Nice bro. I got the 2600 1st but maybe a year later I got The Sega master system II. when I was 7, 32years ago. My most awesomest sister in the world bought for me. (You can only just imagine my shock and excitement when I accidentally discovered Alex the kid!! Came built in)

My first console was a Master System. I asked for a NES but got the Master System instead. It came with Hang On and Space Harrier on the System and I get Double Dragon at the same time. I actually like the Sega version of Double Dragon better than Nintendo because you can play 2 players at the same time.

@@honestfigurereviews Yeah I was pretty surprised myself when I got it because they bought me a small television too because they didn't want me playing video games on the family TV. The game system was from my parents and the TV from my grandparents. We were lower middle class so that was a major Christmas for me.

@@User-wq9ri I bet you were still so happy to get it , especially after playing it and loving the games, you got some good games with it too and I remember how TVs were back then .it was always dad that had rule over it and no one else ,so was great of your folks to think ahead and give you your own TV is amazing .. great memories and there's no stopping you now getting what you didn't get in childhood .. I didn't get anything and loved video games but I'm making up for it now and have so many systems and have a dedicated game room now ,thanks for sharing your gaming childhood memories 🤗

@@honestfigurereviews Yeah I'm trying to catch up on all the old retro games I missed back in the day. Already bought a few emulators. Who would have thought back then you would be able to purchase a console with pretty much the whole NES, SNES, GENESIS, and Master System libraries plus more for a $150. I love electronics and technology.

grew up with nes as well but my next door neighbour had a master system, got to play a lot of sonic and alex kidd back in the day. i remember i didnt like it when it got replaced by the megadrive as i grew fond of master system sonic 1 (i still prefer it over the megadrive version today). i also remember when the cartridge woudnt get read the system would boot up alex kidd which was annoying i found back then. overall a neat system.

The advertisements for the first model of this (wich included the pistol, one joystick, the 3d glases and one built in game wich I think was afterburner!!) made me salivate, but my parents wouldn't buy it for me. In the mid nineties I was able to enjoy some master system games trough emulation.

My first console was a MegaDrive II. Got it in 2000 for free from an older cousin who was gaming on a N64 by then.
I LOVED it. Spent most of my childhood playing Sonic 3, Chuck Rock and World of Illusion.
My dad was renting a second appartment near the sea with his friend who had a PS1, and I liked playing on that as well, but not gonna lie I preferred the Sega lol.
It was always wild to me that they made another console before that.

I had that awful joystick because it was the first stick you could get for the Master System. I didn't like the idea of d-pads. Arcade games use joysticks! I don't know why arcade style sticks were so rare for consoles and computers in the 80s.

be careful with those cleaning towels, you can end up having sticky plastic if they're too aggressive. I had this before with an older laptop and a controller, the plastic was clean, but...they remained sticky 😅. Some chemic in the tissue basically melted the plastic and yeah, a mess. There is some stuff out there to fix it, but better avoid :D

I only saw the original Master System on sale when they were still on shelves a couple of times around 1987-88 they were only available at special stores.(I've never seen a master system 2 I don't even think they were released in the US)I saw the original once at a toy's r us and another at some specialty electronics store.I owned a Master System adapter for the Genesis and a few games a very long time ago but In the past few years through emulation I've discovered the entire library and some ports to be far superior to the NES and the first one that comes to mind is DOUBLE DRAGON. I was expecting the NES version to be true to the arcade like the master system version was 2 player simultaneous was a big thing back then.I was very let down on Christmas morning 1988 as the NES port was pretty disappointing even for a 9 year old in the late 80s.Another game that makes the master system shine is R-TYPE its not a NES port because I don't think it would have even been possible to make a game that looked that good on the NES especially pre 1990.

First console was Atari 2600. We got Sega Master System early in its life. First game was default game, Hang-on and Safari Hunt (Light Gun). We also got Rambo, Astro Warrior and shortly after, Black Belt. The joystick really sucked as its a Right handed Joystick. The original controllers had screw hole in the center of the pad that allows you to screw in some joysticks to give you that home arcade feel (didn't really work though). Black Belt was the best game at the time and I found out later its based on Fist of the North Star later.

The Master System was my first console. Your console is the model 2 and won't support 3d since it doesn't have a card slot. Growing up my friends and I would get different systems. I was one of the Sega kids (Master System / Genesis), there were Nintendo kids (NES / SNES) that way we could rent and play everything.

  • @Sinn0100
    @Sinn0100 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Fun Fact Part 1: Did you know that arcades originally featured the buttons on the left side of the joystick? The reason all controls were made that way was because developers felt since most people are right handed it would cause them to dump more money into the machines.
Fun Fact Part 2: Despite arcade developers left button setup to milk players of their money people invariably got used to the left handed controls. That is when the arcade developers switched to the right side control scheme we know and love today. They never switched it back because invariably it was a futile attempt. People in short order would get around the little scheme so why bother?
Fun Fact Part 3: The Sega Master System arcade stick was created just after the left to right switch. They wanted to emulate the arcade experience to the letter but were a little behind the times. Thus why they have the strangest arcade stick ever made for 8-bit consoles. It's not the strangest...I give that one to the Street Fighter II Pro Pad for the 3DO. What was up with that nonsense?

But there were good games on the system at least Sega made a adapter to play Master System games on your Sega Genesis/ Mega Drive but know that they are expensive to buy second hand or even new in box. Too bad a new company couldn't make a new version that can hook up to your Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.

Sorry but this is far from ultimate. I spent the last 5 years researching and developing mod kits for the Master System 2 to make a real ultimate Master System 2. All were available in 2023.
1 - I designed a quick solder switchless region mod which support 50/60Hz switching, a power LED, switchless FM sound, a Japanese BIOS, and pause on two controllers.
2 - I developed a pause button PCB which fits into the standard SMS controller which works with these boards. The video rate, the Japanese BIOS, and the FM sound can all be controlled using the controller.
3 - I developed a quick solder Japanese BIOS which connects to the switchless region mod and allows a real Japanese mode for certain games.
4 - I developed an FM sound module adapter so Tim Worthington's FM module can be installed in an SMS2.
5 - I developed an RGB Encoder Switcher mod which allows real PAL and NTSC colour to be switchable for the first time ever. So the console can be truly multi region. Only possible with this mod.
6 - I developed the world's first zero wire active and passive AV mods for Master System 2 which allows composite video and RGB video with a no wire install.
Pair my 6 mods with a 3D glasses mod, Tim Worthington's FM Sound Module, and a real Master Everdrive, THEN you have the current ultimate Master System 2.

Try to connect a different controller like Xbox 360 and re-config this controller again.

The built in game Alex Kidd in Miracle World was very demanding..I don't think it was ever completed in our family..graphics looked great for the day..did complete Sonic the Hedgehog though..at least twice..I used to buy and trade the games usually 2 for 1 with unboxed carts..oh and incidentally..we still have the Master System II today over 30 years later..and it's for sale..Wicked..do you want a second one for your collection? Not perfect condition though..cracked sliding cart cover..nice video..

I thought the 3D glasses only worked on the master system model 1 as there was no card slot on the master system 2 for them to connect to
