One of The Stones most under appreciated songs. Mick’s growling vocals fit the lyrics perfect, snd like the song Angie, it’s a vocal style not heard in any other Stones song.
Black and Blue is also an under appreciated album. With Memory Motel being a masterpiece!

The clothes on this tour kind of encapsulated the out-of-control excesses of the Stones during the mid-1970s. Everything seemed accentuated, from the scope of the production, the size of the band, even Jagger’s mouth, hair, and how he moved on stage.

Ron Wood after replacing Mick Taylor during the 1975 era plays all the live solos on lead guitar note for note for the Rolling Stones but plays a less melodic and has a choppy galloping style than Mick Taylor or Wayne Perkins. FYI - Ron Wood is a very good guitarist but was picked by the Stones because he's English, Harvey Mandel & Wayne Perkinsare great American born guitarists, but the Stones wanted to keep the core of the band British and that's why they picked Ron Wood and Ronnie was also a good friend of KeithRichards and had done some recording sessions on Ron Woods solo projects prior to Mick Taylors departure in 1974. 1975 Album BLACK & BLUE Hot Stuff - Harvey Mandel - Hand Of Fate Wayne Perkins And Hey Negrita Ron Wood on Solo..Cheers !

The rough edge of Keith's (and Ronnie's) playing is what makes it ROCK AND ROLL. Some people will never understand that. If you want a maestro, listen to Mozart for crying out loud.

When Mick Taylor is in the band the 2 guitar styles were quite different It many times was very much lead versus rhythm Ronnie and Keith's styles are much more similar. There is much more inter Twining styles. I love the debate. I love all the videos of Mick Taylor and Ronnie wood playing together so they don't seem to mind.

Great tune. Billy Wyman is welded to the floor as usual, locked up knot-tight with Charlie. Mick and Keith - what can you say? Sorry, Ronnie is no Mick Taylor. Still, a great little piece of Rock and Roll. “It pick you up, and it put you down!” So true.

Taylor didn’t plY on this track on the studio no need to compare him here. Wayne Perkins played the studio solo as Taylor quit by the time they recorded the album

The Mick Taylor Worshippers, also known as the Mick Taylor Warriors, the Mick Taylor Zealots or the Mick Taylor Mystics, are a very prominent group on certain websites dealing with The Rolling Stones. They determine what is true or false.
      Their credo runs as follows:
Before the guitarist took up full-time employment with the group, RS had been a bum band.
With the glorious advent of Mick Taylor RS were elevated to a high(er) plane.
When he terminated his employment, RS became a bum band again.
So this credo proves that The Rolling Stones have been a bum band for over 55 years and that it was for five years only that they played tolerably well, which fills the Mick Taylor Worshipper with intense delight.

Mick Taylor stones lead guitarist quit before the recording of Hand of Fate and the full album which included it Black and Blue . Richards said it was sort of an audition for guitarists to replace Taylor which included Ronnie Wood, Harvey Mandel, Wayne Perkins, and some big time guitarists . Perkins plays lead on the studio recording of this song, and several other songs on the album Black and Blue circa 1975 , and imho its better than anything wood ever did . I think the Jagger and Richards chose wood because of his personality which was a boozer, smoker , druggie, promiscuous , like mick and keith

Absolutely...Perkins solo on the record is perfect for the song, great guitar player. The Stones prefer Ron Wood because english (Keith's words)...the different level between Waine Perkins and Ron Wood is obvious!

Ron was able to resist to Stones kind of life, the main reason and the fact that he wa Keith's friend.

Somewhat shocking to see/hear a really good solo by Wood. 76 was just after he had joined the band. Everything I've seen later on, say in the 80s, he's a clown and not playing much lead at all. Sounds great here.

No, this was Ron Wood's first album with them....
      Black and Blue
      1976
The lead on the album was played by Wayne Perkins.
