Now I understand why open mouth cost more. There is more work involved than I expected. Thanks for sharing.

I love your work and have been enjoying learning from the videos. The one thing I would critique on this one is I really prefer when you explain the why of what you are doing.

Its not that easy, trust me. First time I tried this i messed up four times, trashed it, then took 3 days and still looked wonky. This lady is a freaking artist dude im telling you.

This is great! I’ve just started taxidermy and have done a couple raccoon rugs. I bought the rug form pre made but really enjoyed seeing you make these and will be putting it in my future arsenal if needed! Thank you for making videos! I know it’s not easy!

The wood cutouts you initially poured the expanding foam on, do those come off after or do they stay?

Literally just searched for days on how to install a jaw set for a raccoon mount I purchased. I plunged head first into about a week ago. However, seems I did it the hard way! I used Apoxie in pink to set the jaw. I don’t hate the way it came out but I did realize how crappy of a skinning job I did on the lower lip when I went to put the hide on. It was my first mammal attempt. Working on one with feet next. Question: when you mount the head on the form is it still moist and then do you break the hide or was I suppose to break the hide then moisten the head to mount? Breaking the hide was super hard mounting the head first so I’m sure I did it wrong!

Hi Victoria, Yes I’d highly suggest breaking the hide FIRST (but leave the head alone) then rehydrate the head area when you’re ready to mount it ! Makes things much easier !
