The background characters dont have any specified genders so almost every couple thats not important to the plot could be straight as well. And it is realistic, gay couples are more common than you would think as long as the space they are in is safe and welcoming. Also isn't this short about queer couples? And is probably made by a queer person? Of course theres going to be more gay couples than you would usually see in media

@@NeoNik944 i know uve already gotten comments on it but i mean. its like 6 gay people. ashley could be interpreted as gay/bi but personally i see it as a 'mean girl' making fun of the lesbian sorta thing. its not crazy that the 4 gay people would be friends, often friend groups can end up being really gay because they all have similar experiences and thus understand eachother more. also, the focus of the film *is* gay relationships in a way, so it makes sense that gay people would be the central characters.

I genuinely like that this represents both the healthy and toxic sides of a gay relationship. Coming from a lesbian background myself, I've noticed a lot of people call toxic queer relationships "homophobic" or "hateful", when in reality it's no different from hetero relationships. This was executed so good and beautifully in a comedic and serious light in just 10 minutes that I am genuinely amazed.

I am a gay woman in a majority straight school so I have to suffer the fact that when I have a crush on a gal the more likely gonna there gonna be straight, But I do have hope that one day I will find a partner that I can love and can be happy being a gay woman. 4:12 AHAHAH i totally get it, as a fellow bisexual girlie. This may come as a short rant but it got me thinking... the boundary between platonic and romantic love is very blurry for me... It feels weird to violate that boundary when you can't differentiate what it is.
The only way I kinda got my gf now was because of luck that she liked me romantically too, I guess. And that she was extra lonely on the inside and I was there to help her and that I was the first person in her life who really cared about her interests.
It's still a struggle to accept fully that she loves me, even till today, haha. I can't fully see the impact my little acts of kindness have on her. I've just got to accept that there's a whole nother person in this world, and they love me.
The struggle of confessing to your best friend: you'll lose a friend AND a lover. Double whammy, huh.
The girl who probably says i love you platonically and it's your wrong to see it as romantic because it's just part of girlhood, all those messy stuff.
But at the end, i just appreciate that company and how they'll stay with you to the end. and I think that's what mattered in the end, to me.
Had many boy crushes in my life. But I didn't see the point of confessing to them, they were all too 'bro' guys who kept touching each other 'not in a gay way' in class to an annoying point. I only liked them coz they were hot. But I hung around them because I liked the conversation they provided to fuel my extroverted energy.
Thought I was ace for the longest time (i generally hated a lot of people in life, not elaborating tho) and that it was normal to admire girls in a pretty way, until I actually had my first real girl crush: her.
Thanks for making this little animation tho, I really enjoyed it. It got me thinking about my own relationship, crushes, and sexuality as a whole.

AAHHHHHHHHH STOP NOT CONFESSING!!!!!!!!!! you deserve love, and the person you like deserves to know you like them. Don't be too forceful about it, but you can let someone know that you are interested without it being too awkward. It took me 5 or 6 rejections before I finally got the yes that i was so desperate for. 6 years later, and believe deep down she and i are soulmates. The thing was if i didn't ask her out when i happened to accidentally bump into her, she was already planning to ask out another dude to the dance the following monday (it was a friday) and just by sheer dumb luck i asked her out first, and that was the luckiest moment of my life. look what im trying to say is complacent longing is agony, and the fear of rejection almost always hurts a lot more than actually being rejected. I'm not saying ask them out tomorrow. But atleast start having conversations that could hint at you being interested. like asking them who their ideal partner is, what they think a perfect date would be etc. And before you even say ' oh itll be too obvious' that is exactly what my girlfriend was talking to me about 4 years before i even asked her out, and I had no idea because I'm stupid and could never take a hint on anything. Again im making this about myself too much but its the only real experience i have to work with. I have spent years wishing people would want me enough to make the first move cause the idea of losing a friend terrified me too much. They can still be your friend after, and this may be hard to hear, but if they don't want to be your friend anymore because of that, maybe you deserve a better friend. One that gets you to the core, one that you don't have to hide anything from. Trust me it makes friendships much less complicated and emotional burdens much more bearable. CONFESS!!!!!!!!!! DO IT! as a straight dude, just wanna say I love seeing a greater variety of love stories that show the complicated nuances of searching for love from non-hetero perspectives. Theres something so refreshing from a story telling perspective as well as fundamentally relatable in the human experience of dealing with rejection. Nothing about this story felt like pandering or anything like that. The pacing was dare i say, perfectly done i found myself baited guessing what was gonna happen. And the dialogue was I don't know how to phrase this, but digestible in a way that felt accurate to the circumstances they were portraying. It was realistic but entertaining nonetheless. Happy pride and valentines to one and to all! (i know Im a bit late) I know animation and storytelling both take a lot of hard work, and everybody here did a fantastic job! Hope to see more in the future!

