That reaction is the very reason I clicked on this video. I'm a 55 year old mostly white woman who fell head over heels in love with Kenny when I was 16. I found a version of this song with lyrics, then saw that Jamel had reacted to it. I knew "the moment" was coming, and Jamel, you did NOT let me down! What did let me down was hearing the things that people say to you behind the safety of a keyboard. Jamal aka Jamel and Rob Squad Reactions are my 2 favorite reactors to music of any kind. Keep Great Music Alive, and leave racism in the past, where it belongs.

It gives me the feeling that I am sharing A kind of personal experience that I love with someone new. And i very much enjoy it when you really like the song or the artist. I feel sorry for the people whose life is so miserable, the only way to not feel lonely is to try and make everybody around them as miserable as they are. It is sad and pathetic. Yes, but do the sequel after. A Canadian group did a song from the sister's point of view, but I don't think too many South of that border have heard it. It will not only warm your heart, but give the song the attention it deserved back in the day. The song is called 'Thanks for leaving, Lucille'. I know you will love it, if you can find it. Obscure as heck maybe, long as a Marty Robbins ballad, but well worth the wait. I never thought that if they had cut out a few verses and get to the meat of the thing, it might have been promoted like crazy and been a #1 hit!

In addition to singing Love Will Turn You Around for his 1982 movie Six Pack, Kenny also performed the theme song "They Don't Make Them Like They Used To" for the box office hit movie Tough Guys in 1986.
Tough Guys stared Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Eli Wallach, Charles Durning, Dana Carvey and Darlanne Fluegel.
"Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" was featured in 1998 Big Lebowski.
Kenny performed "Buy Me a Rose" on an episode of Touched By An Angel in 1998.
Kenny performed theme song to his 1990 "Christmas In America" tv movie.

I can remember my dad explaining the meaning of this song way back when this song first came out. I was probably 9 or 10 and I didn't know what "turning the other cheek" meant. Still, to this day, I live by this and I can see it clearly the day that my dad talked this meaning over with me. I don't let people walk all over me, but, I do know when to be the better man and turn the other cheek. I also know when it's time to be a man.

Great play on words in the line "Everyone considered him the Coward of the County". In most of the song the verb "considered" refers to how the people thought of Tommy (the prevailing thinking at the time), but the last line the context changes such that "considered" means that they used to think of Tommy that way but no longer do. Great storytelling and subtle context shift in that line.
