Thanks to this game, Garland will now be known as the man behind the armor: funny Chaos man who listens to nu-metal and skips cutscenes.
And I'm cool with that.
Wasn't nu metal music though, also he has shown to like classic music as well. An he only skips a few cut scenes,and he doesn't really do that anymore.
He's more than a one note baddie. Now he;s a person, a soul that fought against a unfair system and ensured fantasy reigns free, unbound by Lufernain whims
Just finished the main campaign myself yesterday and started chaos difficulty today.
Honestly surprised at how much character progression gets shoehorned into the final 3 missions. Jack and Astos both became rather likeable towards the end.
Nice little origin story, even if it had some of its ridiculour moments and got quite convoluted. Debating whether I should pick up the season pass now.
I'm disappointed you never hear the song he played after the Chaos Advent fight again. I was expecting to hear it in the credits at least.

I really like the contrast between Garland's hammy villain speech and his somber internal monologue. After all, the most heroic thing he can do is to play the villain.

Man I love how this is a prequel for the first final fantasy and I love the context it gives for the series first villains. On the outside you see an evil dark lord and his 4 monstrous generals, but on the inside it’s a guy and his 4 closest friends playing the villains for the greater good

My only disappointment is that he didn’t say the iconic line at the start of the fight: “I, Garland, will knock you all down!”
I just realized something:
Jack waited for 2 thousand years to fight the WoL, and if they fail to defeat Jack he'll reset the time to wait for another 2 thousand years to fight them, again and again till the WoLs finally manage to defeat and kill Jack.
It makes me feel sad and lonely for Jack, to be alone for tens of millennia basically waiting for someone to kill him.
What is the reason why Jack is resetting the event?

To create a warrior with the power of light strong enough to kill them, balance out all of the darkness of the world the game takes place in: Cornelia. Doing so would rid the world of all monsters and all traces of the Lufenians and “put the reigns of history back into the hands of man,” to quote a character from FFXII. (The history part wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the game, I just thought that quote could apply to this game as well)
In the original game (FF1), it's basically stated that the events of the game were part of an endless loop.
Basically, when the WoLs kill Jack Garland at the temple, the Fiends transport Jack 2,000 years in the past, where he survives and becomes Chaos. There, he sends to Four Fiends to the Present, where they cause havoc. It all creates an endless timeloop until the Warriors travel 2,000 years into the past to kill Chaos, breaking the timeloop. With no timeloop, they basically get sent to a new world; one where the Four Fiends never corrupted the Crystals and one where Garland never turned evil. But because there was no evil, the people never knew of the battles the Warriors fought to save the day.
The fact you get to throw hands again as WoL is awesome.
Will forever love the rivalry these two have.
I love that Astos puts a capstone on the grand thesis of this game's story.
Jack Garland treats the world around him with a sense of irreverence, but he does so because the world itself feels like an old friend to him. He has taken part in this game this untold times, and he will gladly do it untold more if it means seeing this world prosper.
Jack Garland is a fan of Final Fantasy.
Its so funny watching Garland buff up and parry like we do as players. Makes the fight feel like a PvP match than a boss fight. :P

Nothing's scarier than being in the rift and then Jack spawns in as a random boss. When he buffs up with teleport and aggressively dodges towards you... that's when I shit my pants lol
There's still a chance that Jack and co are alive after all this. In the original FF, Garland was back in Cornelia now that the time loop had been broken.
But what would he do then? The world will be at peace, so there's nothing for him to fight. He might join Gilgamesh in his eternal wanderings. There'll be no shortage of battles for them, that's for sure.
Damn,i would 100% dig an adventure with gilgamesh and enkidu going through different worlds,meeting random people and cities and fightning for lame reasons most of the time

