@ScottStenlund You haven't watch demidov much either , his vision is insane and this is why he got some insane pass (his teamate sometimes don't get it because they didn't though he could do that pass)
And we don't know who's right or wrong right now , we will know that in a couple of years. Demidov will probably be in a good team faster as well because we are about 2 years ahead in our rebuild. But honnestly i think both will become insane players and both will get the chance to touch the cup.

i can imagine Demidov with Suzuki, because i think they are complementary. Demidov would just have to make his magic and Suzuki would focus on the rest and setting him up. Also, i think Suzuki is one of the most underrated center in the league, and with Demidov with him, I would not be surprise if he puts up points around the 100 mark at least once. Suzuki is not spectacular one bit, he's more the quiet type, but give him the right wingers and he may just fly. He's not in the Kucherov category in playmaking, but closer than most people think IMO. We tend to forget Suzuki potential sometimes, so hopefully we'll get a reminder soon!

@@pierre-yvesdubreuil9315 What i like about the possibility of slaf and demidov is that both past the puck with extrem force and speed. Not a lot of players are passing this way that often in a game. I also think that 8M for slaf mean 1 line winger in the long run for sure. I would rather push Caufield on the second line , i think he would be even better scorer with lesser opposition and stil with good players (if dach stay healthy for once in his life)

@pierre-yvesdubreuil9315 slaf has the most skill and upside on the team (not including demidov) he's also big and does everything else really well! He'd be perfect on that line! He's so good at protecting pucks and retrieving them too! He'd keep the puck in the other teams zone giving suzuki and demidov more chances to do things.

  • @patatedouce3206
    @patatedouce3206 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Good for us that we have Bobrov in our scouting team. I think that Mtl should and would invest in the scouting and development staff since that's the only place that we don't have a salary cap (KH & JG know that and it's a big part of the Habs success).
btw, the last time that we got a great core of young players mixed with great veterans was in 1986. We just need those veterans in 2 years when we'll be ready for the long run (no offense to those in the team right now).
Also, Demidov actually dominated the MHL but the skills he got can be transferred to the NHL. He will have a lot less time and space (he will need one year of adaptation) but at the same time, teammates will have a lot more skills than his SKA teammates so I think it will be fast for him to adapt his game.

  • @zblip22
    @zblip22 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

One could say that Demidov's style of play could be not entirely compatible with the NHL and for this reason, Celebrini is a safer pick. But one could also argue that Celebrini's style could also be less effective in the NHL, after all, both depend on their ability to adapt their game to the NHL speed. Demidov isn't a one trick pony, far from it. His success doesn't depend on speed alone or strength alone or any single attribute. He is simply a virtuoso at dangling through players, improvising quick plays on the go, shooting top corner while in movement etc etc etc. He averaged not one, but two points per game. This, independently of the caliber of the league he played in, is crazy.
He is simply the most talented hockey player we have seen in years. To me, this sounds like a guy that has the potential to adapt quickly to the NHL, because whatever he does with the puck is magic and unpredictable. Celebrini is super efficient in all facettes of the game. He could very well be the one who finds out that a lot of the things he took for granted in the minors, don't work anymore in the big league. I think Celebrini could join the NHL sooner than Demidov. But give Demidov an extra year to push his skill level one level up, and he could be entering the league in the top line, ready to produce full steam ahead, without having to adapt his game! Lane Hutson, as we saw, didn't look foolish at all and was 2 in 2 in his first two games. His tricks did work and his vision still was effective. I think that there is a real possibility that Demidov outplays Celebrini in the big league.

When I hear people say "yeah but Demidov played in the MHL", I'm like so what?
If Demidov played in the OHL, he still would have killed it.
Demidov could play in NHL right away (2024-2025).
If he did, he would have 50pts+ for sure.
There's no room for him now, so we're hoping he gets lots of ice-time in the KHL.
It's better if he plays for a bad team and has lots of ice-time than playing for a good team and have poor ice-time.
He'll make the Habs roster in 2025-26.
Unless there are trades, the top 6 in 2025-26 will be Slaf, Suz, Caufield, Dach, Demidov and Newhook.
Mark my words, the next trade deadline and off-season for Kent Hughes is going to be very busy.
Dvorak, Armia, Pezzetta, Evans and Savard will all be UFA June 1st 2025. Harvey-Pinard will be RFA.
This gives lots of room and $$$ for MTL to offer a massive contract to Draisaitl.
    SlafkovskyCaufield
    DraisaitlDemidov
    RoyGallagher
You can patch/plaster the 4th line with depth. Resigning Evans for 1-2 years is an option for a 4th line center.
If Harvey-Pinard doesn't have the season of his career, they should let let him go and not qualify an offer to his RFA status.
It will be a make it or break it season for him. If it's a break it season, then no other team is going to get him unless they need a plaster.
With all the players down the pipeline, I wouldn't worry about the 4th line.
Laval will have a bunch of changes for 2025-26.
Mesar required a trade when he was told he wasn't going to play for Laval yet.
Beck is eligible to play another year in the CHL because he'll only turn 21yo in Feb.
Since Mesar and Beck won't be playing for Laval, they patched 1 year contracts on older players.
Kapanen has some nice upside, but will play at least another year in the Sm-liiga.
If he can be NHL ready for 2025-2026, that would be awesome. I think he be better than Roy and replace Gallagher in the future.
There's this other kid, Rohrer, who plays in the Swiss A. He's another guy that should be brought over to NA.
We'll see how much Farrell, Kidney, Heineman and F-Xhekaj are going to grow surrounded by a bunch of AHL semi-veteran plasters in Laval.
Hage is going to be a top 6 but it could be a year or two later in 2026-27 or 2027-28.
I am expecting Michkov to have some competition for the rookie of the year in 2024-25.
Cutter Gauthier, Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, Logan Stankoven, Lane Hutson, Mavrik Bourque and Shane Wright.

Big difference to, is you are comparing the Bergevin era and how they drafted vs the Hughes era and how they draft. I don't think anyone will disagree that Hughes' team drafts better.
Probably the few good drafts that stands out from the Bergevin era is Guhle and Caufield. As far as trades, probably the Patches trade to Vegas and getting Suzuki back. But outside of those 3 players, what did Bergy do for 10yrs?

Hughes had all his good picks and players to move for more picks at least from the Berg era. Joel Edmundson , jeff petry / romanov / Artturi Lehkonen / Ben Chiarot / Tyler Toffoli (Anderson had they trade him the same year they send Toffoli to the Flames when he had value) and for the pipeline , he left Suzuki/Caufield / Strubble / Harris / Ghule/Mailloux. He did that mostly with first round pick late in the draft from 10 to 25 or without first rounder or second rounder half those years. Timmins wasn't the problem , The Core of the team needed to change (the mentalily to always try to make the playoff every year no matter the cost) And he wasn't the only one choosing for the pick because i heard some players he was pushing that we didn't take and it would have been HOMERUN PICK , kinda sad for him he was with montreal all those year , a waste. Trading sergachev or mcdonnagh and other prospect wasn't his fault either. also montreal got 15 impact players out of 30 in those 10 years for 50% next washington is 13 impacts players out of 29 pick for 44.83% and nashville 14 impact players in 34 picks for 41.18%.
