Lovely tutorial I personally use terradon turquoise, but this looks as good. Then again that's half the fun, two guys can do a similar scheme slightly different for way different results.
Incredible video. I think this is a very satisfying paint job, especially because how chill it is, nothing too complicated. You set up the metallic and then coat it with paint. Thank you for the tutorial!
Thanks Barry - depends on the mistake and if you can hide it with another cost of contrast (e.g. a shaddow area) Failing that I'd probably paint it leadbelcher, highlight with chrome and re apply the contrast
@@bortsofcanada I still have some. But honestly an oil wash is a better alternative anyway. Just get some black oil paint and a bottle of odourless mineral spirit. Do it over a gloss varnish and it’s much better
@@ThePaintingCoach if i may ask. Whats the trick with contrast paints? I tried paibting a dark angels intercessor for a test and it's so splotchy.. Then you watch a TH-camr get perfect coverage lol
Keep it moving so it doesn't pool and use two coats if you need - you may also need to thin it with contrast medium a little - will depend on the pot/colour - greens are notoriously bad covering paints - contrast or other haha - might I recommend my Dark Angels Tutorial? 🤣
@@ThePaintingCoach and for a similar scheme on sigmarines, would you make the cloak brown, or the rakarth flesh kind of color? Maybe a subtle reddish or purple?
@@ThePaintingCoach ooh on the cloth for my grey knights I do a wraith bone, flesh tearer, thin gold, makes a speckle with the filaments, then another coat of flesh tearer, makes a red gold fabric. Maybe that with iyanden and a metallic?
That would be a challenge - my first instinct would be airbrush If that's a no go then you could use lots of really thinned down layers with a very big brush, or do them something like black or silver, leaving only the inserts or doors the blue colour
Favorite chaos legion, nice to see a tutorial!
Cheers Kyle
One step closer to the Thousand Sons, this is amazing!
Haha cheers mate

Cheers! Yeah you could use different techniques across an army for a really unique look!

Thank you for the tutorial!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
This video deserves more views
Thanks Ethan - appreciate it
100%!!
Awesome! Love that most loyal legion!
Hope there will be Thousand Sons next.
Thanks! Maybe not next but soon!
Beautifully done! I finally have a scheme to commit my own models to :)
Glad you like it!
i needed this how to paint thanks!
Glad you found it useful!
Best on TH-cam. Question: how would you touch up the blue contrast if you make a mistake? Thanks again for all your content
Thanks Barry - depends on the mistake and if you can hide it with another cost of contrast (e.g. a shaddow area)
Failing that I'd probably paint it leadbelcher, highlight with chrome and re apply the contrast
Try using nuln oil gloss for a nicer effect - the contrast paint runs over it really nicely.
So sad that it’s been discontinued 😔

I love it. You took the warhammer tv tutorial and kicked it up
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Haha cheers 😆😉
Amazing as always
Cheers pal!
Favorite Loyalist Legion.

Watching this as a background noise while painting raven guard Phobos lieutenant
Nice! Appreciate the support!
Great tutorial, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Would love your take on a Dark Angel Intercessor, not any really good videos on that chapter and I adore the dark green scheme of them.

@@ThePaintingCoach oh my goodness I was looking for one of these on your channel but I guess I was blind thank you so much
No problem - I hope it's helpful!
Emperors Children next please, great vid
I'll see if I get round to them- i havr Black Legion planned next and then Mortarion
Nice alpharius model!
Thanks 😉
Nice work
Thanks!
What Chaos Space Marines pack is this from? The main one? Or a specialized Alpha Legion box? I'm new to collecting.
Hi Rod - this is from the start collecting Chaos Marines box - the one with the spider-like venom crawler
@@ThePaintingCoach Thanks Coach!
No problem!
I know this is an older video but I'm recreating the technique to get the metallic blue on my Sky Dwarves. How would I highlight the blue armor?
You can use a bright blue, or highligjt the metal underneath before contrast
Can you do magnus the red.
Maybe in the future if I get hold of him!
@The Painting Coach any insight on a tallesar or aethermatic blue over a chrome base coat for blue metal?
I guess I'm asking for tips against it pooling haha
Makes sure you don't have too much on your brush - test it on a spare part first
@@ThePaintingCoach and for a similar scheme on sigmarines, would you make the cloak brown, or the rakarth flesh kind of color? Maybe a subtle reddish or purple?
Go for something opposite like yellow or green - white will work and red is ok too

Cool. Is the palette used for blue paint? I get divorces.
How can this paint be applied to tanks? Can I use an airbrush?
Yes palette to control the amount on the brush - and yes airbrush for tanks
@@ThePaintingCoach thnx so much!!!
My fav legion :D
Best Guides thx
Thank you!
I used this same type of scheme for my Thousand sons.
Good idea - would work equally well!
Should I go alpha legion or iron warriors?
Toss a coin :p
@@ThePaintingCoach I never thought of that for hard decisions! Thank you!
