- Hey y'all! I finally got around to trying American Eagle/Aerie. Unfortunately I think it's a fail. I think their largest size is just too small for me.

literally 90% of my entire closet is american eagle/aerie clothes. it definitely took some trial and error to figure out what fits and what doesn't fit me! i carry weight everywhere (lol) but mostly in my stomach, so the soft and sexy tops don't look the best on me because they seem to always be too short. the jeans i always get are either super super stretch, or the next level stretch denim and they are the perfect amount of stretch! oh and also i think the super high rise or regular high rise works best. the aerie chill leggings are the only leggings that i wear, ive had them over 2 years now and they are still perfect! all the cardigans and sweaters i order in an XL, but the regular shirts i wear an XXL usually EXCEPT in the aerie line of tops. i order a size 18 in the jeans and a size XL in the leggings. if you ever order from them again, make sure to look at the product details on each product, it definitely helps! hope this extremely long comment helps someone lol😂😂😂

Ugh! I just don't understand how a size 20 or xxl can be so different from brand to brand. In this day and age of online ordering they should get it together!
Nothing special about this except that it fits. I cracked up when you said that. I gave up on AE/Aerie a long time ago. The only thing I can reliably fit is their earrings. 😬 Thanks for sharing !

The orange sweater is cute! I actually own that sweater in 3 colours! It’s cold where I live so I get a lot of use out of them. I like the oversized look. I guess it’s one of those things that everyone has a different feel for. Thanks for sharing!

I have the same mom jeans I had to size up 2 sizes to get them to work. If you're willing to try one more time, I definitely recommend trying the Ne(X)t Level 360 jeggings. It's their stretchiest jeans and I actually size down in them. The bike shorts were really cute on you!
I agree with you. I don’t wear cropped shirts, I like all baggy if that is the intention of the clothes. I have lower belly so I don’t like to accentuate that area.
You are the first TH-camr that has a close body shape to me! I’m also 5’8 and a size 18-20 and I am so grateful that I found you!! Most of the time women are shorter and I can never know how short pants would be on me 🤦🏼♀️

I just can't handle the price of their stuff. I've found all kinds things at American Eagle that I said "Ooooh pretty!" to but then saw the price tag and said it's not $49.95 pretty lol. I am a chronic thrift shopper (which has ruined me for retail prices seriously) but everything American Eagle that I have ever worn came from there. $10 is my upper limit per item and even then it has to be something super special to go that high. It also kinda kills me that the trending colours are burnt orange and mustard yellow. That might work for some but I like vibrant spring/summer colours so those just don't do it for me. Thankfully, co-ordinating burgundy/maroon works on me. As a thrift store shopper, my pieces are unique to me - far from cookie cutter - and I follow whatever suits my mood that day. If that's trending - then it was a happy accident! LOL You might have more luck at the thrift store because second-hand American Eagle jeans have been worn-in and don't fit like a brand new or fresh from the dryer pair would. Also, if you're not afraid to try brands you've never heard of (or that no longer exist), vintage clothing sizes are quite different than the sizing today. For example, someone who fit into a 10 back in the day might be like a 14 now. Give it a shot! Heather xo
I literally almost ordered from AE for the first time yesterday and decided against it. I am so glad now that I did! We are pretty similar size wise (except I am short!) so I am sure nothing would have fit me either. I am looking for some bike shorts to wear under skirts and dresses. Not sure that those are what I am looking for though. Thanks for the video!!

Just an FYI, that is not a cable knit sweater, it’s a ribbed sweater. I’ve been thinking of doing a TH-cam video of different fabrics and knits so that everyone would know correct terms to describe the clothes they are trying. I’m a knitter, a sewist and worked in plus size clothing retail for 10+ years. It would be a lot of work to put together but maybe it would be helpful? I always enjoy your videos 💕🌸💕
Thanks for sharing. Honestly those are juniors stores and we’re probably similar ages so sadly we’re too old for those stores. And juniors style stores do run small.
L I Momma i started buying from AE about 2 years ago, and now my 50 year old mom is hooked on their clothes too lol. you just have to make sure you look at the product details of everything to make sure it'll fit. it took some trial and error to find things, but now my mom and i pretty much only wear things from this brand!
I typically wear a size 10 at American Eagle but when it comes to the mom Jean or sometimes the boyfriend/girlfriend Jean I have to go up to a 12. Because if they don’t have stretch are usually have to go to a size 12.

I liked the bike shorts and that plaid shirt if it had fit you. I just can’t with those first jeans, I’m too old fashioned to pay for jean legs that are half made of holes.
I am very similar in body to you and I find that AE jean sizing is very inconsistent. I always get a size 20 in torrid and almost every other brand and the Mom Jeans were so true to size in the legs but it’s like the waist cut in sooooooo badly and I was so far from buttoning them it was insane! But other Jeggings and Jeans from them fit me great! 😂🤷♀️🤦♀️
I just bought 2 of those aerie sweatshirts in my normal size and they fit me just like they fit you. The girls on Instagram might have sized up to get the baggier fit.
Yeah this was a fail for the most part. Glad to know their stuff runs small. I did like the pink-rose top and the super soft button up at the end. You could wear the pink top with the button-up over it, but unbuttoned. Might be cute. The bike shorts were nice.

