Thank you all so much for your support this last week. Its been overwhelming to say the least... in a good way! We're going to be reorganizing and working on the next part soon! We would really love your input moving forward using this survey: forms.gle/bhtX24NYD5jHqhUw7
@CoalTownShow I'm so excited for the next part. This was such a beautiful pilot. You guys did splendid work and I can't wait to see more. Yall are now in the world of Indie animation which seems to be becoming the new cartoon network these days.
If this animation doesn't get at least 100K views I'll be frickin pissed. The sketchy style doesn't take away the breathtaking atmosphere of every frame of the animation. It's THAT good!
im not concretely sure whats going on, but the characters have so much personality and the animation, especially the sequence near the end, is incredible. i hope this gets the attention it deserves, because ~6000 views for something like this is kinda shocking to me
I think they Kind of meant "one note", like Robbie has one very specific way of seeing the world, that super friendly kid has another, but right now you can tell a lot about how each character sees the world.
I love how every scene has twisted proportions based on the emotions of the characters. It gives the animation so much character, to a point where the animation can explain the character's thoughts without any sound or dialogue.
6:03 I love this little scene because I have never seen an animation attempt to replicate that feeling of pressing a computer screen extremely hard before; it looks absolutely gorgeous here
Wow!!! This turned out to be GORGEOUS!!! Love the vibe. BTW, I voiced Robbie in this. These guys worked so hard for this, please show them all the love and support for the amazing pilot they made. Such an honor to be a part of it.
Ngl, after seeing the whole video and seeing you heart every comment I genuinely support this project. You seem like a humble creator wanting to make a great project.
@@animation_craze we are all rookies working on this without much of a prior animation background. Our director trusted us thought out the process. Thanks to the fact that he gave us the space and means to go at this full force, this became our animation bootcamp kickstarting us in many ways. Not only that we all had a chance to give a bit to his ideas. Making the project feel like it belongs to everyone :) And honestly this is only the tip of the iceberg, these last 3 years have been so significant thanks to this project in many ways.
Gosh this is so beautiful, the camera angles, the scratchy, wobbly animation, the perspective, this is absolutely stunning. The atmosphere you create, the feeling of being trapped in a building you don’t wanna be in so much so that you escape into a different reality in your mind, I can’t get over how well done this is. It’s beautiful.
This animation combines the surreal quality of a lot of webcore indie projects with what feels like the line texture and watercolor of a children's book, I love it! :) I hope your project gets a lot of attention!
man, this was one of the best things I saw this morning, what a fluid and beautiful animation. I really wanted to continue this animation because I was genuinely curious about it, I didn't understand almost anything but I loved it, this is like over the garden wall technology
Beautiful animation. Amazing atmosphere. I love how animated the background characters are. My only gripe is nothing really happened. Aside from the visuals, there isn't any story to keep me watching.
This is a beautiful short film. My favorite character has to be the little albino kid, he reminds me so much of my albino friend in school. They are both super awkward and have trouble with anxietey. I hope to see more of Coal Town!
All I have to say is, damn!!! You guys made it. Whether the success happens long term or not, what matters is that, you guys made, this!!! That’s something many people can’t say.
I just love the style of the show, looks so unique and still kinda nostalgic? (The backgrounds really remind me of the illustrations in books I liked reading as a kid)) Anyway, I’m definitely looking forward to more episodes. I hope your show will blow up:)
Damn, this is so good. Scetchy nature of the animation makes every shot look alive, constant movement of people in thw background makes you feel that the world around kids is real, and the detail that you put into those back ground interactions is so rich! My view wont make you any money, unfortunately (views from Russia does not bring anything), but i do hope that algoritm will pick up this episode because i wrote a comment. Great job, loved every minute, would watch anything else from you.
This pilot is like the before, during, and after feeling of taking drugs and I'm all for it, good job, hope to see more! | (no pressure ofc, take all the time you need)
ok it is nice but you dont understand the plot without reading the description, it seemed more like they live in a simulation. But the animation slapped ngl it gave me vewn vibes in the end and you can see that a lot of passion was put in to the backrounds and animation. If this continues with a good story and nerative it is going to be so awesome
