Bloody love Ross Noble. The most random comedy that always gets me belly laughing! I mean this in the best way, but suprised to hear he's a runner (and also a non-drinker if I'm honest). Another great example of someone getting out there and getting the bug like most of us did at some point!
Absolutely loved the commentary on pushing through the chimp brain. Andy’s framing of ‘seizing the opportunity’ has helped me so much too. Loved this episode as always, thanks Ross and TRC.
I've had gout, too! In my left pinky-toe! And it's just as Ross said: Agonizing, throbbing pain; even a bed sheet makes you wince. I was literally crying for my mommy... In more pleasant commentary: What a delightful show! I confess that as a naive Californian, I'd never heard of Ross Noble; now that I've listened to this, I'm becoming a fan. I love how he's as familiar with the podcast lore as the rest of us are. And for what it's worth, I endorse an hour-long pod, too! Thank you!
I bloody love Ross Nobel!! What a great episode!! And the snakes, roos, magpies, and miscellaneous other wildlife in Australia that might injure, kill, or maim you, just add to the general aesthetic of the run! Loved listening to this from the heat of Aus. ❤
Loooved this! Was watching while on the treadmill and laughing like a deranged person! Lucky the treadmill is at home. 😂 As an Aussie and a traily this was just too relatable! (Yes, I carry a snake kit in my run vest too). Thanks Ross, thanks Team. 😊
Not yet! Thank goodness! 🤞 But a mate was bitten on a trail run a few years back. We do see a lot of snakes out on the trails though. Heart starter every time! 🐍
Doctor here - The more modern view on gout is that it's caused by dehydration. The uric acid is concentrated too much so forms crystals in your blood that usually drop to your foot by gravity. This is why it's common with runners and any athlete really. Tend to see it more in early summer as people don't adjust their hydration quick enough. The pain is one of the most painful things we know of so if you have anything like that please go and see your GP as it's an easy fix
Listened to this in the gym today and loved it. Couldn’t stop laughing all the way through so got a few funny looks. Agree with Ross, needs to be longer.
Another vote to extend the length of the shows 👍🙌 Would love to invite Ross to come along to our local runners club when he is in town for his tour next year.
Please do an item on countries that don't do ParkRuns. I wanna know. I understand it's blocked by bureaucracy in France - medical forms for each runner beforehand, you can't just turn up and run. In America I am told folk don't organise ParkRuns because of the fear of litigation if someone slips on a wet leaf. True or false?
Hey, i also munted my foot in a freak downhill trailrunning accident! I had been doing loads of training desperately trying to get it in before my secondborn came along. Including trying to get a 2* bodyweight deadlift (I got to a 150kg double). Then the recovery took me to past the due date. Sad times xD The nearby woods has this 1 mile loop that is a great fitness test because half of it is steep uphill then back down is steep downhill so no matter how fit you are, if your pacing is wrong you are blown up by the top.
There is such a poor understanding of gout i the medical profession. In my experience a LOT of docs are still under the impression that gout is due to excess and won't entertain any other possibility. The fact that gout is linked with heart disease means it should be MUCH better understood. 2 years I suffered with it bouncing from judgemental doc to indifferent doc. Finally got the treatment and haven't looked back. Truly life changing.
Fantastic episode, for both science and useless banter! For scousey park runs, I’d recommend both Crosby and Croxteth Hall park run, both are fantastic
When I started parkruns it felt hard too, but with consistency you get stronger. I still feel like finishing a 5k is a challenge when going faster but is rewarding.
I think Stephen Scullion (2:09 marathoner, don't think hes ever mentioned it xD ) Would be a great guest one day, nobody does better videos on mindset, he also talks a lot about mental health and ADHD which I think could resonate with a lot of people.
so, re his gout, he almost certainly has a genetic abnormality that affects normal metabolism and excretion of a specific protein; de-hydration would be a trigger by increasing concentration (runner's in general DO NOT get gout) and precipitation in the joint space..bad news
I’m with Ross, an hour podcast!!! I find the podcast is never long enough.
Haha ok we'll see what we can do!
I’m training for a couple of 100+ milers next year, there is nothing to long. Back to back weekend runs require lots of listening. 😂
Ross is a gem. I to think the podcast should be an hour.
What a guest! Love Ross Noble, and glad to hear he’s another victim of the running bug
He was such a nice guy!

