In the last example alongside the Line 6 M5, I see that one can change programs upwards, but is it possible to go downwards within the program list? If so: how? Thank you in advance!
Each preset on the SMARTClock can select any preset you like on your device. You just tell the SMARTClock which one you'd like to load next. You can't easily move backwards on the 'Clock, but you can arrange your patches in descending order if you like.
Hi ! Just bought a SmartClock Gen 3, and using the MIDI OUT output to control a Boss DB90 metronome, but i'm stuck in the "tap mode" (blue LED flashing), whereas I'd like to be in "preset mode" (GREEN LED flashing instead) instead... How can i switch from "tap mode" to "preset mode" ?
Well... This is kind of annoying... Preset mode is very useful for me since it allows me to change presets INSTANTLY, and also to stop/restart the click. In tap mode, when you're in the middle of a song and want to switch to the next preset, having to hold it is a pain, and a recipe for not triggering the next preset at the right time. Not to mention not to be able to stop or relaunch the metronome at any time. So, if i get this right : - the video above displays the Smartclock (old version) in action, which is capable of both preset mode and tap mode - the SMARTclock Gen3, which is a more recent model, can only do tap mode If so, this is very disappointing; and doesn't make much sense (a new version offers less capability than the oldest one) ... Could you fix that in a future firmware update ? Also, can the Micro Clock pedal do both preset and tap mode ? And trigger a BOSS DB90 metronome pedal, using MIDI from the Micro Clock Multi Out, going into the BOSS DB90 MIDI in (with the jack-MIDI cable you're selling). If so, I'd consider switching from the Smartclock Gen3 to the Micro Clock, to get what i want. I thought i had found the perfect solution for triggering my metronome when i bought the Smartclock Gen 3 based on this video and the two Smartclock into Boss DB90 videos found on youtube, but now i feel like i just bought an expensive pedal that does only half of what was advertised... Please help me find the right solution. Do you still have older Smartclock models by the way, that can do both preset and tap mode ? I'd more interested in those, in case you can't update the Smartclock Gen 3 firmware to have it do both preset and tap mode.
I completely understand your frustration. We have a firmware update in the works for the SMARTClock Gen3 and I'll see whether we can add in the previous preset mode options. Thanks!
Alright ! Thanks for your feedback ! Any idea regarding how soon this update would come and how likely it is to happen ? I've spotted an original SmartClock (not the Gen 3) on the internet and depending on this update (the timing and the probability) you're telling me about, i might keep my Gen 3 or sell it and get an old smartclock instead.
In the micro clock pedal is possible to save presets with parameters in the Tonal Recall of the CBA? Or is it only possible to save time? For example : Preset 1 - 50% feedback , 20%mix. Preset 2- 100%feedback , 40% mix....
You can usually daisy chain 1/4” outputs - I use a dual headphone jack. The jack goes in and the remaining hp jack input I connect to the next device - using a 1/4” cable from that inserted hp jack’s remaining female connection to the next device. If you use another hp jack at that “next device” you can continue on an on similarly with new devices - in series... .
Could you all delve into how to get midi input? On a gen3?? Everything else was covered but the manual doesn’t really delve into that. Whether i should see LED changes on the pedal or what.. it’s not slaving to my computer and I don’t know why.
Would this work with an Emu- drumulator ? . I’m trying to sync my Roland system 8 to my drumulator. Sorta new to this clock stuff. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Not totally sure - if your Emu has a MIDI upgrade then maybe? The SMARTClock can kind of output clock pulses but it's not really made for that. It might work but honestly I couldn't say.
I have disaster area smartclock gen 3 and want to send tap tempo to my dmc6 gen 3 midi controller but I can't seem to get it to work. I'm using 1/4" TS cable from smartclock gen3 to dmc6 gen3 midi controller. Any help or tips would be much appreciated. Also I don't know if it matters but my dmc6 is controlling h9, timeline and bigsky via midi out from dmc6 to h9 then timeline then to big sky. Thanks again for any help.
There are a bunch of different ways to connect things, but I'd recommend running MIDI from your DMC-6 to the SMARTClock, then MIDI from the SMARTClock to your MIDI devices. That will send MIDI clock rather than tap tempo and it'll stay synced much better. If you need further help just email!