Honestly, I hope we get more of these "Final Fantasy Origin" style of games, they're so much fun and really shed new light to characters that seemed so simple in paper, hopefully we get more in the future.
I don't see how you can do this with any other game except for maybe III? II has a good, fleshed out story on par with the IV and VI and far above the other Famicom/NES titles, incredibly impressive for it's time. V is simple, light hearted, and comedic on purpose in order to contrast the melodrama of IV. But even with III, they basically tried to do this already with the DS remake? I don't think it succeeds, but they tried. And IV, while already a good story, got an expanded rewrite for it's remake that fleshed things out more. So it definitely doesn't need the treatment.I guess you could Final Fantasy Origins: Mystic Quest? Maybe you could do it with Dragon Quest I and II if we're going outside of Final Fantasy?
@BadWrongFun The only issue with trying to do Stranger/Origins for DQ 1/2 is that Dragon Quest Builders 1 and 2 already do that by exploring the bad end of dq 1 and be a follow up to dq 2 respectively.

F for Jack, he only had one purpose.
After 10 months, the game has come to its end and it is now time to say goodbye to Jack. For a protagonist, Jack has grown on me and has an amazing VA.
This was a good ride even if the main story DLCs were short and heavily power creeped that destroys progression for casual players (Fixed with Extra mode). I clocked in around 170~ hours over the year.
When the game was first announced it started off as a CHAOS meme trailer and no one knew what to expect.
Sadly, the game suffered from sales in the end. Team Ninja did good on the combat as well and you get Definitely your money worth for all the content they put in.
If you enjoy Nioh / Souls games, you would enjoy this as well with all the overpowered builds you can create.
Definitely a GOTY of 2022 for me.
Wish they would continue dropping more DLCs of other FF series.
I am more than sure they would follow the tradition with a future ff game. Maybe origins 2
I'm not sure if Square swings that way with a sequel.
They are in for trying and experimenting with these kinds of games, but most are a dud and end up shutting down or having bad sales.
The recent games they released are already shutting down and didn't last long.
I'm still waiting for World of Final Fantasy 2, if that's ever gonna happen.

In response to other comments here, it's also a shame that due to how shit the remaster was for Crystal Chronicles, we'll likely never see anything related to that universe again. CC's world has so much room for different stories to tell, but it's likely just easier for them to spit out a new FF, then a FF IP counterpart every couple of years.
Honestly, Strangers of Paradise does deserve some love for how crazy it is.

Have you ever wanted a fairy tale about good and evil, be real so badly, that you where willing to play as it's villain.
In a way Jack is the hero, he took the mantle of chaos by hes own will so that way the lufianas could no longer control people he made the greatest sacrifice.
I love how the ending cutscene's dialogue is just vague enough to be about both the WoL's party and Jack's party. God, I can't wait to get this on Steam.
That ending screen gave me some heavy flashbacks of credits of games in which they add at the end of the Special Thanks section the phrase "And you".
I really feel its a shame they put less effort into the ending itself.
This is the big "come full circle" moment, so you would have expected an animated ending scene.
At the least a GCI ending like the opening.
Where after breaking the cycle, you see the WoL and his companions return to Cornelia, having broken the time loop they return to a peaceful Cornelia with everyone safe.
As well as Garland now clad in a more "light/good" version of his armor, posing as the Princess's bodyguard, and his friends beside him.
Smiling at the WoL before approaching him and giving him a bro-fist.
i agree with the cutscene thing, but this is the point. no one remembers what they did not even the WoL since the loop is broken and nothing has happened essentially

Thank you for sharing all these cutscenes from the third dlc. The whole plot and world setting have been quite interesting. I also hope we could have more stories with this cast in the future.
I noticed that after defeating Garland, you can play as Warrior of Light. Could you make a video of soul burst cinematics against bosses, with the appearance of WoL? I think it would look quite impressive.
love how they gave the light warriors jobs that were not in FF1 at the time. this was a pretty solid retelling and added a hefty chunk of backstory to the series beginning. wish they allowed more games like this for the other titles. ff4, 7(seeing the events from seph's and shinra's eyes with vincent and a few others around at that time would be awesome), 8 (definitely 8. playing as sorc. hein leading up to edea's takeover would be epic as pure mage users). 9 since it's a retelling/reboot of the series from the creators vision (and his favorite as it's told as how he would of originally wanted FF to begin).
Playing that story, really ripped my heart apart.
The Warrior of Light wasn't a hero, he was just a tool. Much like Jack.

