This is no simple task. I had it done under warranty. It read remove cab and disassemble motor the gaskets and Orings were staggering. The crank has to be lowerd. This is not an external seal.
Y'all are brave as hell wrenchin on an almost 7k truck on those ramps....😂 Real faith in God type stuff. Seriously, great video. Good stuff. "Is that expertly installed? Nah, but it's in there...." LOL well done gentlemen.
Any update bub I just sprayed the hell under my truck with break cleaner and I think I’m in the same boat no oil leaking around the oil pan except for the back where the tranny connects to the bell housing
I see you did not put the required gray ford silicone on the top of the cover and in the middle. You scraped it off. But didn't replace it. Hopefully it doesn't leak again.
Its pretty much a complete disassemble. The rear seal goes around the crank between the block and the rear of the crank the bottom is pressed in with the oil pan but you have to loosen the crank shaft to get the upper part of the seal in its journal then retork the crank mains dont know of another way to describe this those other rubber seals are just oil seals
Ok bub I got one more question sorry about all these questions but was there 6 bolts on the torque converter just dropped the tranny and looked at the bolts and there’s 8 bolt but I only took 6 nuts off
As a parent of two boys now in their early 20’s you two should be proud of yourselves. I’m impressed

You Boys did a good job, I'm proud of you guys, please keep letting your little brother be the narrator .
Great video! I’m doing mine now. I can’t figure out how to disconnect the dipstick tube. How did you do it?
I was 100!!! Great job boys I’m a diesel mechanic myself and you guys remind me when I was young

Did you see how much clearance they have under their truck ????
If the ramps fail there’s still not a problem…..
@@420HughMungus clever name. Yeah, uh, sorry, ain't trying to be a dick-- just something I noticed. Maybe I am safety conscious to a fault.
Awesome to see young people getting it figured out. Thanks for the vid
This deserves more views!

I didn’t know Ryan Reynolds had a TH-cam channel
Great video man. Doing this job an a 6.0 soon. God bless.
What's wrong with your voice dude😅
Doing mine today. Huge help
I know this isn’t about this video but if my flex plate is broken will I still need to disconnect the torque converter before removing transmission?
No, if the flex plate is completely broken the you should have to remove the torque converter bolts.
Any update bub I just sprayed the hell under my truck with break cleaner and I think I’m in the same boat no oil leaking around the oil pan except for the back where the tranny connects to the bell housing
Sounds like rear main seal
@@wethepeeples8309 thanks bub 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 how’s yours holding up so far
It held up fine as far as I know the client that we did it for sold the truck not long after we replaced it. And it wasn’t leaking a drop then.
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to document it!
Question, how did y’all get seal off? I’m pulling mine right now and got the tool to install but don’t know how to get the old one off
If you take the rear cover off the engine you can pull it off by hand
Did you have to drain the oil from the engine?
No
How did you remove the cover plate, that slides onto the crankshaft after installing the seal?
We didn’t pull the cover plate off after installing the seal as far as I can recall.
How much it does cost
The parts are around $200 I think and the labor at a shop would probably be $800 to $1,000
Where are you located

We replaced it with red RTV silicone so it should be good.
What about the wear sleeve?
We took the old one off and the new seal had a wear ring already on it
I have this problem on my 6.4

Which truck is that?
It was a customer’s truck
Would this be the same process on a 6.0?
Yes
Hey bub did oil pour out when you removed the plug for the torque converter bolts
No it did not.
Ok bub I got one more question sorry about all these questions but was there 6 bolts on the torque converter just dropped the tranny and looked at the bolts and there’s 8 bolt but I only took 6 nuts off
how many hours was this job?
I think around 8 or 10 hours
This just happened to me and unfortunately I have to put mine in the shop. Great video!
Thanks!
