That’s what I thought, I have a white Texas dall I got in Texas as well. This one looked a bit different, smaller frame, but I figured that’s what it might be called
Beautiful work as always, my dear. When I was younger, I wanted to be a taxidermist. I started working with fish but I found it was too hard for my little brain and I gave it up. Stay safe God bless.🇨🇦✌️
Excellent Video! I have only mounted maybe 5 rams ever, All of them are STANNNNKEYYYY!! Lol No matter what deodorizer I used, they always have a Musky smell!! Lol
Dang Amy, you make it look so easy, very nice!! Having the body parts available has to be a huge help, heck I struggle with fitting the forms to the hide, seems there is hardly a.perfect fit. Thx for sharing your expertise!
Sheep do not have any top teeth in the front of their mouth, they only have top molars in the back and a hard palette in the front, like a cow. So it wasn't bitten by another sheep. Maybe if they used a dog to track it after it was killed it might've chomped into it.
True, that’s a great observation. I wasn’t thinking too deeply when I made that guess, but it looked a bit like the size and pattern of a sheep’s front (bottom) teeth. It would be an odd angle though, so probably unlikely. Who knows! I did not see the presence of any canine teeth but it could have been a dog. If not a bite, I wonder where else could have done it. The hair is partially healed over now
What forms and eyes did you use I have two of the same sheep that I am mounting for a customer can you send me the link to the forms and eyes I would really appreciate you are alsome at what you do great job
Amy, use Q-tips next time when applying the dryer sheet to cover the ear hole. It's better than getting glue on your fingers. Just toss the Q-tip when you're done.
Question. I'm making a whimsical taxidermy that I want to create polymer clay wings for, how would i go about attaching them? I was almost thinking set screws so they could be removed?
I'm not having any luck where I live getting any mentor, apprenticeship at a taxidermy shop. If I decide to start learning on my own, do you know or recommend a place to buy or way to obtain hides to learn the trade with?
There are many resources available through Facebook - groups to check out are “Trapper to Taxidermist”, “taxidermy 101” and “taxidermy Lab”. These groups can help put you in touch with others that have hides and tools available