Man, oh man, I haven’t cried for a video game in years until this game. Both of it’s endings they’ve hit me pretty hard. I adore how they skip directly with pretty much the FFI ending. This game really is a love letter to the series and FFI. As one of the few FFI fanboys I appreciate the love they gave it. I hope it’s a sign that Final Fantasy will be great again.

The first part of the FFVII sequel trilogy, FFXIV and FFXVI are absolutely awesome, I think the series wasn´t that good since the PSX entries.
@@FelixS. I fully agree with FFXVI. That game’s story, cast, presentation, art direction, music, over the top nature combat, themes, world building, and build up all scream Final Fantasy. Outside of the action gameplay and lack of “Party” the games is a near perfect return to form. Feels like the FFXI we should of gotten.
I personally found FFVIIR a complete disappointment. I am personally hoping Rebirth fixes all the mistakes Remake did. It’s to late to salvage it as a traditional remake, so just go bat guano insane as a sequel to the compilation. I’m hoping Angeal, Genesis, and Minerva have a big role in Rebirth.
@@ironrex6979 I am the complete opposite with the FFVII trilogy :) I am glad they made a stealth sequel camouflaged as a „remake“ while actually turning the „remake“ into a meta sub title with narrative meanings. A straight up Remake would have been a disappointment anyway. And I am also hoping those horrible crisis core writing / characters will be ignored completely 😂 but that’s how personal preference works I guess, I hope they will satisfy you with rebirth in one way or the other!
@@FelixS. I found the “meta narrative” to be absolutely pathetic so much that I believe it doesn’t really exist and it was just jurnos being jurnos. Specially since the Japanese script does not have any of this “meta narrative” nonsense. The whispers seem to be related to Geostigma and Jenovah. There’s also the fact they censored and butchered way too much of the story. All for the cursed “modern sensibilities”. I found it way to toned down and it was awful.
I hope Rebirth is much better. Wether it gets a better translation (eng FFVIIR has a really bad script) or ends up getting an M rating (tries to be more FFXVI or SoP). I just want Rebirth to be anything other than, according to Kitase’s April famitsu interview before the games release, “FFVII Disney Remake” 🤢.
I don’t have much of a problem with it being a sequel to the compilation as long as it doesn’t touch the original. At this point I prefer it to be it’s own thing than a remake.
Oh and no a straight up uncensored remake would of actually broken sales records. That’s what fans and consumers wanted.

I've never playerd the first final fantasy until recently, and Just after finishing it I heard about this game, and after playing it all it makes me cry, a real hidden gem, beautiful.
Took several thousand attempts, but WoL finally got his win.

damn man I just finished it all the way through yesterday, Didn't expect that I would teared up at the true ending when the theme song plays for such a weird story and character, Jack start off as a meme and became actual interesting character at the end is definitely not what I expected for my first Final Fantasy game, what a rollercoaster of a game.
This game was a true 10/10 gem. I know that people don't appreciate it now, but in a few years Stranger of Paradise will be talked about in a much-loved light as a hidden gem.
I'll never forget the struggle and sacrifice of Jack Garland and the Warriors of Chaos. They became the darkness that would guide the light to save everyone. A story of rebellion, of casting off the chains of those who bind you to a path that is not your own. To give hope back to the people as well as their own fates in their own hands.
Easily in my top 5 games of all time. Thank you Square Enix and Ninja Theory.

