6:25 what’s funny about this one is that when it came out people right away started to compare each other on how fast they beat it to where they shamed people for “taking too long” or call them losers for not beating it within 15-20 seconds
I actually stopped playing since the Chasm. I only go back to Genshin and go on tours when there are map expansions. So that aqueduct tour in Fontaine was a very nice touch for me. I still see no point in minmaxing characters in this game, but the lore,?atmosphere, and music really carry the game.
That's exactly how they want u to play the game. If u try to min max u are just making the game more unfun for yourself. Being extremely casual is exactly why this game is so popular
Minmaxing is really only for whales. I'm completely f2p, I'd be willing to spend a small amount but it's just not worth it with what you get for that so I've been f2p since launch. And when you think about it the only place where minmaxing matters in the entire game is floor 12 of the abyss. Everything else 99% of the content can be done with starter characters or unoptimized characters you like, even if they're not strong or meta (dehya my beloved).

@@kitnal4143 long = more content to keep you busy in the game, and plus despite being long it's properly paced so it's ok, my advice to never try to rush a quest when you see that it's going to be super long
@indianweebdesu2482 I can't my biggest issue with genshin in general is how cluttered the stories are. So much rambling and forced exposition it is tiring. It was better with the desert but even then we had stops and chat about nonsense 😂
To add to your point about puzzle lock behind a world quest, I feel bad for new players who want to ascend Yae Miko or Shenhe. If they are currently on Monstadt Archon Quests, they have to rush in order to finish Liyue and Inazuma plus they also have to do an entire world quest in Enkanomiya in order to unlock those 2 Vishaps Boss.
If only we can convert ascension boss material to another, either using dream solvent or other resources. Or the second option, let people put a commission to farm some materials (especially bosses) to other players. Since new players probably don't have access to farm the materials and they can't join veteran players' world, this commission feature should be helpful for them.
Then there's people like me that never do side quests and half the upgrade materials are locked behind bosses I should have been farming years ago. Then you have sweaty weirdos who've built teams that never have to normal attack again saying everything should be harder. Hoyo shouldn't follow League down that trap. League also got a massive player base because the game was easy to play and therefore fun. But they made it harder every year to satisfy the few loud mouth breathers that just play games all day and now it is unfun and smelly. You already didn't want to go to LCS because of the cacophony of scents. But now there isn't a cacophony, it's all pure sweaty nerd.
@@somersault1123 I don't think there's anything to worry about there. There's a reason the game has had a static "artificial difficulty" ceiling since it released. The impetus to continue farming regularly is to experience new characters' kits and new party compositions, not to keep chasing an ever-higher DPS check as a core feature. The bulk of content will always be accessible to the average player.
I’ve barely touched Genshin, but I’ve played Star Rail a good bit. After watching this, it makes me want to try and give Genshin a real good shot again.

