I know the art on the box is heavily altered from its inspiration cover, but it struck me as funny just how much they changed Mockingbird's appearance, just to match the figure in the set.
A solid set, that I'll hope to catch on clearance. Something I wonder about Silver Centurion is how it would look with taking a light-blue wash over the white bits. I know he looked white in the comics, but he also always had a light blue shading to give it a shiny, metal look and I think that's lost here. He doesn't look quite right to me with just white, marble plastic.
Immediate thumbs up for the opening Mockingbird segment! Great review! Love the upgrades to Tigra and Spider-Woman. Really hoping for the long pants version of Mockingbird with a smaller mask. That's the look that I grew up with.
Hasbro should’ve just used the lady deathstrike arms for mocking bird, they hang lower and puff out more. Could be a quick kitbash and repaint for a play day 🤔
I like my underdogs, and to me the West Coast Avengers always felt like the underdog losers. Which is probably why I like them more unless it's some grandiose Avengers story being told. This set seems like a mixed bag. Tigra seems like a straight-up improvement with the more subdued orange. I prefer the head on the old Spider-Woman (the eyes on the new one look weird, and the hair a bit lifeless), but everything else on the new one. It took us way too long to get double-jointed elbows, and I'm still annoyed whenever they go with the old ones. Looking at you, Mockingbird! The sleeves don't look great, so they could at least be more functional. And you're completely right to focus on that Silver Centurion head articulation. You'd think a company that has given us 3000 Iron Man figures wouldn't mess that up. I've gotten big back into Legends recently thanks to the new Bucky Cap and Black Widow, so I may wait or this set to go on sale, but I wouldn't be too sad to miss out on it. I can live with the old Spider-Woman and Tigra, and the others I can live without (or expect a better version of later in the case of Mockingbird).
WCA wasn't my bag. But I dig the one-and-done nature of this set. A smattering of reuse with some upgrades and tweaks. Not perfect but good for what you need it to be - a comprise, if you will. I hope the ML team does more like sets like this in the future. A Champions or Defenders box set like this could work. Or the Slingers.
Love West Coast Avengers, mainly because I’m on the West Coast lol. But I love Rhodey’s character arc in it. Will probably end up getting this eventually.
Amazing review as always. I also had that soft spot for WCA, down to earth heroes was something new to me, and all the drama and infighting was like "eh, that's the team that would draft me".
Nice set. I kind of wish we could get more bendy stuff when it comes to tails and such. Really nice what they did with that new Animated Doc Ock, and that Scorpion. I'd be tempted to try making my own, but I haven't found any good info on the best way to go about doing that.

My brother collects Spider-Man comics and any variants of the McFarlane Spidey #300 cover, no matter the character. Then he does Masters of the Universe figures. Origins, the mini build ones that I just forgot the name of, and then some Masterverse here and there. We come by it natural though, my mom collects porcelain figures and goes through cycles for kitchen decoration. Trucks, roosters, apples.
re: Mockingbird's sleeves I know a lot of people hate soft goods on action figures, but I think that's the way to go here. Have the forearms detachable at the elbow with some conical sleeves that slot over a peg. It would hang a lot better than plastic in various poses, especially if a wire was sewn into it. Matching the plastic color could be difficult though.
Hank just got stuck shrinking down from Giant Man. He's a little embarrassed about it, and would thank you not to bring it up again. 😏 Also, did you call Wonder Man "Power Man"? For shame, Robo! For shame!
It’s a good set. Much better if it costs $20-30 cheaper. Spider Woman’s eyes look off. I had a blast posing Monica Rambeau. I think they could have given Bobbi bigger sleeves. The sleeves built into a bicep swivel and elbow swivel could work. I’m happy with this Bobbi.
In the UK at the time of writing, this pack is £65. Bought it for tigra, mocking bird and spiderwoman. My phone kept changing it sliderwoman, whose super power is tiny burgers.
I liked you showing all the West Coast Figures so far. The only difference I might do is change out the classic Vision for the White Vision simply because his first appearance was in WCA at the end of VisionQuest. And I associate that version of the Vision with the WCA.
1:52 Hank's render has the upper boot parts on the other legs and look more natural. You can see the sculpted dimples change locations between the render and the figure.
I'd like this set. I really want Mockingbird, maybe Tigra too. This might be a wait for a $50-ish sale. Didn't that Spider-Man set drop that low recently?
The Razorback set? I saw on one of the Fb pages someone reported it went cheap, but by the time anyone else really saw the post, it jumped back up like $10-15 again. Still a lower price, but not many wanted to spend that much.
FANTASTIC set if you didn't buy the original versions of these figures, but still a nice set of small (but noticeable) upgrades and 2 much-needed figures for the collection. I'm not sure I'm ready to pick this up at full price, but I also don't think it's necessarily overpriced the way I felt about the Spider-Man D-listers set

The bad-milliput-sculpt hair and the eyes specifically. I do like Pym other than the QC issues and as you pointed out, too large/tall. Which is unfortunate. I agree this Tigra's color is an improvement. I wish the previous Tigra was this color as I prefer her head sculpt. Personal preference. This one is fine. Silver Centurion Iron-man is not silver. Not a fan. A much more classic Bobbi! Finally!

I have the silver.. silver centurian and and garfield orange tigra.. but the Tigra upgrade is the only reason i'm waiting for this set to go down to 90$ before buying.. like alpha flight and the ppl who have met wolverine pack did.
They are probably in the West Coast beach house; thus, the wind in the hair…. 😂😂😂. Mockingbird looks good until you pointed out the sleeves. But I prefer her old costume than the new one. That Hawkeye looks good.

I'm no authority on recognizing reuse, but after that close comparison of the Spider-Woman figures it looks to me like the same base body for the original Julia was reused for the Mockingbird.
Maybe a repaint for the white parta make the figure looks more like a good silver senturion, and if I remember theres the lady deathstrike parts that looks like the original arms desing of moking bird
Is the white on Iron Man accurate? Even comparing it to the old comics it's obvious the white in the armor wasn't meant to be white. All the metallic reflections drawn in the armor tell me it's supposed to be silver

That new Spiderwoman makes the old one look like a fan custom. I dont know if legends does vehicles but a miniature of some avengers vehicles or weapons would have been cool. Similar to toon accuracy with Transformers, the argument always becomes, should it be the color it was or the color they were trying to portray. The color was white in the comics but it was trying to portray metal. Glad two version exist for those who want a preference. is that mockingbird pose for karate chop action or is it mimicking the Official handbook of the marvel universe drawing where their hands were in in like one neutral pose (unless they were wearing a cape)?
I don't think I've ever seen Fixer before but based on the image you used in the video I think you might be better off using a green Power Ranger for the base body. Those bodies have just enough wrinkles and "baggy-ness" to the costume based on that image plus the shape of the boots and gloves already match where the Pym body is way to baggy compared to the image and doesn't have the gloves or smooth boots and you've have to cover over all of the chest detail. For the head, what about one from Multiple Man?... EDIT: What about the Hydra goon for a base?... I knew there was a figure I'd seen that was close to that but was drawing a huge blank...

It does a bit, then the hair helps accentuate the error.