It really was a great story. The way Jack and his friends were completely happy to play the villain to save everyone, even though they knew NO ONE would know their sacrifice. They had no hesitation or remorse about their deaths. You don't see too many heroes that are THAT selfless. I'll miss Jack.
Tbh this game came out a day before my birthday and when I got it I knew it was gonna be a loved game, now look at it now

The ending in this video is when Jack unintentionally took the Crystal, with the Emperor became Warrior of Light, the Loop now can be broken. Also, I think Jack became the same Garland in Dissidia 'cause it is now the same Future as Kupo mentioned.
Honestly, without Jack taking the Crystal, I think it means the Loop will go on forever without someone strong enough to break it, and things will never be the same as they are meant to be...
I love in the final showcase when the two face off and the Narrative said: "...power of light should not be used for dark...", like Jack giving the Emperor (Now WOL) a final warning!!!

@@JamesTheTurnbull we aren’t sure that the moogle is Cid or not, it could be Mog. Either the way the game has nomura involved in it so I imagine there’s a very complex reason behind it

Don’t know how viable it is, but I’ve been using the 10,000 needles move (from an accessory) to get through these bosses. It has a really fast cast speed.

Just finished my playthrough of this game last night. Man, that Astos final monologue and the end credits this time around had me feeling some kind of way after the 360 hours I poured into this game 😂
Just got past rift level 100 prior to attempting the story for the final DLC and also finally got all the achievements. Didn't get deep into the super crazy builds, but I only really did the final DLC story levels on base level Lufenian difficulty, so my gear was still really OP. My final builds ended up revolving around a double guns weapon layout (ninja/marksman), had no idea I'd have this much fun with the guns.
It was fun, but I guess I'll need to finally experience some new games (and maybe also touch some grass!)
Same, I put in 224h into it (I got 100% achievements like 70h in lol) and I'm still playing. But I've finally started playing my other games again. Almost done with FF2 pixel remaster too, I put it on hold while I was obsessed with SOP
@@Walamonga1313 Actually tackled SoP shortly after finishing Ninja Gaiden Black. Its been really fun, especially experimenting with different weapon types; the crazier class switch combos; and some of the creative MP generating methods. But it started becoming a tedious numbers game higher up the rift. When rocking up with suboptimal gear against spongey overlevelled bosses, it became a sustained task of trying to keep consistent. Still loved this game as my first "Souls-like" experience. I've now added both Niohs, Bloodborne and Dark Souls to my backlog. I'll get to them eventually.
Moved on to Kena: Bridge of Spirits for now, though. Straight into master difficulty as I think Lufenian and post level 100 rift in SoP made me feel unstoppable 🤣
Bro,this is how Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy Remaster should be. This is how I exactly imagine everytime I use Warrior of Light against Garland in Dissidia.
I wish that too man. Too bad WoL in Dissidia is not the original WoL from ff1. We may never see them in person as they're a 'fairy tale'. The face Dissidia WoL using is based on Cid and he's actually a manikin. So far the only faces of WoL are those faces and Amano's painting of WoL.

When the elemental fiends are shown in the beginning it’s the same order as the original Final Fantasy.
As the Warriors of Light walk toward Chaos’s throne it shows the trials they overcame: Lich, Marilis, Kraken, and Tiamat.

Oh - we can’t forget that ‘Stranger of Paradise’ has one of the absolute greatest opening cinematic in video game history. Seeing Garland slowly walking through the castle, slaughtering dozens of knights as if they are nothing while he carries an unconscious Princess on his back was *amazing*, and even that is a bit of an understatement!
Totally a wild hope, but id love to see Jack Garland and Enna Kros interact with one another, outside the phone game. I think that conversation, and more than likely the following fight, would be awesome.

