- 100 point seasons
- Player progression is awesome
- Realistic Teams make it to the finals
- TWF and PWF produce
- Def can get 20 goal 70 points seasons
- Arizona is in game
- CPU trades more it seems

GM Mode is a big Plus for me on the old gen. Say what you want about looks. It plays different which is all I care about.

Pause on McDavid at 24:08, notice how it shows that Johnny is showing the stats for the NHL it also says that Connor McDavid is playing for the Hershey Bears of the AHL
He said the presentation appears to be a copy and paste job. You guys need to really observe and listen. On the Xbox 360 the GM Mode is better in his opinion. When he was playing the game the Computer AI seemed to play a bit better. The puck didn't bounce a much on the dump in. Besides the game seemed to play relatively the same. On the Current Gen(XB1 & PS4) the GM Mode wasn't as good. Be a pro was blahhhh. The game looked great and felt good but there are limited dekes. No EASHL. HUT is the same. Can't play shootout or go against your friends. You guys need to look at the final details. He isn't defending or assaulting the game. He is pointing out the good, the bad and the ugly across the board.

I think if EA can patch in the Draft for NextGen GM Mode, in the first week of release, than you should delay your GM mode series until that patch comes out and do the series on the ONE. But, if they cannot patch it in, in the first week, i think your best bet is to continue the Arizona Coyotes GM mode series on the 360...
Speaking of NextGen GM Mode, i wish they kept the GM Mode look of NHL14, so easy to get around and everyone is used to it. Just looking at the GM Mode screen for NHL15 looks confusing as fuck
The draft wasn't the only problem with the Xbox One version. He also couldn't do the real time simulation for playoff games, see the current stat leaders during the season sim, etc.
The only way I see a GM mode happening on the Xbox One would be watching the computers play each other but even then the numbers would most likely be off. It couldn't be taken as seriously as past GM modes have been...which isn't bad but it would take some getting used to.

@Underdog The simming in the playoffs isnt really a big problem, just sim it like normal games, won't be as intense but whatever. And if Johnny did a GM Series were he shows the computers playing against eachother, that'll be the stupidest thing to ever be watched
The bigger problem is that there's no match viewer. And that it's something that isn't going to be patched in anytime soon (if never). Also next gen has that cool presentation... but, at the same time, it is very impractical compared to old gen. For what I have read and saw, next gen version is just downgraded version and there's no real benefits in it. So I would say just start the Arizona GM Mode on the 360.

does anyone know if players stats for HUT are different for 360 or if they're the same as 14?
Another thing to think about is that each file is a different season meaning that other than the star draft players, everything else is randomized and will never repeat which I like. I drafted Paul Bittner in the 5th round one time and he got up to an 86 overall. In another file, I drafted him again in the 3rd round in which barely got a 79 overall when he hit his prime.
Johnny I was just wondering if you have turned on injury. If so have they changed the way they do injures ??
One thing I'm wondering is if you have for example 2 listed 1st line centers, and you play one on the first and one on the second, will that second line centers progression be slowed down like in the older games and his overall maybe even drop a point or 2? or will his progression continue so long as he produces?
Would you rather NHL 15 on XB1 or the Xb360? I have it for the 360 and ive never played it yet on the XB1, I wish I could though

The colour on the star potential is how accurate their potential rating is. Green is high, yellow is med, and red is low. Someone with a 1 star red potential can grow to be 85-90 overall let's say. It depends how they're placed on the roster

Did they fix scouting though? Many times in GM mode when I send a scout somewhere, he comes back and says hes done with that assignment from a different place than what you selected.
Do created players get better and do real life players get better in their draft year like McDavid (72 start, first year hes 79 going into first season etc) or even broader do players get better in the CHL?

This video really changes my perspective on the game, I had no intentions on buying it and had heard GM mode wasn't good, now I see for myself that it is and people like me who like to take struggling teams and rebuild them can have even more fun. Great video thanks a lot!

Did they fix the rotating goalies thing, So the backup in rangers doesn't play more games than lundqvist for example. That was a huge problem in nhl 14.

Thanks for posting this, just convinced me to get NHL 15 when I thought it was just a $60 roster update. I guess upgrading from NHL 13 to NHL 15 will be worth it.
I'm 4 years into my GM mode and I'm very impressed. When players have good years, they actually get better. For example, I picked up Tarasenko at 84 overall, and when he played with Crosby he jumped to 90. And Crosby does put up a lot of points if you put him with good players.

Johnny how are the CPU GMs? I remember in NHL 14 the CPU teams rosters by year 5 would look similar as they did in year 1. The CPU GMs wouldn't trade much among themselves. Has that changed? Have the CPU GMs improved at all?

They might and that is going to be a hard thing to iron out if it is true that the prospects shots get better than guys like Ovi and Stamkos.

I would have liked to have seen some goalie progression numbers. One thing I have a hard time with is getting my goalies to live up to potential. I also had Nylander for quite a while and he dropped down to 3 stars, hovering around 74-78 overall. So it goes to show that playing the same players differently will result in different growth or lack thereof.

If you notice in the stats, everyone played 82 games each season. So turn injuries on and the point totals should go down

I Have a question how are the goalies sometimes when i was fed up on nhl 14 i played on rookie and get 50 shots and still get one goal on Devan Dubnyk its bullshit
I personally play the game for the GM mode and that is about it. I dabble in the other modes from time to time but I do not play online and I have yet to complete a season in Be a Pro or Live the Life. To me this improvement is AMAZING but I still feel burned by the state of NHL15 on One/PS4. I was going to get the next gen console and NHL15 around Nov/ Dec so I will see what the game is like then, but either way I have a hard time paying the price they are asking, or asking others to do it as a gift. I do not feel the game is worth more then 40$, but it will never be that price.
I also saw some people defending the game by saying the NHL team is about 40 members as opposed to the 300-400 member team in FIFA. What that tells me is that EA pays 90% less in salaries to make NHL but sell it for the same as FIFA. Just throwing that out there.

Great review. I'm glad they fixed the player progression problems. I want to know if there is still stunt in certain attributes on players. I noticed on NHL 14 that most players were stunted on their physical attributes. I'd draft a top prospect (ex 4.5 yellow stars) even green stars and they start at 65 Strength. 7 years down the road when they have matured that stat is still at 65 or it only grew up to 70. Same went with Speed and Acceleration but it was not as severe. I've made about 10 Be a GM profiles in 14 and even superstar potential guys like Mackinnon and Mcdavid would be at 70 STR by the time they reached 27.. Anyone else have this issue with their game?
I wish someday they add a "hardcore" gm mode where there are no overalls or potential. You have to base a player's value on how they play in games/practice/chl like the real world. NHL players don't have overalls. They just have stats from prior years.

Loik leveille is my friend he use to be my neighbor and I play with him back in the day.He is a great player, offensive skill, great slapshot good one timer,very physical got the strongest leg. Kind a weird to find this video talking about him :P

These changes aren't groundbreaking IMO. If everyone is higher overalls and higher potentials like you said, you don't notice a difference when you play, because those players are also higher on other teams. And the fact that the gameplay is the same, this is still NHL 14.5. NHL 15 is pretty much a bust for either gen consoles by this point. I'm just gonna wait for these oh so big updates on next gen before I buy this for PS4

Btw did anyone else notice that now young players can actually skate now? For people like me who like to play some games on GM mode it's so frustrating to play young players because their skating doesn't get any better. They've fixed so many problems I had with gm mode on 14