The use of effects and animation style to represent the different feelings and personalities of the characters is amazing, i love it! Really makes you immersed with the realism of everything thats happening, you can see the level of distress, confusion or chaos within the animation itself, choice of camera angles and music. There are so many hidden details that directly show how these people react to the world around them, I particularly like the scene at 6:49 where you can directly see the atmosphere quickly change to a mess of uncontrolled meaningless yet beautiful images and dreamlike music as though his mind has collapsed and is attempting to escape from a confusing, uninteresting reality. Im glad to see the rare chance that youtube recommends great animations like this, something with this level of quality should have millions of views, you did a fantastic job on this!
I’m surprised for this pilot! It has a lot of potential, and I love how things are presented(mostly, in terms of writing). I hope this becomes into a whole series. I would watch each episode!
Feels like nothing actually happened. Its more like a collection of music video shots rather than a story. No specific conflict, no relationships being built, no ongoing plotlines. It was very telling to see no writer in the credits
I just stumbled across this and am so glad I did! This looks like its going to be awesome. The story is really intriguing so far and I love how strongly each character is presented. Not to mention how cool it looks. I'm so excited to see where this goes!
Honestly, when i saw the low view count i didn't have my hops high, BUT man, 7-6 mins in and im surprised, it caught my interest, please don't stop even if the view count is low, your animation is amazing.
Everything about this, the animation, the voice acting, characters, etc. is just absolutely stunning!!! This pilot is so underrated... Also, I really liked the part where he entered a whole new dimension! 7:40
There's too many pilots to keep up with😭 I keep trying to watch them all. Also you did amazing work, good job! As someone who plans to make animations like this in the future, this is a huge inspiration to me
Woahhh this is really cool!!! The trippy animation towards the end was like eye candy and the characters seem interesting. I’m excited to see how this goes!
Out of all the pilots I've personally seen, this art style is best. It's so unique, oozing with personality, and it feels so honest. I'm so serious when I say I'd love more projects like this
I like the Sketchy animation style of this all, and I can appreciate everything that this pilot has to offer! Its very lively. One critism I do have is that, well, in each scene it feels like theres too much to be looking at, but this isnt bad on its own! Though, when theres so much happening in each individual scene, it kind of gets hard to focus on the main characters we SHOULD be focusing on, For example, 3:41 when Robbie first enters the school, the first frame we see leads our eyes towards the right side of the screen, but when we cut to the next shot… Robbie is on the other side of the screen, losing focus on Robbie completely. It seems like you are trying to show off both the main characters and the livelyhood of the background characters in each scene, all at the same time. Its okay to have lively backgrounds, but it strays the viewer away from the main characters and their own personalities as well as the emotions you want to convey with them. Though, in some cases the lively nature actually helps convey what the character is experiencing! For example, when clover is having the… mega Trip out… 8:08 It makes more sense that so many things are happening at the same time, the dude is quite literally tripping out! So here, it makes sense to have so many moving elements and energy. Theres alot more examples and blah blah blah but in conclusion, try not to include so much in one shot if it strays the viewer away from what you want them to be looking at! Use the energy to in its own individual shots where it makes sense to have to much going on, and also if you want to convey how horrible the school is, you could allsssoo just have shots dedicated to just that, instead of shoving them into every scene. Though, I liked this animation, and this was just my critique, Im not like an expert or anything so take this all with a grain of salt lol, Im just saying what i saw as the viewer
Ok, can we talk about the sound direction? Like, the animations already has a really imersive atmosphere, but the sound design is breath taking! The music, the chose of sound efects, the way of how it works on the headphone. I love it, and will really like to see more of it 🔥🗣️📣❤️🔥🫀
Yet another super cool underrated indie series for the year. For starters, I really dig the art direction - I haven't seen a lot of newer cartoons with this sorta watercolour sketchbook-esque art style both in and out of the animation industry, so seeing a new project take this sort of art direction was incredibly nice to see. It also complements the overall tone I see you're going with for the characters and storytelling very well, especially with all the neon surrealist visuals towards the end. All in all this is a really cool project, I hope it catches the attention of more people at some point soon.
This is so cool and intriguing. Btw, i have never ever felt so represented in my whole life? Cause Clover was literally me on Middle School. The energy that your artstyle brings to me is heavily nostalgic and i really appreciate how you can tell a story just by visuals sometimes i really love it! Looking forward to the next eps 💜💜💜

hahaaa, I did not notice that

AND HOW HE JUST SPUN SLIGHTLY ON THE FLOOR LIKE HE WAS A SOAP BAR OR SMTHIN LOL
BEST CHARACTER
Clover : probably on drugs
Robbie : big ego and a superiority complex
Jamie : depressed kid with anxiety
Oh shit the creator liked it

the monotonous vibe of how the kids perceive the world, the very gorgeous artstyle, and amazing voice actors, can't wait to see this explode. 🙏🏾
