After working with glocks for almost 30 years in law enforcement settings. Most limp wrist malfunctions occurred when the officer was moving backwards retreating holding the firearm one handed. And sometimes pushing the bad guy with the opposite arm.. but glocks limp writing is a thing. Thanks for the test. Good information to have. Take care my friend.
I hope you were wearing eye protection, it would suck for some wood to go flying in the wrong place. I usually do not, while doing construction tasks, but almost would have lost one recently. Was breaking up some rock/concrete. I do now, and hope you do. Not worth the chance. Love the channel.
Good video , I started pulling apart my tractor and I'm glad I did the throw out bearing is shot and one of the hold downs for the pressure plate was broken
Whether a gun chokes when limp wristed depends on how it's sprung as all modern designs lack enough slide mass to slow the action so they need spring pressure to control the slide speed. Sprung too tight trying to prevent slide battering the frame makes them need a firm grip so all the energy goes into the slide. Even if the gun won't limp wrist...sometimes they shoot better with a little more spring in them. It's all tuneable ....good video!
Thank you for explaining the limp wrist test. The test demonstrates the need to have a good grip before squeezing the trigger. In addition it also stresses the importance of doing strong vs weak handed training, as well as having a WML.
I ❤️ both my M&P 2.0 9mm and my 2.0 METAL 9mm to pieces! But I have to say, the polymer framed 9mm is the one id choose if I could only pick one for combat. The Polymer version albeit slight, feels like a softer shooter than my metal one. I can tell the difference when shooting double taps.
Im glad you're happy with the 2.0 metal. Looks like a great pistol. I've never owned a full-size M&P. Just a couple of the Shield Plus models. Enjoy your new toy 🦃
Nice to see a metal frame Smith. Reminds me a bit of the steel and aluminum frame pistols they used to make. Have a few 3rd Gen Smiths and they are as reliable as an anvil. Try mixing an empty case in the magazine and see if it will feed it. Have done that with a couple of my 3rd Generation Smiths and yes they would feed an empty case!
@@michaelmikeymichaels If you have 40sw. or 10mm. models; buy some up weight recoil springs. The gen 3 are prone ( in the "more potent"chamberings) to cracking around the slide catch/takedown lever hole. Aluminum and steel frames.
When I got my first SW M&P 40, I had one failure that may have been caused by limp writing (maybe) because I was used to shooting my Ruger Red Hawk 44 mag, which I would let rise after each shot. But then again, it was the first mag run in a brand-new M&P with no 'new gun clean and lube prep.' That was the first and last failure I've experienced with that particular weapon-it is my most reliable hand gun by far.
Very interesting test, Mr. T! I suspect that any problem with Glocks & limp wristing is a lot more involved than just a poor grip on the pistol. I have several Glocks, 9mm, 10mm and .45 ACP and none of them suffer from any limp wrist problems. I have tried using the same procedures as you. However... all of my Glocks have higher than normal recoil springs because I tend to load & shoot mostly higher velocity ammo, including any factory ammo I have (usually Underwood but a few others). I also tend to shoot lighter bullets that produce higher than usual slide velocity (thus the higher recoil spring poundage). For instance, 90 to 115 gr in 9mm, 100 to 165 gr in 10mm and 135 to 185 gr in .45 ACP. I have not been able to induce any stoppages by limp wristing. I suspect, but have no way to confirm, that limp wristing failures are as much related to bullet weight and velocity as it is to poor grip. I have not been able to think of a way to check this because even with lower powered practice ammo I cannot induce limp wrist failures. Perhaps it's all in the recoil spring? I'd have to try it with stock springs but haven't done so as yet. Maybe this summer when it's more conducive to outdoor activities? Too cold for my aged old body right now! Time may tell! Cheers, jc
This is one of the most important tests I've seen on TH-cam. Congratulations on your purchase. My experience with Glocks is that .40s are subject to limpwrist failures. The 9mm Glocks seem to be immune. I've done similar tests on my own and that's what I've found, at least. Those .40s are quite finicky.
I've heard the gen5 27 24 22 Glocks have a heavier slide, longer recoil guide, heavier spring and a different recoil block angle. It is suppose to replicate the S&W recoil impulse......???
Awesome to see you picked one up. Don’t know if it was my advice you took, but I definitely recommended it to you. Personally, I think it’s the best 357 Sig handgun you can buy today. Well after you swap the barrel, of course.
Oh you know that has already happened Brother! 🤫..... I sat on the fence for a bit but had to have it once I found a good deal local. More to come for sure👊🦃👍👍👍👍👍👍
Whenever I tell my Glock friends that I have a problem with failure to feed from Glocks, they all immediately say I limp wrist. Yes, I limp wrist, its true. However, I also limp wrist with all of my Sigs and they dont have failures. I should mention that I got rid of my Springfield XD's due to the same issues I had with Glock.
I limp wristed a Gold Cup Match in a Bermuda pistol match in '83. Hit the 4x4 overhead and it hit the target in the head. Still lost. Beewees and Marines were much better practiced. We got a box of ammo a week in advance. A few years later I was supposed to be getting trained for Small arms quals. I explained I was much more needed elsewhere on the ship. I didn't need to waste my valuable time in small arms training. The ship's master at arms said, then would you train the LtJG? Her Fitness report was due and firearms arms were her weakness. He had 2 dozen shipmates to qualify. I said sure. That was interesting and borderline courts martial esque'... It was apparent when I reached around her to grip the pistol with her, that the class took note... Friday was range day. I earned the Headhunter moniker, she passed her quals. Range master used his full library of expletives to regard my string of pearls on the target. Ended with Holy S, I'm calling you Headhunter. It fits. 5 mags and one mistake on the 1st reload. 3/16" error at 75M. Siamesed round 6 and 7 of mag 1 and 2.
Won't jam if the charge is so wimpy the projectile falls off the end of the muzzle. Won't jam if the charge is so strong the projectile makes it into low orbit.

Limp wrist testing is always important, especially with that new spring smell.
Always interesting, good stuff. It’s my issue, but that’s my hang up with grip safeties. But, in the real world, know one’s pistol.

It's one of the many reasons why I like the simplicity of revolvers. If you can put it into the chamber, it will fire and function no matter what.
You are 100% correct, you see cops limpwristing alot on bodycam, much from shooting with one hand while other hand is occupied on radio or light .

A stiffer recoil spring needs a firmer arm tension. It's hotter and you need to accept the recoil.

Good! My kids can limp wrist the heck out of glocks 26's. For some reason they do it easier than 19,23,17,22. Must be slide mass.
Something unsettling about a metal pistol that looks like a plastic pistol😱