This was a masterpiece! The characters are great, there's a good theme, and there's girls loving girls! Usually most short films I come across have bad animation or bad voice acting, but this did great with both of those. My compliments to the chef!
This was so beautifully animated and wonderfully written! I absolutely love the storyline. As someone who has yet or never will feel romantic attraction to others, I love valentines animation films like these, There should be more. Keep up the good work!
So I, a straight man who hasn’t felt the embrace of a woman in my entire life, watched this and felt like it was pretty cool. An awesome animation that is pretty wholesome with a thrilling, feel-good conclusion. (I love gushy romance with good plot!) Even though I can’t relate to any character cuz it feels like 90% of them are at least bisexual, (my god every frame of this is ZESTY,) I still gave it 10/10, would watch again.
But then… I showed it to my Lesbian friend, whom like me had been maidenless for a good while. I left her to see it for herself without any spoilers. When I got back, she was angry at me for not warning her about this “emotional bombshell” and she had fucking TEARS IN HER EYES. While I can relate to the feelings of being stood up or rejected, of being just that one second too late, as well the feelings of love, and valentine’s day, and bla bla bla, I can’t relate to THAT SPECIFIC FEELING as a straight man. So I must say, you struck the CORRECT CHORD when writing this thing! I already thought this was a SUPER high quality production from an underrated animator, but my friend REALLY loved it, like on an EMOTIONAL level! With that in mind, 14/10, would be alone on Valentine’s day again!

I'm blown away with how lovely this is. The animation, writing, voice acting, and music all have such a pleasant warmth. The humor lands very well while the sadder moments hit really close to home. I audibly gasped at the part with the phone call. Its so rare to see the way women experience homophobia from other women even acknowledged, let alone represented, and you nailed all the emotional weight in an instant with only a few words. Bravo. Exceptional work, i know I'll think about this wonderful short for years.

I'm aro and I understand what's going on. I might not be able to experience romantic attraction towards anyone but that doesn't mean I don't know what love is and can't see that 2 people love each other.

@@aotc2669 I just don't understand how you can't tell what's going on. Maybe I misunderstood your comment. But In film or in written story pieces, the writer or actor will portray obvious physical signs/symptoms that you can piece together that the character is romantically attracted to someone without having to understand the feeling itself.
How to tell:
The characters are really close friends with this person or a character acts like they want to be really close friends with the other individual. They tend to smile a bit too much at the person, they kiss, hold hands and blush, fast heart rate, they act all flustered around the person they like, they look at each other longingly (so much so it might weird you out a little bit), there is intiment tension between the two. That's how you can tell. Now there's the off chance they could just be friends with benefits but usually that's not the case in fiction. In real life it's more difficult to tell when someone likes someone romantically but in film and books they exaggerate it to make it so obvious to the audience.
Although I am aroace and can't understand why people would feel these sorts of ways towards each other, I can see that they are experiencing a feeling evoking these symptoms. I may not understand the feeling personally but I know it's there for other people. Idk if you get what I'm saying.

This was pretty good, not gonna lie, love the ending, 2 of the 5 things I find funny in a cartoon are romantic comedy shipping and girls with big hair, and this short has 2 of them. Plus, there something about these WLW moments that really give a cartoon that extra "oomph" you know? like a secret ingredient to a cheeseburger, giving it that extra zing, to it in another way I love this short you, really nice!

Just from this animation alone, I can tell how great of an animator/artist you are. The expressiveness. The round & sharp edges collide perfectly. These backgrounds are beautiful, especially at that scene where Simon and melody talk about the rejection. Your colors collide perfectly! The lighting! and the stylism, oh my the style!! Ah!!! I love it so much!!!
