4:12 AHAHAH i totally get it, as a fellow bisexual girlie. This may come as a short rant but it got me thinking... the boundary between platonic and romantic love is very blurry for me... It feels weird to violate that boundary when you can't differentiate what it is. The only way I kinda got my gf now was because of luck that she liked me romantically too, I guess. And that she was extra lonely on the inside and I was there to help her and that I was the first person in her life who really cared about her interests. It's still a struggle to accept fully that she loves me, even till today, haha. I can't fully see the impact my little acts of kindness have on her. I've just got to accept that there's a whole nother person in this world, and they love me. The struggle of confessing to your best friend: you'll lose a friend AND a lover. Double whammy, huh. The girl who probably says i love you platonically and it's your wrong to see it as romantic because it's just part of girlhood, all those messy stuff. But at the end, i just appreciate that company and how they'll stay with you to the end. and I think that's what mattered in the end, to me.
Had many boy crushes in my life. But I didn't see the point of confessing to them, they were all too 'bro' guys who kept touching each other 'not in a gay way' in class to an annoying point. I only liked them coz they were hot. But I hung around them because I liked the conversation they provided to fuel my extroverted energy. Thought I was ace for the longest time (i generally hated a lot of people in life, not elaborating tho) and that it was normal to admire girls in a pretty way, until I actually had my first real girl crush: her.
I totally get the whole part with not knowing if its platonic or romantic im so confused rn and im just hoping itll work out one day i just know ill never confess to anyone no matter what lmao

The thing was if i didn't ask her out when i happened to accidentally bump into her, she was already planning to ask out another dude to the dance the following monday (it was a friday) and just by sheer dumb luck i asked her out first, and that was the luckiest moment of my life. look what im trying to say is complacent longing is agony, and the fear of rejection almost always hurts a lot more than actually being rejected. I'm not saying ask them out tomorrow. But atleast start having conversations that could hint at you being interested. like asking them who their ideal partner is, what they think a perfect date would be etc. And before you even say ' oh itll be too obvious' that is exactly what my girlfriend was talking to me about 4 years before i even asked her out, and I had no idea because I'm stupid and could never take a hint on anything. Again im making this about myself too much but its the only real experience i have to work with. I have spent years wishing people would want me enough to make the first move cause the idea of losing a friend terrified me too much. They can still be your friend after, and this may be hard to hear, but if they don't want to be your friend anymore because of that, maybe you deserve a better friend. This is so cheesy it’s adorable! As an avid hater of Valentine’s Day, I never get a valentine as my form of protest. As a lesbian who has yet to come out to one of her parents (for personal reasons I am scared to tell them) this touched my heart.
As a closeted aroace I absolutely dread valentines day ad I have to pretend to relate to my friends when I just can't really understand what they're feeling
I'm aro and I understand what's going on. I might not be able to experience romantic attraction towards anyone but that doesn't mean I don't know what love is and can't see that 2 people love each other.
@@aotc2669 I just don't understand how you can't tell what's going on. Maybe I misunderstood your comment. But In film or in written story pieces, the writer or actor will portray obvious physical signs/symptoms that you can piece together that the character is romantically attracted to someone without having to understand the feeling itself. How to tell: The characters are really close friends with this person or a character acts like they want to be really close friends with the other individual. They tend to smile a bit too much at the person, they kiss, hold hands and blush, fast heart rate, they act all flustered around the person they like, they look at each other longingly (so much so it might weird you out a little bit), there is intiment tension between the two. That's how you can tell. Now there's the off chance they could just be friends with benefits but usually that's not the case in fiction. In real life it's more difficult to tell when someone likes someone romantically but in film and books they exaggerate it to make it so obvious to the audience. Although I am aroace and can't understand why people would feel these sorts of ways towards each other, I can see that they are experiencing a feeling evoking these symptoms. I may not understand the feeling personally but I know it's there for other people. Idk if you get what I'm saying.
