I was getting so overwhelmed with everything and had no idea where to start. I've watched/taken notes on 3 of your videos so far, and you really break down these processes in an easy to understand way! I like that you always explain why you're doing what you're doing, too. Thank you!!!
Amy, those ear turners are downtown girl. I definitely need to invest in a few sizes of those. Just finished a Yukon Lynx on a finger, again, for the like 550 th time this decade.
Amy your videos are some of the most informative on youtube and Im not kidding, you really are a great teacher. Like I said, Im a trapper, not a taxidermist, but I enjoy watching your videos so much Ive watched them all even though I have no desire to get into taxidermy! Just interesting to watch/learn how things are done. Cant wait for more videos, thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. Like I said, your tanning video and those geared toward guys doing a couple hobby crafts for themselves are the best I have seen on youtube and I have watched HOURS worth of videos on the topics. The filming, sounds, lighting, instruction are the BEST and you should be proud of that!
Very concise articulate professional The most informative easy to understand very useful instructional videos by a very very talented taxidermist that I've ever seen You can tell that she loves what she does and loves helping people Just simply Amazing
Great video Amy. This is why I pay a good taxidermist to do this. The first thing I would do trying to turn out those small ear flaps is slip through the hide and run the knife into my finger! Really appreciate you showing the process.
Really appreciate you doing these videos Amy, Im not into taxidermy, but Im a trapper interested in tanning and putting up my own fur, your channel has quickly became my favorite for info that helps me do that. keep em coming! I'd like ot make some wall hangers and maybe even some fox/beaver rugs/hoops for decoration, would like to see any additional videos you make regarding those endeavors. You make some really quality instructional videos, sounds, lighting is all really really good, and you're a great teacher, slow/step by step and explain everything in detail, so many videos leave me with questions but you do a very thorough job and I appreciate it! I'm learning tons, your tanning video was the absolute best I have seen and I've ordered products you recommend because of it. Again, really appreciate you making these videos for those of us who arent pros, trained right, and would seek the pros for work that we wanted at that level, but for those of us who dabble in doing something with fur when prices are the lowest they have ever been, you give us hope to make something we can give as a gift or for our own enjoyment and I for one really appreciate it. I know Im not pro level, and like I said, the big stuff is still sent to those who do it everyday, but some of us enjoy making something to hang on the wall and get some value out of all the work we put in.
Thank you for your videos. My teenage twin daughters are very interested in learning how to do taxidermy and have learned a lot from you (as have I in supporting them).
Ditto for what all the others said: amazing talent and great teaching ability too! I do not want to be a taxidermist (too many other hobbies already), but it’s really fun to watch you work. Thanks!
Amy I want to thank you so much for your videos, they have been a great help for me. I started taxidermy and tanning not long ago but I’ve always been fascinated by it. I do it as a Hobby and it helps me incredibly well with coping with my problems in life and let’s me get up in the morning. Without your videos I wouldn’t have had the courage to start and I want to thank you so much for making this possible. Whenever I’m in a bad mood and can’t motivate myself to do anything because my depression hit again I watch one of your videos and instantly cheer up and get new motivation to get up and go work on my pieces. I aspire to be as good as you one day, even though it will probably take years and years of practice, but so be it. Thank you again for your great content and your great work.
Great instructions. Great timing. As i am going to do my very first soft tan using a raccoon. Also love the lighting. Makes a hugh differnce in being able to fallow along.
TH-cam is fine with the blood and what not in these type of instructional videos just FYI you do amazing work , Im a new taxidermist and enjoy your videos, you and Cedar ridge chronicle are both amazing instructors/ teachers!!
Thank you.. and while TH-cam will allow the videos to be posted, they will not monetize a video with blood! Which is unfortunate when I put a lot of time into the video.
You are very talented with the scalpel Amy! Ive been tanning hides for a long time but have really learned a lot from your videos! Thanks for sharing your great info!
When you do it the first time it takes AWFULLY long, but as you get to know the process and the exact anatomy it’ll get easier and faster! It took me 3 hours to flesh my first boar hide… the face? Was ok i think, the ears? we don’t talk about the ears here xD
I used to trap the interior of Alaska where I was born an raised. Stating out I would practice splitting the eyes lips an ears of marten when I would skin for both my brothers in law I would do this on wolves and wolverine. Great video
You can do it! Turning noses on little things like this is easy. Just split down the middle and slightly open up the wings. Once it’s tanned, chipping the cartilage off for mounting is a little more challenging. Guess I need to do another video on that
It looked like you left the cartilage attached to the other side of the ear. Do you remove the cartridge from the ear totally? I am about to start on a coyote. My first attempt! Thank you
Yes I hold it in a very unconventional way.. it looks even more odd to me when I play back a video. What can I say, it seems to allow me to access certain angles and wield it faster than most
checked your site and couldnt find a price for rabbits. If you can how much? if not who would you recommend that can do a good job? Had a few done in the passed and ive been unsatisfied. also they have been swamp rabbits and one taxidermist said they dont make a form for them and he had to use a jack rabbit form. looked horrible lol any info would be nice. thanks
When would be the best time to sew any holes/tears? Would you do that prior to starting the whole tanning process, before breaking the hide, or after breaking? Thank you!

Truly amazed with you. I've been doing Taxidermy over 50 years now.
Praise to Amy for helping others perform masterpieces

Thank you! You don’t know how much this helps us beginners!

Never seen someone use a scalpel this way. Very nice work!
I hope you will continue with the process. Can’t wait to see the fleshing wheel and how to tune the blade.
Thank you for your videos. My teenage twin daughters are very interested in learning how to do taxidermy and have learned a lot from you (as have I in supporting them).
Another good one Amy! ..details of how to use a fleshing machine for a future video idea 💡

My God, I didn’t realize there was that much finesse needed to prepare ahide for mounting. Thank you ever so much. Take care God bless.🇨🇦✌️😊

as a hunter i like doing as much as i can before taking the hides in. thanks for the lesson
Thanks for the information I learned alot. Could you do a video on skinning feet out?
Hi great videos when doing a whitetail how do you know what size ear liners to order?
You really have amazing skill. You make it look so easy. I skinned my first bobcat today and it too an embarrassing amount of time.
When you do it the first time it takes AWFULLY long, but as you get to know the process and the exact anatomy it’ll get easier and faster!

Great vedio Amy
Do you have a video of deer mounting start to finish
Very good video again Amy.I don’t know why I have so much trouble turning noses.

You are truly gifted I have a question, do you sharpen your scalpels?
Enjoyed the video.. Have a great day.. ( my little dog Izzy slept right through the barking that time lol )
It looked like you left the cartilage attached to the other side of the ear. Do you remove the cartridge from the ear totally? I am about to start on a coyote. My first attempt!
Thank you
Good job sis
So glad I found your channel! Great information!
Could I use this ear turning method for rabbits ?
Very good instructions!👍🏻😎
A true TALENT ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I saw your tanning video. Do you tan your deer capes the same way?
That was super helpful, thank you!
Gran trabajo saludos
The Bob Ross of Taxidermy!!!
Very interesting and informative. Well done
Great video as usual!!!
Thank you Amy! Great video!! You are AWESOME
Great information well done, interesting way to hold the scalpel, really works for you awesome job!
Yes I hold it in a very unconventional way.. it looks even more odd to me when I play back a video. What can I say, it seems to allow me to access certain angles and wield it faster than most

Great video

Thank you!
Thank you
Do you remove eyelash glands when turning deer eyes?
Not on the initial turning I do not. After tanning I will do my detail shaving and remove them then
Thanks
Hey Amy