As a Genshin player, I feel like there is a lot of recency bias in this video. There have been a lot of NPC deaths in Archon Quests, (Signora, Teppei, Halfdan, Caribert, Rukka etc.). Genshin has never been afraid of killing NPCs. Every region has had it’s own unique take on exploration, combat and storytelling. Some exploration has always been quest locked because of lore implications. That exists in Fontain as well, just to a lesser degree - like in Inazuma. In terms of skill check, Abyss floor 12 is a much better skill check than Vivian. If anything, the local legends are just tanky enemies to try out new teams without them dying in just a single rotation. That being said, Genshin’s enemy designs vary a lot between good skill checks to unnecessary stall mechanics. It’s almost like a flavor of the month, depending on what banners they are selling and what they are in mood of promoting. In terms of swimming, we have been limited to very few game mechanics that disregard any meaning to a characters gameplay. All the underwater stuff only exists for exploration. That being said, I enjoy it a lot. But that’s because I am a very casual player. I do want to note: a lot of QOL takes time for Genshin to update because of the sheer speed of the patch cycle. That’s why things like layered maps, that already existed with the interactive map, could not be added for an entire year. It’s not HSR doing things first, it’s Genshin’s backlog being to big that they haven’t gotten to it, while HSR is a new game with those features already built in form the get go. Any long time player will point of that a lot of Genshin events have served as a testing ground for a lot of features that were later implemented in HSR. So any comparisons between the two are unfair. Lastly, I’m not sure how many world quests Necrit has finished, but Genshin’s lore cuts deep. Some of the stuff is absolutely mind blowing. But you have to actively go looking for it. I feel like he still hasn’t got the taste of the real story of Genshin for him to praise Fontain to high heavens. Personally, Sumeru’s Archon quests have been solid. Act 3 of Fontain fell short. In fact Act 1 already had some very noticeable plot holes. But, considering the stakes, Fontain is definitely a high point. And perhaps that’s where all of Necrit’s recency bias is coming from. There is a lot at stake, and it seems like HoYo is finally going to pull out the big guns. It’s very exciting. But I don’t want to discount all the good and the bad from the other regions as well. I feel like this video downplays a lot of criticisms because everything feels fresh and new. And it does not highlight the more amazing parts of Fontain such as the raising stakes, the music (especially with the departure of Yu Peng Chen), the absolutely bombshell lore revelations and the evolution of character gameplay (with the HP drain mechanic that is likely to carve out its on niche in the meta). I feel like there were a lot of half baked takes here. But this is all just my opinion.
I like how this argument of "genshin never kill" go without anyone considering we're in peace time in Teyvat, with a hint of an all out war in the future. And like look at how not killing willy nilly did when they actually decided to "kill" TingYun ( welp i guess thats a spoiler), people couldnt believe it, theorizing that the real one is somewhere else. The instant-ramen culture expecting stories to wrap themselves nicely without any build up is so mindnumbling to me.
Inazuma imo was a worst offender than Sumeru; you needed specifically to open chests to unlock the fox tree so you burned through exploring without getting to enjoy things properly. At least quests you’ll not lose anything by speedrunning them.
@@evilmiyoho6742 Just saw this comment. I’d be very happy to get paid. I love Genshin a lot. Too much maybe. And that’s why I care so much about it. I want it to be the best. And I do my best to convey my feelings during the surveys. Please don’t judge people without context. I have been having so much fun and I can’t wait for act 5!
Am I the only one who thinks fountaine is a little similar to Piltover and Zaun from League universe? Big bright innovative city surface and a dark crime-ridden underground.
This is the best version of Genshin so far. Story getting more mature, exploration being much more pleasant and characters, who are interesting on their own. Hope Mihoyo will keep getting better with all that!
Something I love about Fontaine is that all of the characters are multifaceted and nuanced. Even the villains have their reasoning that is somewhat valid and makes you feel for them. Some of the good guys are insecure and wear a mask, even the stoic ‘emotionless’ characters are caring and warm under the surface.
Well for me the exploration in fontaine feels a lot better than sumeru because the rewards actually feels rewarding. For example in sumeru I sometimes have to solve a puzzle that involves a lot of annoying things like climbing, traversing a desert, climbing some more and the reward at the end is just a stupid common chest... It made me go "what's the point?" while in fontaine the rewards are way better with exquisite chestss and traversing the lands is less of a chore. I love fontaine it made me like genshin again + no fooking aranara quests god that quest was too long.
Loved this review. I often see Genshin creators talk about the flaws all of the time without really appreciating the things that brought us here in the first place. Thanks for this honest review on my favourite game ❤️
you forgot to mention the fontaine rewards, you get exquisite chests mostly, with common chests being rarer, meanwhile its the opposite in sumeru and inazuma. in sumeru u have to do 5 minute long puzzles and get 5 enemies spawned on top of you for a common chest in fontaine u fart with crab underwater and get exquisite
