The Rolling Stones catalog of great songs is is vast, sometimes you forget a song that you like only because it was released about the same time that other bigger hits were released. For me, such was the case of "Hand of Fate." I liked it when it came out on the "Black & Blue" album. Fast forward 30+ years. My wife & I were at a bar at sunset overlooking the bay at Charlotte Amalie, USVI, and the DJ put on "Hand of Fate." We both looked at each other and commented the song was so good it felt like we were really hearing it for the first time. It was a feeling we share to this day every time we hear it. What a powerful song!🤘
Video is from the Super 8 footage shot for the Stones for the "Exile on Main Street" promo 4 years earlier. Guy who filmed it passed away not long ago. Song is from 1976. But the two jell together superbly.
Definitely! I grew up in the 70s. After school, age 15. A few buddies gather at ones house. Throw Goats Head Soup on the player. Fire up a joint. Good days! Central FL. 😄

Mean and nasty. Listen to Wayne on the solo. And all the while Charlie is the one holding it all together. HE is the one chugging the Coal into the furnace. The Human Riff doing his thang. And Bill is just solid. Pure Stones here folks.
Donnie Maxwell I do! Found Black & Blue recently. Hell of an album but THIS is the track. Keith being Keith...missing tooth, and still cooler than you or I!!
it really does rock, one of my favorite stones songs. the first lead guitar solo bit is beautiful, and was played by a guy who was never an official, signed/contract stone's member.... as far as i can remember it didn't get any mainstream rock radio stations airplay(in the us of a anyway), maybe due to lyrics subject matter, i dunno . first time i heard part of hand of fate , was around late 1970s/early 1980s while watching a tv documentary of a prison . One of the prisoners had " hand of fate "playing on his record player or cassette player(can't remember which) in the background while they were interviewing him.
One of their
finest Rockers !
The hand of fate is on me now. Was that way since the beginning.
one of my favourites ever!!!!
One of their best!
Great song , and even better when played ( quicker ) live
the mick Taylor days were the absolutely best
I agree but this isnt Mick Taylor playing this song. Wayne Perkins on lead. This is 72 Exile footage on a 75 or 6 Black and Blue track
Yeah, Taylor was gone and Perkins and Ronnie Wood were in the running to replace him.
True. But this is Ronnie's first album.
but Ronnies not playing here.
James Ducharme Then go to those videos & watch them...Is anyone holding a 🔫 on you??