@@KatOnlineit's fine, but yeah i'm aware that they're most likely in a relationship now considering it's a valentines special thing and all, but like you said i just dont understand any of like the reasoning behind why they feel the emotions that they do. that probably didnt make any sense but basically the last paragraph of your last comment is pretty much how i feel/see it

This is extremely underrated I honestly love this film, the animation is so fluid😭❤️
yes it is 👍👍👍
Simon ATE UP that fit🔥❗❗❗
Ngl he reminds me of Wallace from Scott pilgrim
@@lightningjadejavier haha yesss
What an emotional rollercoaster and a great message. Animation is beautiful and you made me cry and scream of joy within ten minutes. A new record
The whole animation is so great but MAAAN THE PAPER FLOWING WAS SOOOO SMOOTH
"oh sweetheart" before every rejection is kind of hilariousc😭😭
As a person from Russia, I can openly declare after this animation:
I desperately need a gay friend to talk to about disturbing gay topics.
When Simon saw that drawing I was waiting for the moment when he would say "Oh, sweetheart”
It’s the way it doesn’t even feel like a WLW story, it’s flows so well 🤫‼️
I can’t see the shush emoji without thinking 🧏♀️
@@I_have_202kids_in_my_basement SAME
I just love that people make heart-warming things like this, it’s just so beautiful and sweet
Guys if we made fundamental paper education a fandom then we have to make this a fandom rn it's literally fandom material
YES!!! and FAN PFP SPOTTED
Omg
:)
Fr. Make this a fandom omg
I asked the guy I have a crush on to be my valentines, but I got rejected. I’m not as mad or sad about it bc I didn’t expect a “yes”. But we’re still friends and the fact that he might now be aware of my somewhat feeling for him scares the shit outta me so much.
I’m straight but I still appreciate and enjoy the story the music the art and animation. This is honestly amazing. I’m sure this changed a lot of people’s views.
Awww, that was cute! The style really reminded me of Piemations.
I loved the show not tell apects of the things in the beginning, and how expressive everyone was. Very cute stuff! 💜
YEAAA I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY THINKING IT WAS SIMILAR TO PIEMATIONS
THE BI FLAG IN THE SKY, THE HUG, AND THE BLUE AND RED TROPE OMG IM SCREAMING I LOVE THIS SM ❤️❤️
I'm super happy that Melody didn't get rejected because it was gross for her to be lesbian, not because Mariah didn't like girls, but because Mariah just... couldn't.
i WILL be sharing this will all my friends it needs to be seen by more people. 1.5k? really? cmon algorithm work harder
agreed
GAH THE ANIMATION, THE STORY, ITS SO FUCKING CUTE AS WELL! 😭
ONE OF MY FAV SHORT FILMS.
My name's Mariah, and I zoned out for a second, so hearing 1:25 gave me a mini heart attack there for a second 😭
OMG SAME HERE-
The end when she started singing slayed
I like how she heard a singular breath and immediately went "MORIAH?" gurl was hoping😭😭
Lmao yeah 😭
The perfect couple name, M&M
4:18 the ice cream will always stay by your side until it melts ❤
Really funny!
Hi i am from the T.R.T.I.C.N (THEORYS RANDOMS THAT I CREATE NOW) and what if this coment its about one person who was aways with u but sudenlly, that person just...disapear?
@@Valt_Gaby gasp! That reminds me of this one friend I had before and we kinda just drifted apart. I still have her number but she won’t reply to my messages anymore
OMG was that Mykie's Voice at 8:12 ?! If so that's another one of these little things that make this animation feels so rich and crafted with passion and love! ❤😄❤
Grr why did TH-cam just now recommend this ART nine months late?! I mean cmon this is absolutely amazing!