The exploration might be intentional. Mondstadt: You can explore freely after tutorial (Prob means once you know the basic of survival in this dangerous world) Liyue: Explore the mysteries of the mountains at your own pace, and everywhere can feel like home as it resembles more of the countryside. Inazuma: The places are so pretty but doesn't feel like home at all... you really feel like a visitor of a military country, it feels suffocating wherever you go. Sumeru: Most lands are forgotten by the past and buried by the sands of time, hence locked by quests. Fontaine: Similar to Mond but the land has 2 sides. One is you can explore the world freely as well as underwater but only the side that they wants you to explore, while locking up half of the things they wanted to hide (which you will eventually try to unravel the secrets with in).
I have one thing to disagree with the map changes is not ported from honkai star rail it's actually ported from their interactive map that did have that for like a year
Hate to be "that guy" but the two tracks that are synced up and transition between each other is not a new Fontaine feature. It first appeared in the Chasm, where the combat track is a version of the normal track that plays in the corresponding area.
Damn now I really wanna play genshin impact, but I honestly don’t know if I should. I’m committed to Star rail, and I feel like playing both of them would overwhelm me; not to mention I don’t know how good genshin on mobile. Ahh this sucks!
I play Genshin about 2 1/2 years. Give it a Chance, play it for a longer period some people only play for few hours say it's shit and nevere come back or later. So dont do that. Enjoy at your own pace, If you enjoyed Star Rail then you will Genshin as well. At the end it's inspired by Genshin. You will see in the menus and stuff like that. Its basically the same. You will experience a entire new elemental System, awesome lore and a living beautiful Open World. Just be aware that the game just had it's Third Anniversaty meaning it's packed with new Content for a New traveller. but dont worry. Its a Game designed for casuals. Not as much as Star rail actually, but enough. I give you some tips and help juste if you want. 😊
You don’t have to play it daily or anything, just play through the story and stop when you feel satisfied. I’d highly recommend playing on PC or PlayStation though. The gameplay is not satisfying on mobile compared to star rail because it’s an action game with precise movements and actions.
8:09 Absu is a water level on the entire game and is fun. Super Mario World has fun water levels. Mega Man has fun water levels. Bioshock 1 is a water level on it's entirety too and is fun. There are fun water levels, but people just tend to cry because of the bad ones.
@@namelesshero259no, specific games for swimming don't count because they created around water but if not prime mechanic it's depend how good or bad it is.
to be fair, there is a skill check in the game. it's just that it isn't too hard to reach unlike dps. the skill check in combat lies in knowing when to switch and use specific skills/teammates and where to position your self to deal optimum damage i.e. knowing who to use and in what order to use them to maximize your elemental reactions. again, it's not that high of a bar but it's there. improper use of reactions and\or team cycles leads to a huge loss in dps. although you probably could also consider this a knowledge check, since knowing how to build your character for a specific use in a specific team is pretty much half the journey to getting good at the game.
@@stanimirivanov6172 The thing is Zhongli might make some teams weaker due to them lacking a stronger composition, so it's more situational than that. Also fuck the rifthounds.
exactly why it makes me mad at the statement that abyss is "a dps check rather than a skill check" people dont understand that in Genshin while obviously character stats contribute to DPS your skill matters way more, the truth is the dps check IS the skill check, you need to play well to deal high dps not just having high character stats because even with the most optimal stats any character would have an upper threshold they simply cannot pass. you say its not that high or a bar but half people I know who play the game never passed it, the moment they fail the dps check their mind drifts to their numbers being not high enough and stare at the prospect of having a 5* weapon / 5* constellations which are both things that have never been necessary people also care way too much about the game needing to be more defensive oriented with having bosses being more "challenging" like no, not every game needs to be Dark Souls, purely offensive rotation combat has been a thing since MMO was invented and it is its own genre of fun
im glad this was a sponsored vid that allowed for critisism, hopefully the encoragement of some of the combat overworld editions and abyss comments will be noted by hoyo since i could reasonably assume they will also watch this video. good job Necrit nice vids as always
It does allow for criticism because Mihoyo knows Necrit doesn't even know what genshin is about, so he would never get to criticise about the real issues of the game.
About the music sync-up, that aspect isn't a new feature, but it was just very rarely used, for example in the chasm, there's a zone where the battle music is a more agitated synced up version of the ambient music.
And it's also exceedingly annoying to wait for Quality of Life improvements like better artifact farming, Atifact Loadouts, actual endgame content and etc. It's been more than 3 years already and there's no signs of that!
@@BulletSponge71436 Funny enough, in Honkai Impact 3rd we got a system in an event that worked like the artifact system and it actually had the option to reroll substats. So they have de facto done it, just not where it needs to be done.

