The only advice I could give you on your painting is that the brown/dark shade you're applying at the end needs to be done more liberally. Apply it like you applied the melted sprues. Glob it, spread it, let it build up in certain areas of the model. Recesses, sunken parts, cracks, fissures. If you find the elevated areas are too dark, you can always go back and dry brush more green to certain areas, in fact, you should anyways.
I recently painted up a Scibor Cthulhu as a great unclean one. Must have used a quarter of a bottle of Agrax Earth Shade on it.
I used toilet paper as slime for it's base and drooping off it's hand. If you're brave enough to try it.
Here's a tip for veteran modellers for interesting slime. Might work for muck puddles or all sorts. Haven't tried it with anything but green.
1: Get a little minis clamshell package or suitable container, fill it with about a half inch with water.
2: Decide what you want your muck to look like, in my case it was green. Take your brush and dip it into the ink or contrast paint. Dab it into the water. It will quickly disperse. Keep doing that until it's well mixed. the more you use, the darker the colour will be. For slime, you want less.
3: Rip up strips of toilet paper and drop them in the water. Leave them until they are soggy. Take it out with whatever you normally use and drape it over and around the base. It can be easily moved and poked around. You will notice it creates a natural saggy, layered effect and the colours of the ink and the white of the paper flow very naturally as well. You don't want to be sparse with the slime piles, because when it dries, if you press on it, it can be brittle.
4: Use sealant on it right away. If you leave it to dry, it doesn't turn out as well, so drench it with a spray. Bottle varnish etc poured on won't really work.
5: You are pretty much done at this point. A little added effect is that when it's drying or dried, you can use drops of super glue onto the piles to create little pockets as the glue will actually burn and eat away at the paper, so be careful. It does let off a bit of smoke. When you use clear super glue on the fully dried slime piles, if placed in appropriate areas, adds a nice shiny effect.
The added bonus of this is that you can take the strips and hang them off areas of a model where you want slime to be dripping off. From a mouth works. Hands. Giant Nurgle wounds. You can easily poke and prod it where it needs to go and then carefully apply drips of super glue to keep it where it needs to be. It will soak up and flow down the strip, so keep that in mind.
It's fine if that happens. You'll need it to happen if you want sagging bits to firm up.
It doesn't look as good as the clear slime ponds that people can make, but this looks better when it comes to mounds of Nurgle filth dropping from the model.

Seal the clay in several coats of Modge Podge before gluing it on and painting it. It will prevent the clay from chipping or cracking. This is really important since gaming miniatures are handled and transported. The other solution is to use the clay as a skeleton, then go back over it with green stuff/milliput/whatever.

  • @Fluffysbeans

Have a few suggestions for painting:
    1. Air pressure VS distance VS thinning. You look like you using your airbrush on a bit too high of a pressure at a bit too close of a range, and/or your paint is likely thinned just a tad too much. Don't only do tests, but I'd do a few tests on smooth plastic surfaces (ye olde god Plastick Spoone) to get a feel for what's causing that overly transparent and pool-y look you're getting on the initial green coat.
    2. Brush. I'd try to get a good straight round-tip brush. What you were using was a little too wide and had a bit of a curve in the end, and when you're trying to improve, that's only going to make the process feel worse.
    3. Color choices and layering. It's not that there are any hard and fast rules, but I suggest avoiding colors that are too high in value and saturation early on. Base coats are typically better if they start darker, and working up toward higher saturation lets you make certain parts pop more once you hit those very bright spots.

What an amazing job, and clever use of left over material!!!
Something you might like to try experimenting with later with painting is adding different colours for the skin. Colours like blues, pinks, purples, yellows, and dark red along with the green. When you have the different patches of colours all over, air brush a very thin layer of a flesh colour. It'll gives you the gross decayed flesh look!

I think the best part of this is that the model should be tournament legal because its almost entirely GW Plastic

i really love your creativity. love the art. especially with the avarice of gw. Can i make a suggestion though? have you ever considered priming your model first? think about painting a house or something like that....I think it will surprise you with the difference it makes.

That was phenomenal! I could see some easy oozes and jellies for D&D as well. Wire frame and just pour, add bits, and paint.

For someone "new" to the hobby your painting abilities are far better than mine were when I first started 😂 don't be so hard on yourself as others have already said!
Just keep cracking at it and you'll be painting stunning miniatures before you know it

Have been wanting to start a nurgle infected tau army ever since they came across each other in the recent lore, and you good sir have just given me the means and motivation to get started! Fucken nice one mate!
Also if you want an easy impovement to the paint job, you should consider picking up a bottle of AK interactive Streaking grime.
The grimdark community swear by the stuff, as its just a case of spraying or brushing the stuff on, an then wiping off with a white spirit dampend rag

Side note, dissolved is a chemistry term and references when one material disappears into another.
Common example is salt dissolves in water.
Generally the thing doesn't stop existing it just becomes integrated.
If you shot someone with a weapon to "dissolve" them it should mean you basically mix them with air.
So probably a heat weapon so hot it leaves nothing but like carbon and hydrogen and such behind.
