Genuinely loved the intro, thought it was funny. I found you through your post on reddit and this video was super duper helpful! Definitely earned a subscription :D
Sorry for the multiple posts, but a second question: I don't suppose you're considering a second video like this, using some of the newly-announced Contrast paints, when they come out? Thanks either way!
I, too, liked the Aethermatic one most, by a long way! You mentioned how thin that paint in particular was, I assume you hadn't had to dilute it with any medium? I usually avoid contrast paints on things like marines because I don't want that pooling-on-flat-bits effect. But painting it over metalics, like you have here, seems to avoid that - would you say that's fairly typical, or do you have a trick to get around it? Thanks for the video, definitely helped push me that little bit closer to getting some Chaos marines!
Glad you liked the video, and thanks for the comment! I didn't dilute the Aethermatic at all, no. Pooling is still a potential issue on any surface, so while the contrast is still wet I went back in with a clean and dry brush (a brush that's dry, rather than a drybrush lol) and used it to pull away any pooling i found. Just touch the brush gently to the wet paint and it'll flow onto the brush, you don't want to move it around on the mini again. The Aethermatic blue didnt need much of this compared to the other colours, mostly just on high detail areas like the face to make sure the details were still crisp. You can do as much or as little of this as you think you need. Hope that helps!
@@digitalwastrel That's a tremendous help, thanks! I see all sorts of "the downside of contrast paints is..." sorta comments about exactly that drawback that I mentioned. I've come across that maybe 50 or more times now, from a huge range of painters, and I always suspected that what you've just said would work just fine, but because NOBODY was saying it, I doubted it. Thanks for clearing that up!
It's maybe not going to be the cleanest or smoothest end result compared to like airbrushing or blending or whatever, but it's quick and easy and you can do it with a regular paint brush so that's a pretty good tradeoff in my eyes!
Just what I was looking for! They all look great, but I’d have to go with Aethermatic Blue.
Thanks! Also, great choice!
Ooof! That Akhelian Green Legionnaire is spicey af. Good job!
Thanks! It's a good one alright
Very timely video, working on my AL now. Really dig the aethermatic one, am going to give that a shot!
Thanks! They're a really fun legion to paint, and so many choices for what colours you use to give them your own stamp

Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the intro; I was trying to film a regular one but those other guys kept getting in the shot
... and then they all fought over who is the "real" Alpharious!
The real Alpharious is the friends we made along the way
I know it’s just me but the end results ended up looking like two alpha legion and two “nightlords” models lol
That's just what they want you to think!

I definitely will, yeah! Going to try out some of the new purples too, as a follow up to my Emperor's Children vid
@@digitalwastrel Perfect! Looking forward to it!
Good to see the kid in the red shirt from that crazy frog video is doing well!
Man I wish I could dance like that guy
1 step. Base Adandon black
2 step. Some Iron hands metallic
3 step. Terradon Turquoise
That is what I used for.
Yeah, I like Iron Hands paint too!
Akhelian Green is the business.
Can't argue with that!

@@digitalwastrel Agreed, I like to stick to just paint brushes, even for basing.
Nice video! Ankelion Green was the best, I think.
Cute dog!
Thank you! More warhammer videos should have dogs in them imo
Fifth way throw the Alpha legion away and buy World Eaters
A bold strategy!