Hello Disaster Area Design Staff, how do you configure the SMARTClock to work as an normally-open tap tempo switch? I noticed iot works in this video as a Normally-closed tap tempo switch. I'm having this problem with my DPC-5 Gen3 and since 2017 I still haven't figured a way to set my Global Tap Tempo by tapping on a normally-open tap tempo switch on the DPC-5 Gen3 Any help or guide will be greatly appreciated! :D
It's configured to work as a normally-open switch out of the box, you just need to plug it in and tap on it. The DPC-5 Gen3 is a bit different, you can use the MultiJack as a tap out. DIP switches to off-off-off and then configure JACK = T NO. The relevant info is on page 21 of the manual.
Yes, data from the MIDI input is merged with the messages that the controller generates, and that combined data is sent to the output. And feel free to ask our support folks any product related questions on support at disasterareadesigns dot com
is it possible to send at the same time a midi clock from midi output to the midi input of a timeline and an audio clock output into a tap tempo of an el capistan ? thank you
does the subdivisions can be sent also form the MIDI DIN OUTPUT ? Because this is not very comprehansive ... It seems that only the TAP tempo ( not DIN ) can send subdivisions , is it right ? thanks !
+Matthew Farrow Ok I understand. And about the outputs A and B , what does they send exactly , technically speaking ? is it analog pulses ? if yes , what is the value and do you think it could be used to sync the SMARTCLOCK with the MULTICLOCK device from ERM which has an analog input ?
How do you configure what midi program change is sent when you turn program change on within the smartclock? Does it just correspond to the preset you've selected? Like preset 5 sends PC#5? Or can I specify which program change is sent? Really hoping it's the latter. haha
Nevermind, just found the answer in the manual. Program change #'s correspond to preset change #'s. That's ok as long as the SmartClock has MIDI Thru since I can just send a PC on a separate MIDI channel from my MIDI controller. But I can't seem to find anything about MIDI Thru in the manual. Will the SmartClock pass PC's on a MIDI channel other than what the SmartClock is set to?
@@DisasterAreaDesigns thanks for your response. If you have a moment check this out: th-cam.com/video/mOqIMLYgKas/w-d-xo.html. It is a diy video of someone connecting a Korg metronome to the external foot pedal input. This is why I think it could work. Also it takes a stereo jack. Apparently Jamman stereo doesn’t have JamSync. It’s too old. Thanks again.
OMG!!!
I just ordered this, This is going to change everything!!!!!
Thank you so much, you read my mind \m/
That tempo knob ratchets through in 1/2 bpm (I believe!) increments so you can get straight to the right tempo EXACTLY!
Is it working for Synthesizer (Korg Minilogue on the step sequencer, or arpeggator) ?
Does the outputs A and B send " 96th notes " ?
thank you very much. I need this information to use smartclock with other gear.
I can't get my presets to save on Smartclock SMP serial 278. Driving me crazy and I know it's got to be something simple.
work with boss dd20?
Whats the difference of smart clock and micro clock can you do comparison video thanks
Can you send a midi signal from Ableton to the smart peddle?
Would it work with an expression pedal?
What type of MIDI cable did you guys use with the M5? I can see that you sell 3 types of cable, I am confused!
Any MIDI to TRS type A cable will work. We recommend our 5P-TRS PRO but as long as the wiring is correct it should be fine with anything.
where can i get my el capistan modded to work with this?
Could the Micro tap clock tap or the smart clock save also presets from chase bliss, Meris pedals? tap tempo will be also saved in the preset?
Can the midi output send CCs or program changes besides clock tempo?

Yes, and you can send MIDI to them from the MultiHJacks as well, just get an MJ-CBA or MJ-CBA PRO cable.

Hi. Can both boss dd20 and line 6 m5 delay sync simultaneously on bpm while playing lives? Or it can only do one thing at a time? Thanks
Yes, that will work fine. The M5 needs MIDI clock in order to set its tempo, so hook it up with the MIDI cable and you should be just fine!

Will this work with a boss gt 100?
It should work just fine.

Yes.

I have two questions. Does it work with a midiclock from ableton coming in? And does it work with the line 6 echo park?
Will this work with a jamman stereo. The external foot pedal has the ability to change the speed of a saved loop. If I connected to that input maybe?
Not sure if it'll work, but you might be able to use the JamSync instead since that's mostly MIDI-compatible.