I thought Mariah was gonna use Melody as her second plate, and I was so nervous because that would've been so wrong, but she didn't. She needed her support and then saw where the true love was. I loved how organic the relationship feels even when it's development is shown on a few non-talking scenes ❤
This one made me cry, I wish I got to see this on valentines instead of 9 days later but, this story is really beautiful thank you for making this!
This honestly deserves way more views, I love animations like this
I would watch the hell out of a show with this style of writing and art. Props.
Simon literally got me
"Ahhh sweetheart..." he gives Glisten vibes
And then he took Adam, that's crazy then he says "Oh sweetheart" like nothing hapened. He's so iconic lol
W SIMON FOR CHEERING UP MELODY!!
OMG he does give glisten vibes
I need this 10 minutes animation to have a fandom immediately
Real.
Spectacular now give me 20 seasons, 10 Movies, And a comic book😻
Real
SO TRUEEEE
REALEST
This is insanely beautiful, it’s absolute art, a true masterpiece.
Why can’t TH-cam recommend more of these?
This is basically me but my best friend actually ended up dating me, and now we’re in a happy and healthy relationship :)
(As in without the rejection part)
SIMON IS AN ICON I LOVE HIM (girl I’m sorry that you got rejected like that 😭😭)
7:54 let’s just say I’m saving myself for Andrew Garfield
Same bro same
Forget about a fandom this needs to be a real show
this is EXTREMELY underrated!! The quality of this animation is amazing!!!! great job to everyone who worked on this adorable project!
This was a genuinely beautiful animated short film and the animated hand drawn looking pictures and animation in the outro had the perfect song for the end credits. Thank you for sharing and creating this wonderful work of art in storytelling. I love it so much and I must say simon has a way of growing on you and I wish nothing but the best in his live department.
Simon is the type of person we should ALL aspire to be, a true example of the peak of human ability.
Ok, so this animation has now given me a fear of the phrase “oh sweetheart”
I may have to send this to my current and any future partners to make sure they get why.
2:24 NAH i have a character in my book who’s named Simon and he’s gay😭💘
close enough, give me 5 seasons and 3 specials
I am really blown away at how amazing this short film is. Everything from the art style, animation, voice acting, music and story are all so excellent! I got so invested in the story and Melody's struggles. Thank you to all who made this for our viewing pleasure, you all did an excellent job and then some.
Simon slayed too hard.. I NEED MORE ON HIM 😭
Can we just appreciate how cute and silly this art style is 😭
of course
The ending is so sweet! ❤The artstyle is very pleasing on the eyes also :D
I like the snappy movements when melody is telling Mariah about her feelings, I don’t know what it reminds me of, but it’s cool
I know probably no one will see this, but I just wanna put this out there, this animation is so sweet and honestly made me emotional
I love the animation style so much I’m screaming
it's actually fun how short animated film on youtube can be better then all of disney movies last 2 years.
6:00 The moment she said "oh sweetheart" i screamed "SON OF A B*TCH" so loud that i bet my parents are questioning about my mental state rn
Relatable
This is so cheesy it’s adorable! As an avid hater of Valentine’s Day, I never get a valentine as my form of protest. As a lesbian who has yet to come out to one of her parents (for personal reasons I am scared to tell them) this touched my heart.
As a closeted aroace I absolutely dread valentines day ad I have to pretend to relate to my friends when I just can't really understand what they're feeling
Simon and ashley giving the same line as rejection yet being so, so different to each character is neat
bro i thought piemations new artstyle animated this video but nah this shit is too smooth
as an aromantic, i can confirm i have no idea what the hell is going on, but theres gay people in it so it's probably good
I'm aro and I understand what's going on. I might not be able to experience romantic attraction towards anyone but that doesn't mean I don't know what love is and can't see that 2 people love each other.
@@KatOnline i dont mean to say that all aromantics dont understand love and stuff if thats what you mean
How to tell:
The characters are really close friends with this person or a character acts like they want to be really close friends with the other individual.
@@aotc2669 Sorry for the long comment. I write to much.