So glad you found it motivating!
I love running and I love Ross, my favourite comedian!
I've had gout, too! In my left pinky-toe! And it's just as Ross said: Agonizing, throbbing pain; even a bed sheet makes you wince. I was literally crying for my mommy...

It sounds really horrible! Sorry you had to go through it
@ Thank you! Chalk it up to a learning experience!
Brilliant. Kickstarted with Princess Snarky and off we go. Just booked tickets to see him.
We're going to see him too!
Awesome episode. Hey Rick. There is a half marathon in Mornington next year at the start of may. Come for a run and some Gavi.
I bloody love Ross Nobel!! What a great episode!! And the snakes, roos, magpies, and miscellaneous other wildlife in Australia that might injure, kill, or maim you, just add to the general aesthetic of the run! Loved listening to this from the heat of Aus. ❤
So glad you enjoyed it! Do you travel with a snake bite kit?
@runningchannel yes! Absolutely! Stuff it in your pocket and hope you never need it!
Brilliant. Would love to see Johnny Marr as a guest
Great episode!
Would love you guys to get Ronnie O'Sullivan on the pod for a chat!
We'll see what we can do!
Great entertaining episode 😅
Really glad you enjoyed it!!
Loooved this!

Haha have you ever had to use your kit?

Thank you for the great medical insight!!
Ross is such a peach. Love the guy, and I'm so happy to know he's so keen on running.
Listened to this in the gym today and loved it. Couldn’t stop laughing all the way through so got a few funny looks. Agree with Ross, needs to be longer.
Yes Ross an hour podcast you are so right!
Fantastic episode, Ross is hilarious and I appreciated a less emotionally charged episode. I like those too but this was great.
Really glad you enjoyed the more light hearted episode!
I'm with Ross, it's not long enough!!
Another vote to extend the length of the shows 👍🙌
Would love to invite Ross to come along to our local runners club when he is in town for his tour next year.
Yes to a hour podcast x
Great podcast and great guest.
What an excelent episode! Loved it!
who would you like to see on next?

@@runningchannel Bless you - if you look at a World Map, it seems ParkRun is primarily a Commonwealth thing

Running round tracks with comedians... I would watch it!
Great idea!!
Thanks for the Ally Pally story, just having my dinner!
10% rule for podcast length 😅
hahaha that's a great idea!!
UK Comedian?? He's an unofficial Aussie now...we've claimed him lol love the podcast!
We'll agree to share him
@ deal!

Really glad you enjoyed the episode! Also GREAT park run suggestions 😁
Gout Awareness Day is May 22, but we should petition it to be the month of May!!
Oh thanks for letting us know!
When I started parkruns it felt hard too, but with consistency you get stronger. I still feel like finishing a 5k is a challenge when going faster but is rewarding.
They are definitely rewarding!
1 hour defo! Need warm up time! He got got cut off too early!
ROSS NOBLE?!?!
Yep! He's so great!
We saw Ross at a trail run in Myponga, South Australia! I didn't believe my friends that it was him, but now I do 🤦♀️😂
Haha it probably was!
I think Stephen Scullion (2:09 marathoner, don't think hes ever mentioned it xD )

Turning up for the first time briefing, and it's Ross Noble giving it, must be so bizarre.
Having gout as a runner... Been there done that
Hope it's cleared up!
I just had to Google wombat poo
+1 for an hour Pod
Minimal 1 hour, way too short.
so, re his gout, he almost certainly has a genetic abnormality that affects normal metabolism and excretion of a specific protein; de-hydration would be a trigger by increasing concentration (runner's in general DO NOT get gout) and precipitation in the joint space..bad news
I thought he said he started running BECAUSE he got gout and wanted to get healthy?
@SevenEllen maybe, but point remains the same, guys that young don't get gout, you need some years of gluttony under your belt
