I know Garland was like "battle battle battle forever battle" in this game but it makes sense for a guy caught in a permanent time loop
WoL saying that he is going to save Garland too makes sense considering that in FF1's ending when the time loop is broken, the Warriors of Light return to the present where Garland is reformed to the noble knight he once was. I guess Jack got his happy ending after all.
So that mean dissidia ia prolog for ff1?

Man, that little camera zoom in on Garland when WoL tells him that he pities him is hilarious. I forgot how much I love this game. Hope Square remasters it one day.
Same here. But odds are pretty low. The closest we can get to remastering this game right now is emulating it, applying the cheats/mods for it to make it look more polished, and adding in the DLC outfits for the characters.
The second best rival scene. It’s got the Best choreography and frankly watching Garland and the Warrior clash will always be cool. It’s like watching Optimus and Megatron duke it out for the thousandth time. Never gets old
Second best? What about the rest? For myself Tidus vs Jecht is the best, either Firion vs Emperor or Terra vs Kefka is at the bottom.

This scene hits different once we learn that this Garland is actually the will of Jarland who only wants an endless cycle of battles.
Is “Jarland” meant to be Jack?
Jack didn't want an endless cycle of battles, he only wanted the warriors of light to get stronger so they can protect themselves. Jack was the hero but viewed as a villain and nobody will remember him once he is gone by the moogle from dissidia that said too him. Also remember, jack was a different version of garland stated by many in his game so hes from a timeline.

@@PrinceArtemis Jack did not want an endless cycle "at that moment of the game", the Garland of Dissidia implied that after many cycles he developed a kind of pleasure for the endless cycles of battle and with them also an alter ego that wanted to continue instead of stopping them (he literally wanted a new Harmony vs Discord war in DFFOO for example)
Yes, the game stated that but also stated that Jack eventually became the Garland from FF1, this was guessed by Gilgamesh and then by the Emperor both met "Garland" in Dissidia
Also in Different Future is stated and confirms that Jack will eventually fulfill his mission (FF1) in one of the endings
I love this interaction between Jack and Warrior of Light, even during their battle which I love so much, Warrior of Light did his FFI iconic pose artwork by Yoshitaka Amano. Seeing now of feeling back for Jack and his backstory of how he ended up becoming the very person we see him now trapped in endless battles which makes me feel sad for Jack.
From what I've been hearing this Garland and that Jack are two different characters, preferably so in my opinion.
Yeah these 2 garlands are very different people from different dimensions. The jack garland from SOP is the good version of all the other garlands. This garland isn't truly evil but he's not the jack we know.

Jack Garland VA is Mocean Melvin.
Pretty sure Square Enix is treating them both as "separate versions" of Garland.
The garland here, and Jack are pretty much said to be from two separate time lines, so there’s a good chance we would get both characters with their own VAs

People who try to explain how "this" Garland is not the same as Jack miss the point: it is. He is broken and depressed - at this point, in Dissidia, he lost all he ever had. His mission complete, his destiny set in stone, his friends gone, only war - and so he finds comfort in the only thing he understands, the simplest and purest of purposes. Which is why WoL eventually trying to break through to him hits so hard: he comes to honestly pity Garland, and Garland came, in turn, to honestly respect WoL.
Stranger of Paradise is not an OG part of the story but a new one, and therefore, *even if the creators force it as "canon" , we players havethe freedom to not consider it so*

SoP is a fine game but to me it's standalone because Jack's existence clashes pretty hard with FF 1s medieval fantasy themes.

OK if you guys don't mind if I can ask a question? So before we go to the question let me clarify 1 thing: both Dissidia and Kh has PsP titles which is Dissida 012 and Kh BBS (Birth by sleep).
So the question is if they can make a remake or relaunch of Kh BBS in PS4, HOW COME THEY DONT DO THE SAME THING WITH Dissida 012 I just don't understand!?!?

You can still use twin swords though, and grappling techniques. Also chain cancels let you switch weapons on the fly.
