    One my top ten of all time. It's just one of those games that clicked for me. Love the story and combat, and there's a pretty big world to explore. The loot is pretty cool aswell. So many different magical items, weapons and armour that drop along the way.

      Played the original on the Xbox 360 and agree with all of the above. It was an unexpected sleeper hit for me that punched all the right buttons. My only gripe with the original was that the dungeons were a bit bland/boring in terms of layout and scenery. I don't know if this was resolved in the remake.

    It seems like if it isn't souls like reviews hate it. Well guess what, people still enjoy just good old fashion hack and slash. This games combat is as advanced as you want it to be. It can be simple if you like or incredibly complex its up to you.

    • @johnrairdin1890
      @johnrairdin1890 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don't think I said anything about not liking the combat. I did say I'd enjoy a targeting system but that's more an Ocarina of Time thing than a Dark Souls thing.
      Glad we both enjoyed the game ;)

    This is one of the best ARPG game that ever existed, if you never played this gem its simply Elder scrolls + WOW + Fable with the combat system of modern Assassins Creed or even God of war, and beautiful other mechanics like stealth with the fancy finisher moves, if you never played this definitely go for it! And in case you are already a fan this is must have in your switch library! Brings back pleasant nostalgic feelings and joy of this beautiful gem.

    • @RandomPinoyGamer

      Depending on how many points they docked for the target lock here (I don't agree with point systems but I know most people do) we can PROBABLY safely assume it's a .5
      An 8/10 from NWR is extremely respectable. Especially since this is a damn 9 year old title.
      Tho rating Skyrim 9.5 hardly seems fair when you think about it doesn't it? Skyrim's score in their review sounded like it was due to it's porting, and koa was rated as a brand new "remaster".
      Doesn't include price point. Even docking points for the aging combat system in KOA when there was no mention of how bad Skyrim's combat was even for it's time in their review.
      When somebody looks at both reviews just for the score, it's not even a fair comparison.

    I bought it long ago but never really played it much. It works so well on the switch though and I'm really enjoying it. Highly recommend it if you like rpg/hack and slash games.

    Looks like a PERFECT fit on switch so I bought it and I disagree with the reviewers thoughts. The game ages well for those who liked it originally… just like any other old game.
    It’s pretty lazy though in my option to review THIS game but constantly compare it to other games from 7 years ago. Who not review THIS game and how it plays on switch specially??? Or how it’s different from the console edition originally???

      @NinWRTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you're enjoying the game, I liked it too :)
      Everyone goes about reviewing older titles differently but for myself I think it is important to provide some historical context. I do feel that after a brief intro I go in pretty specifically on Amalur itself and cover Switch performance as well. That being said I appreciate the feedback and will keep that in mind with future reviews! Thanks!

    I love talking about this game as much as I love playing it. It's nowhere near flawless, and it was this way when it came out, but it was a DAMN good first try. But the Kurt Schilling vs. Rhode Island saga is just as interesting as the game itself. It's part of gaming history, and it's always just as interesting to talk about as it is to play it.

    I wish the original two dlc’s could have increased level cap to like 60 over 40 and added new abilities to unlock. More enemy variety would have been nice. Maybe add more races to play as like the Fae, Gnomes, Colossi etc. maybe if we ever get a sequel or the expansion will add in a lot of new things like that. Probably not but, it would be nice. I just hope level cap will be increased and new abilities would be amazing

    To be honest certain aspects of this game already felt dated when it first released. The world design was dull and lifeless compared to every TES since Morrowind whereas the wooden and stiff dialogue made you want to put in Mass Effect or Witcher 2 again just to make sure you were still in the right time period. I think going back to it now will probably do this game more favours than playing it on release - today you expect it to be a bit dated, back then you were counting on it being on par with its competition. The one thing I remember fondly was its combat, which was genuinely fun and miles better than the wonky travesties of other real-time RPGs.

    I always heard it was a game full of MMORPG fetch quests but not actually a MMORPG so I always skipped. If I ever see it on sale will give it a go though. I recently played Dragons Dogma (another sleeper RPG) and became addicted so it's only fair to play this properly.

    For those who have enjoyed this game, do you think there is enough enjoyment within the game to see past it's age?
    I've wanted to play this for many years, owned it on 360 but never ended up playing it. I still want to play it, however, I generally have a hard time with staying interested in outdated games; a flaw in myself I am genuinely disappointed about. I was a huge fan of all the Fable, God of War, Legend of Zelda games; and see a lot of those in this.

This, Dragon's Dogma, Zelda, Immortals, DOS2, Xenoblade, Octopath, Ys, Fire Emblem and many more. I'd love to have Morrowind on Switch. Until then, there's always Remote Play. 👁️

    Skyrim is still being played, breath of the wild not so much. Why? Botw was a novelty act, initially fun to play but you soon find the game lacks depth,immersion and ownership. There is no choice & the story is weak. Botw is good but it’s never going to be a game as played as Skyrim.

      @@Goggyling I agree with StellaRhyme3 to a point. BOTW has staying power, but I've never seen any game with the staying power of Skyrim. Stella's also correct about BOTWs lack of deep immersion from the story. You can blame Miyamoto for that. The man despises deep storytelling in gaming, and though I can see that for Mario titles, Zelda would benefit greatly from deeper storytelling and world building.

      No choice? It's got so much choice. You can literally choose to do as much or as little of the main quests as your want. Or you can skip it and go straight to the last boss.
      Can you go and fight Alduin straight away? No you have to complete the linier story.
