sizes for waist to hips. Ill be making some trousers shortly so if you give me more info I'll try to address. Are your thighs bigger than the size that correlates with the hips?
Penguin and Pear Dressmaking - yes for any woven pant. Trousers, jeans etc - my thighs are much larger than my waist. The shape of them is like I’ve attached a tailor ham to the outside of my upper thighs. Quite a visual, I know!! I’d love any help! One person does a athletic thigh adjustments for fuller front thighs... but I carry it on the outside not the front ... thanks!!
When you say you carry it outsides do you mean the sides? If so I would measure yourself at different points on the leg where its fatter and thinner, then measure the pattern piece and grade between sizes in that area. It should work as the grading is usually done at the side seam where the change is you need to make. I personally don't need those changes so I havent done those adjustments but that is what I'd do.
Off the top of my head I think so yes. I think they made the sample in linen which is similar in weight so you should be fine. Just double check the fabric recommended. You'll do great, good luck!!

Thank you Claire - I had no idea such wonderful plus size patterns could be found, and for free. I did get quite excited about the Nyssa Dress. However when I went to MOOD free patterns, it says it only goes to size 22, not 30. Hoping I wasn't looking in the right place, I emailed MOOD to confirm. So sad.
Great work finding all these patterns for us larger ladies. I've only just started sewing and wanted to make some puffy mesh sleeves in a plus size. Do you know of any patterns as this would help me so much x
It depends which pattern you're talking about. Many you click the link to go to the product page and i explain in the video how to get codes for the others. Youd need a printer or to send them to a copyshop x
If you click join it will give you all the details. You don’t pay when you click join it just lets you view the details then you decide whether to pay or not.
They are still free. Details on how to get the bra is in my description box as it’s always been I’ve updated the link for The Valley dress by Sinclair. The only pattern not available is the lawley skirt which has been stated at the top of my description box for a long while.

Valley Dress 404 ERROR
Some of these are no longer free in 2023, the bra and one dress - can’t blame them they are great patterns.