@@LawrenceVengeance His survival made more sense than his potential death. His backstory and current character arc revolve around his belief that his life is not valuable, seeing himself as merely a weapon/soldier meant to sacrifice himself. Throughout the game, the developers have been trying to show him that his life is worth living and that he is not just meant to suffer. Even Zhongli feels saddened by this mentality that Xiao holds about himself. When the entire quest is about Xiao needing to learn to value himself and see that he is not just existing to suffer and sacrifice himself, it would have made no sense for his character arc to lead to his actual death. Additionally, Zhongli saving Xiao shows, not just to the viewer but also to Xiao, that people actually care about him

Story wise inazuma is great, but its so punishing when you first get there for exploration. If you dont rush the quests that remove the lightning storms you are just going to be miserable

I only stopped because my guild fell apart and it killed my interest. All the hate is for a game that doesn't even exist or things that don't matter because of the kind of game raid actually is. Grats on the sponsor! I'm glad you've been enjoying Genshin so far, hope to see you still playing next year and the many years to come!
You don't have to If you don't want to minmax your charecters, only those guide youtubers like zajeedf the likes do that, for playtesting and shi,
That's exactly how they want u to play the game.

Oof that's definitely rough. I think they said they're working on a solution for this.
Yeah I too feel bad for people who pull shenhe its not like there is better options

Hoyoverse just pumps out great music. Star Rail boss themes especially are awesome. Shoutout to "Dawn of Disaster" and "Wildfire". Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
Genshin lore is dark and deep asf he at least got the book before the sun and moon from Enkanomiya?
Inazuma imo was a worst offender than Sumeru; you needed specifically to open chests to unlock the fox tree so you burned through exploring without getting to enjoy things properly. At least quests you’ll not lose anything by speedrunning them.

Fountain is the reason i read every dialog, and started playing again. Every aspect of that location make me want to "dive deeper"

If you don't highlight the flaws, the rest doesn't matter. Genshin is dead because of those flaws and casuals like you.
you forgot to mention the fontaine rewards, you get exquisite chests mostly, with common chests being rarer, meanwhile its the opposite in sumeru and inazuma.
in sumeru u have to do 5 minute long puzzles and get 5 enemies spawned on top of you for a common chest
in fontaine u fart with crab underwater and get exquisite
so fontaine is basically piltover and zaun ref?
Like one man said: if there is no ad in the video, the video is an ad
The exploration might be intentional.
Mondstadt: You can explore freely after tutorial (Prob means once you know the basic of survival in this dangerous world)
Liyue: Explore the mysteries of the mountains at your own pace, and everywhere can feel like home as it resembles more of the countryside.
One is you can explore the world freely as well as underwater but only the side that they wants you to explore, while locking up half of the things they wanted to hide (which you will eventually try to unravel the secrets with in).
in short, fontaine is just french piltover

You don’t have to play it daily or anything, just play through the story and stop when you feel satisfied. I’d highly recommend playing on PC or PlayStation though. The gameplay is not satisfying on mobile compared to star rail because it’s an action game with precise movements and actions.

Congrats on the sponsor, Necrit!!
to be fair, there is a skill check in the game.
it's just that it isn't too hard to reach unlike dps.
the skill check in combat lies in knowing when to switch and use specific skills/teammates and where to position your self to deal optimum damage i.e. knowing who to use and in what order to use them to maximize your elemental reactions.
again, it's not that high of a bar but it's there. improper use of reactions and\or team cycles leads to a huge loss in dps.
although you probably could also consider this a knowledge check, since knowing how to build your character for a specific use in a specific team is pretty much half the journey to getting good at the game.
Or, you could just slap a Zhongli shield and ignore basically all of the mechanics (bar some instant kill ones). :D
i didn't talk about dodging, i was talking about rotations and building characters@@stanimirivanov6172
@@stanimirivanov6172 The thing is Zhongli might make some teams weaker due to them lacking a stronger composition, so it's more situational than that. Also fuck the rifthounds.
exactly why it makes me mad at the statement that abyss is "a dps check rather than a skill check" people dont understand that in Genshin while obviously character stats contribute to DPS your skill matters way more, the truth is the dps check IS the skill check, you need to play well to deal high dps not just having high character stats because even with the most optimal stats any character would have an upper threshold they simply cannot pass.
you say its not that high or a bar but half people I know who play the game never passed it, the moment they fail the dps check their mind drifts to their numbers being not high enough and stare at the prospect of having a 5* weapon / 5* constellations which are both things that have never been necessary
people also care way too much about the game needing to be more defensive oriented with having bosses being more "challenging" like no, not every game needs to be Dark Souls, purely offensive rotation combat has been a thing since MMO was invented and it is its own genre of fun
There is absolutely no skill check involved, normies are just so bad playing a children's game like this. Genshin lacks challenging endgame content.
Regarding the seamless music transition between 2 variations of a track, they had it back in the Chasm days already

im glad this was a sponsored vid that allowed for critisism, hopefully the encoragement of some of the combat overworld editions and abyss comments will be noted by hoyo since i could reasonably assume they will also watch this video.
good job Necrit nice vids as always
It does allow for criticism because Mihoyo knows Necrit doesn't even know what genshin is about, so he would never get to criticise about the real issues of the game.
About the music sync-up, that aspect isn't a new feature, but it was just very rarely used, for example in the chasm, there's a zone where the battle music is a more agitated synced up version of the ambient music.
Amongst all the critique of Genshin it's nice to also hear the positive things it did to improve.

Xiao should have died.