I am a plus size girl size 20. I love American Eagle jeans - especially the NXT jeans. They stretch a lot an hold their shape.. The AE does make an oversize shirts and states it on the label. And I wear a 22/24 plus size shirt and they fit me. Just some ideas for your next AE haul

Taren Denise You need to look for the jeans that say Next Level and 360° stretch!!! And now they have the Curvy Jeans that just came out recently that have more room through the hip and thigh area 😊 as for the tops look for spandex count, the type of material and if it’s oversized or not. Hope you give it another try

AE is slacking on the goods, I ordered jeans that I was so excited for! It was 5 days later I emailed why they hadn't shipped, guess what, They Weren't Available Anymore UGH. I feel your pain 🙄
AE are my favorite jeans/jeggings as a "plus sized" girl... I'm a size 16 and order a 18.. they fit great and are comfortable all day long

@@TarenDenise, you definitely need to size up one size from your regular size, and I'm not a fan of their distressed jeggings, but the regular jeggings are FANTASTIC! I have them in every wash. I also love their denim shorts, and have about 8 pairs (I buy every time there is a sale).
Also forgot, Arie has the best joggers/lounge pants! Super soft and cute. I get them in a XL and they fit perfect (I may have 3 pairs of those🤣)

I liked the shorts for hot yoga! I liked the burnt orange sweater! The other items...nahhhh...LOL Not a fan of jeans with that much distressing. My FAVORITE piece of clothing was the sweater you were wearing...HAHAHA....it looked awesome with your pretty eye color!

Ugh. I hate that. Just wanted to let you know that you can get those spandex bike shorts at Rainbow for like $8.. and they have a few colors. I wear them under my shorts if the inseam is too short for me. Just gives me a few extra inches. You might want to try them.
Stephanie Fields yes I like rainbow. I order a lot and only 2 items were too small. And I ordered a 3x and it didn’t even fit my daughter in law, and she’s like a large lol

OK so i think AE stuff is way overpriced, and I don't know if they offer sizes over a 20 but I wear a 16 or 18 in their jeans and I know my hips are around 41 inches. I think maybe you should've read the measurements a little better? Their jeggings are super comfy, but honestly you can find stuff so much cheaper and just as cute. Have you tried Belk's store brand jeans? I have heard their plus size stuff is very cute & well made. I also love Old Navy jean, and they are priced so much better!! They have really good sales too. I live down here on the gulf coast too, and I know I never get to wear most of my sweats or sweaters. Especially this year!! I think we are in for a rough summer!! Anyway, you are adorable and I love your videos! You are definitely helping me stay positive during this crazy time! Thank you for all the fun vids for us plus size ladies!!

I have another idea. You could buy s huge oversized men’s sweatshirt in a great color that’s soft & not too thick (Amazon?) & cut out the neck to your liking. Also you can cut, distress or remove the elastic at the wrists & hem if you choose

Oh!! They have some cute oversized plaid button ups at Walmart right now. In a variety of spring colors. Super soft fabric and nice quality -- for about $15.

I feel like AE used to be MUCH better. Like it's gone a bit downhill in the past few years. My favorite pair of jeans EVER are from AE and they don't even sell the style anymore! They are just straight leg blue jeans. So comfortable. I have them in a size smaller than I am right now and a size bigger than I am right now. I hope to never wear the bigger size but I'm glad I have them. I love those jeans. I'm disappointed they stopped selling them.
My size 14 AE jeans are WAYYYY tighter than my size 12 Torrid jeans. Their jeans run a size or so small.
Also, have you ever tried Democracy jeans? I got a pair in my Stitch Fix and LOVED them. Now I buy them on Amazon. You can get them with Prime Wardrobe so you can try on before buying (like Stitch Fix). They make my butt look SO good and they are so stretchy. They run true to size/maybe a little bit big.

1 comment to your video, the mom jeans are 100% denim with no ...ZERO... stretch if you're going to try for denim in plus size at ae then you definitely have to go with jeans that have stretch!! just like any store you have to try different Rises and different styles in different sizes to find the one pair of jeans that will fit you perfectly. That's true for anywhere and everywhere that sell jeans

Aerie has a distressed boyfriend t made for leggings. It's super oversized. AE high rise jeggings (18) fit like ON (16). AE has a curvy line of jeans now. Those might be more like Torrid. Idk. Torrid doesn't fit me (baggy).

I don’t think you’re aware of the different stretches in their jeans. Not all their jeans sizes are the same because of the stretch. The jeggings have the most stretch.
I need to give it another try with some jeggings that people say will stretch enough to fit.
just out of curiosity, why do you keep picking out sweaters? just to show viewers what's available? because you keep mentioning that it doesn't really get cold enough in your area for sweaters.
The struggle! I get them because some days it's 40 degrees, and others (like today) it's 80 degrees. I get them to give y'all an idea of fit... but secretly I want to keep them but it's just to hot here

In my opinion, that is too much distressing for an adult. The bike shorts are good, I wear a slightly shorter pair for swimming at the lake.

I'm sorry but bike shorts were the only thing that looked good on you at this time. The sweater may fit but it looks really sloopy, not at all flattering. There are so many other options available I wouldn't waste money on things that are just so-so. But you are lovely as always, I really enjoy your videos. You come off friendly and up beat without being over the top. Look forward to seeing more from you.
Love your videos but on your next time you order a box please try size up on everything before you place the order. Don’t go by what the model looks like just go up a size. You are a plus size and look beautiful don’t try to hide it. Love you size don’t try to hide it..
Joanne H unfortunately a lot of places don’t go larger in size so that’s impossible to do.
I'm def not trying to hide it. I ordered the largest sizes available in this video to see if they would fit. I always go by the size chart measurements when ordering, not so much what the model looks like.
