Love the content, expert advice in layman's terms. A lot of golf channels need a page out of your book, usually find pros can be very condescending but you're the exception! Keep it up, and thanks
James, thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been struggling with distance in my irons. Everything else has been great. I took your tip to the range, hit a dozen balls, then went and shot 1 under on 9 holes at my local club. 3 over was my best score prior to today. I have been right on the cusp of playing really well and this tip just got me there. I can’t thank you enough, Brother!!!!
I’ve learned this the hard way today, I’ve lost quite a few lob wedges this past year, so instead of getting another this year (will wait till next) I have been using my 55° sand. Usually about my 90 yard club.Tried to take some off of it for shorter shots and with the slower swings came better strikes and flying everything over my targets. So this tip actually works. Shot 99, first under 100 on this course, lost like 5-6 balls for overshooting greens.
I really like the overhead camera James, can you do a video on square club face at address showing this angle, I always think I've got it either closed or a little open, this view is excellent, especially with driver 👍👍👍
No one ever talks about how to setup at the correct distance from the ball. Too close and you slice, too far away and you hook. A video on finding the correct distance from the ball for any club would be great
Absolutely! I often feel like I'm too close to the ball. I have to consciously make sure I take a tiny step back every time I set up. Would be nice to see that lesson.
The only problem my game will have come spring is that I'll have forgotten and re-learned so many tips from all the golf channels youtube is feeding to my home page :D Great video James. I'm certainly going to review this, and maybe go hit some wiffle balls this afternoon (we have a nice day in October today with a high of 20!
I hope I can put this all into to practice next weekend, We’ve been in a Covid lockdown here in New South Wales Australia, I played my first round in 2 months yesterday and while I was expecting to be as rusty as an old bucket of bolts, I wasn’t expecting all my clubs to 10 meters shorter than I’m used to.
I've used that iron method on a simulator with a twist; put that tee peg or something in front of the ball and try to brush that away after hitting the ball. Basically the same thing as you're most likely looking at that object and not the ball. I have even tried looking in front of the ball few times on course when having problems like hitting fat or thin. Usually helps... if you remember to do it 🤣
It definitely helps. On the tee I usually try to put the marked dot on my ball on the front right of it to remind me to reach out a bit and also hit through it. All those other shots I have to imagine it's there 😂
Great video James. Very useful and will try it. Only very very serious comment is…all I kept thinking was why has James got his white belt so high, what’s he been eating…?
Hey guys quick question is getting the low point of the swing in the right place something you have to constantly practice or is it something that should just be natural if the swing is good... I am really inconsistent with this and very seldom get a good divot
I found that it’s a combination of the two, need to practice where the club hits the ball and turf, maybe move ball position slightly left and right and get accustomed that way But also obviously you need to have a replicable swing to get the best scores All good to hit a few bombs or great 7irons, but it all depends on how many of those are bombs and how many are fire right or left Whenever I play i usually try to create the same divot in the practice so that I know where I have to hit the ball and get rather consistent strikes It also depends on handicap and how good you are We all make some shoddy drives or approaches just the percentages have to be low Hopefully I somewhat answered your question
Can I just confirm that during your shot, you are looking at the marker (low point) and not at the ball? I’ve always struggled at where to look and to put my focus on.
Tee it up lower and stand a little a fraction further away. That is if you mean heel when you say left. Stand a fraction closer if you mean toe of the club.
@@mack042 still don't know if you mean the heel or the toe. Left can be either depending on how you look at. I'm guessing head on at the face. High toe?
thanks for response man high heel head on at face guess i should figure where i am hitting the ball before i ask for help hhahahahahahaha thanks so much for your help
Been working the low point for the last few weeks. And I’m absolutely bombing the driver. I do occasionally pull one left. But I’m having more fun when it’s a sub 400 par 4 and I’m hitting lob wedge into the greens.
Low point is the point after your club strikes the ball and enters the turf. When you make a divot you want to make sure your divot starts after the golf ball. Your low point should be past and after the golf ball with the divot. A good drill for this is to grab some spray make a straight line off the ground. Place a ball on the line, When you hit the ball make sure your divot starts after the line.
@@JHOLE21 IMHO not this time. With the driver the low point occurs prior to ball impact - I try yo have a 2-3 degree up angle on the ball at impact. With the irons you are correct.
You need to slow down your presentation. lol. I got it but I understand all of this already. Most people will not be able to keep up with you. I am impressed with ability to seamlessly cram all that info into 6 minutes without a glitch. I'm also going to assume you hit the coffee much harder than the ball.
The overhead angle is ideal. Most instruction doesn’t show the shots from POV, which is what’s needed. Thanks for the great content.

Great video! I bet it would work great with those Takomo 101 irons that I didn’t win
A great drill to stop fatting the ball👌
Really helpful video thanks for the help

Yea!! Works

Hey James are you gaming the TCBs now? Great irons, I game the apex pro 21s
Would like to see a highhandicap review of Cleveland Halo irons 🐺

Hi James
great video i seem to be hitting driver on the top left of club cant figure out what i am doing please help hhahahahaha thanks

thanks man appreciate i meant to say upper top left of club head