I do hope they do other origin story’s for other villains. I wonder if they’ll do one for FF2. Maybe fix the weapon leveling system, because it’s an interesting idea that in my opinion was poorly executed in FF2.
The leveling system def works well in an action rpg so I can see they will remake ff2('s side story) like this

FF2 doesnt have a weapon leveling system, they ditched the standard RPG levels in favor of a "get stronger via real world style mechanics", as in you gained attributes in a more realistic manner. like you take damage, your health pool increases or you use fire magic more you get better at it and can cast more advanced fire spells. it was such an easy system to game, that with a little patience, you could create godlike characters that roflstomped everything from the very beginning of the game.
As the old saying goes, you either die a hero....

Now my question is if, going forward, Jack’s voice actor will be the new English voice for Garland.
I'm under the impression that this ending seen here is from the ending where Jack doesn't take the crystal. This creates the loop seen in Final Fantasy 1, which brings it all around again. While Opera Omnia confirms that Dissidia Garland and SoP Garland are not the same person, ultimately the story ends up the same way - the WoL's break the loop and save the world.
I think the second ending where Jack does take the crystal is setting up a new Dsiddia game,. It seems like Jack will become the god of chaos, and the WoL will become the god of order. That would be awesome to see as a main game, though I do wonder how that would affect Opera Omnia since Jack is in that universe now.
I'm really gonna miss this game! I hope to see Jack and the Strangers again someday, even if it just in crossovers.

Warrior of Light is a skin used for the final story mission in the last dlc. Which is shown here. After completing it, you unlock the skin completely so you can be WoL in appearance only. As for not using a shield, it could be transmogged to be showning no shield. He’s using Dark Knight and White Mage here.
So is Jack dead or alive after Warriors of Light breaking the time loop cycle from defeated him? cause this last DLC has so many questions.
He is alive as shown in Opera Omnia along with his friends but so far Jack only reunited with one of his friends in Opera Omnia. Their story continues in Opera Omnia as the game's story is focus on Post-FF1 showing the effects of FF1 ending.
@@orrthehunter To further expand on this, currently Jack and Astos are the only SoP characters currently in Opera Omnia with Neon on the way. I'm sure that soon enough the rest of the Warriors of Chaos will reunite with Jack

How do I make an OP build to get me through the dlc? I heard Ultima spell is a game breaker.
I kinda brute forced the game by getting 1 shot in 10-20 minute singular boss fights and I can’t endure this CBT anymore.
you don't really need op build if you just wanna finish the dlc,, equip runic protection and do the mission on extra mode as long as that buff is active you won't die
@@yuki_ninam3770 yeah. Thought Lufenian would disable extra mode but it didn’t. However I still need to do the 30 floors of the Rift. So if you know of any ways to become OP I’m all ears!
Update: Breaker broke the game and I went from doing 900 or less damage with charged attacks to 100000 in a matter of minutes thanks to optimizing the build.
If anyone is suffering, spend materpoints of charged attack damage and use the fuse option on the Smithy to create your optimal job affinity as well as playing around with weapon armor stats.
It’s like Nioh but a lot more easy to create your perfect equipment thanks to the many smithing options!

@@shadbonnieakahenrymarcimof6725 That'd be cool. Since the time paradox is resolved somewhat, the FF1 remake would have you explore the world, but without all the references to future titles (which were all caused by Chaos). So it would be an authentic FF1 experience.
I was REALLY hoping Chronodia would show up since that ff2 crossover. Especially that don't fail us line. But that might refer to preventing Lufenia rise again.

I played the crap out of this game on its release, though I’ve not bothered with the expansions. I enjoyed the game for the most part; I originally played it on my Xbox One S and it looked like someone smeared vasoline all over my tv screen. I’ve seen played it some on my Xbox Series X and my PS5 and it looks a lot better on those consoles!
Stranger was, well, kinda strange but mostly a good kind of strange. I wouldn’t mind other Final Fantasy games getting the Stranger treatment.

SoP is basically the story of how Jack became the big bad of FF1 so Jack Garland is Garland of FF1.

In edit party menu, pressing one of the buttons (I think square) opens the option to change skins for Jack to Astos and WoL. You need to have the skins unlocked tho
