@@thegreatacolyt1277nah that’s a stretch. You can say you like it more which is fine but it was not better than the raimi movies, and I saw TASM 1 in theatres when it came out.
The most underrated Spider-Man movie (personally my favorite), I loved the atmosphere, the cinematography and the costume design, so sad that it had many deleted scenes.
I don’t care if the movie ended up being 4 hours long. They should’ve kept all of these scenes. So sad that Marc didn’t get to fully take the reigns and was left making a film that in all honesty was only partly his. The fact that I love and adore what we got so much shows just how much better it would’ve been if it was just given to him and the writer.
Apparently, Uncle Ben's original death was scrapped, not by Sony as many want to believe, but from Marc Webb himself. In the behind the scenes, he wasn't happy with the way it turned out, felt it was rushed and not shot as good as he wanted it. So when it came time to reshoot additional scenes, he jumped in the opportunity to change the death and have Uncle Ben die as a hero. Now from my understanding, as to why we didn't get the movie trailers were advertising was because the movie's final trailer was poorly received from fans online, and Sony freaked out and changed the whole "finding the truth about his parents" subplot by moving it for the sequel. Which if that's true, shame on both sides. Sony should've let Marc Webb tell the story he and the original writer were planning and visioned. But also, don't let fan backlash cause you to ruin a movie with potential. Before a movie comes out, people don't know what they want with their movies and will hate and complain no matter what. If you let that happen, then you're gonna end up shooting yourself in the foot and taking a risk with a reboot. The result was the overly stuffed sequel as a result.
Exactly how I feel about uncle ben's deleted death, it felt so dark but had such an impact and it even hurt to see uncle ben mistaken the criminal for peter. And I agree too sony pushing plots in shouldn't have been the case, the sequel had so much going on in it, when it could've been more simple too, but yeah its always good to get ideas from the fans ubt don't let the backlash make you ruin an interesting movie/project in general
makes perfect sense what you just described, the cut Ben's death felt like it was camerashot by someone completely different, as the quality dip between the cut and final ones is drastically huge, almost like an Indie movie of sorts
Imo the alternate uncle ben death scene would hit harder to both Peter and us because we're rooting for him the entire movie and (especially during the scenes preceding it of him getting powers and being happy). For uncle ben to mistake the robber for Peter and getting killed for it would make peter feel terrible. Imagine the man who raised you died because of his love for you. I'm not belittling the og scene btw. The og scene has him trying to do the right thing and die for it. This scene has uncle ben die because of his love for Peter and the latter realising the last conversation they had with each other about responsibility. Edit: I made this comment before completing the uncle ben section and I'm glad that it was the intended effect with both scenes. Dying for what's right or of his love for Peter.
It's a shame we will never get to see the Webb cuts of the TASM films. Marc & Sony aren't interested. Had Sony not screwed up, maybe we would've seen the Webb cuts on this year's re-release of the TASM films on the big screen. That would've been amazing.
This is honestly my main issue with the TASM duology, I feel like these films would've been so much better than how they turned out had the filmmakers kept a majority of these scenes in the film.
It could be like Spider-Man insominiac game if done right. Andrew's version love to joke around like insominiac Tobey is more serious and less joke while Tom did talked, it's more like it's out of curiosity rather than quips. Andrew's version had so much potential but it was ruined.
The scene at 10:38 is so perfect It’s actually a dynamic scene of Connors telling Peter that humans are weak and that would he give up his powers for a standard life. It questions both character morality on whether being just humans is a weakness, however Peter decides to use that power for good and find good use for it, whereas Conor’s is simply delusional. Honestly hate sony for removing that
The deleted scenes are the heart of the movie. There are pivotal arcs of characters missing Doc Connors. I like how they did Aunt May tho. So much to say. I love Andrew's version of Peter and Spider-Man. He's the BEST.
I’ve been looking for the clip of him throwing the web ball for so long. I could have sworn there was a finished hq vfx version of it. Also I remember an extended version of the Peter / Gwen cell phone conversation towards the end of the movie with kids taking pics on their phone in the background. I believe there was some sort of humorous interaction he has with them. I remember seeing it in a more kid friendly cut of the trailer on Nickelodeon.
The reason why the original trilogy and TASM1 were memorable, was because of the producer LAURA ZISKIN It was because of her and her husband (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the movies had depth AVI ARAD on the other hand, just wanted to use the movies to sell toys Unfortunately, she died in 2011, during the production of this movie Without her, there was no one to stop Arad from destroying the franchise again Spiderman was nothing without her
Excellent video. I really wish these scenes were in the movie, I may add the clips to the movie to make it make more sense but I don't know where I would add the clips to. Thanks for sharing this amazing video Warping
This is just crazy to seeing uncle ben's death deleted death would've brought so much more impact and I feel like it had more of an dark tone that this movie has compared to tasm 2 but it also kept true to the comics even tho I still like the death they showed in the movie still. The deleted scenes for doctor conners too should've been put in the movie in someway, it would've brought more depth for what we were missing and have more of an impact on the viewer too, for us to understand why he is so determined and how far he's gone, especially his son. (Sorry for yapping but this is just true) Now I don't know how I feel about the deleted action scene but like you said it would show the more animal Coc Conners becomes for the school scene, BUT the scene at the end where peter and conners fight on the buildings and downtown would''ve been cool since it had some cool cgi and it probably was the original scene for the bridge, but I think the bridge scene is still better of course but that deleted scene was cool to me
I just don't like the wrestling for the gun scene because it basically takes it from a tragic moment and turns it into a dramatic action scene. Which is absolutely not what I think should precede what is meant to be the most heart wrenching scene in Spider-Man's backstory. I don't necessarily love the execution of the original scene either, I do think a reshoot of that scene could have been good but completely changing it instead of trying to execute the idea better just made it even sloppier regardless of if it's in character or not, very ill fitting for that moment.
Were there any deleted scenes that involved Missy Kallenbach played by Hannah Marks? There were 2 scenes that focused on that character but she was completely forgotten after that.
This movie felt so 2012. I miss those days.

Some spider man title:
"Spider man drinking a green water thing, that turn him into a frikin goblin or a reptil"
