    Omg, thank youuu!! I have a 1999 Camry V6. Trying to learn how to do all the maintenance myself because costs of taking it to a shop is too much for me right now. Plus, I like to learn how to take care of my own. This was very CLEAR & INFORMATIVE! Thank you!!! I have a lot of work ahead of me before it gets super cold

      Yup I saw that video! I've had one in the Corolla since before I bought it. Battery says 2014 on it. I now have one in the Camry and also put one in the Lexus. The one in the Corolla has never let me down and it's been 6 years so... totally worth it!

    I always change oil of my car (same engine as the video) without jacking up the car. I also changed transmission fluid for 6 times without jacking up the car as well. I don't have the big floor jack, so it will save me a lot of time. I personally use 10w40 semi-synthetic and it runs fine so far.

    • @AutoFixYT
      @AutoFixYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I've done that without jacking up the car as well. It does save time. And yes for those old engines 10w40 should work fine! The best thing to do though is to have an oil pressure gauge available so you can monitor the pressure if you're unsure. But 10w-40 should be fine if you're in a hot climate.

    One thing I always see debated is the oil drain gasket/washer. It probably doesn't need to be changed a lot or everytime if it is tightened good enough and doesn't leak I guess. Probably won't do it on mine since I don't think I did it last time.

    • @AutoFixYT
      @AutoFixYT  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I only change them when they leak. Technically, by the book, they're a one time use. But... I'm not a shop thag had a bucket of them on hand lol. So I use them for a long time.

    What up bro nice video I have a 1998 Toyota Camry V6 im about to do my oil change on my car but I herd you say you have over 200 thousand miles, have you ever done a transmission drain and fill i have 128 thousand miles on mine and u was wondering if you have and it do to do a video on that, like urs my car from the previous owner kept great care of the car but he said he never did that cause it never needed it but I want this car to last over another 200 thousand miles and just like the oil its good to change the transmission filter as well, thanks I just Subscribe to your channel hope to see more videos

    • @AutoFixYT
      @AutoFixYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have actually done several drain and fills on it. I usually put in 1/2 qt (now I use 1 whole quart) of Lucas stop slip transmission additive. My trans is old and tired and I can feel it slip when downshifting into first gear sometimes. Lucas seems to help it a lot. I use Castrol atf for import vehicles, it says Toyota on it so you can't miss it. Walmart has the best price on that but they don't always carry it.
      I'd say go ahead and drain the trans pan, and top it off with clean fluid. I try to do that every 20k miles which is often but you can't go wrong with that, keeps things nice and clean (also because I beat on that car a lot lol)

    I have the same gunk underneath my 2000 Camry V6 oil cap and I've been confused about it. Oil level on the dipstick is good and has a good history of routine oil changes, last one being around 4k miles ago. Not maintenance lights either and runs perfectly. So there shouldn't be a problem with my engine right?

    • @AutoFixYT
      @AutoFixYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No there shouldn't be any issues. Those engines are notorious for building up sludge and old oil deposits but if you change the oil every 4k miles you're doing the right thing. Keep the oil fresh and it will be good for a long time. Don't go by what you see under the oil cap. That are never sees any circulating oil. What you see there is just a little cover that is covering the hole that would leak into the camshaft area. No oil gets on there except for when you pour oil in. So it therefore never gets cleaned off

    I did an oil change on 2011 accent hyndai and I put the a brand new oil in but when I pull the dipstick it came out dry like there's no oil same thing happened with the transmission do you know what caused that ???

    • @AutoFixYT
      @AutoFixYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be the fact that you just need to let the oil settle. One some cars it may take a long time to get an accurate reading after you change the oil just because of the design of the engine. Could even take half an hour. Obviously make sure you're on level ground and that you added exactly how much you needed. But the only other explanation I can think of is what I just mentioned, it needs to settle for a while.

    One of the main causes for oil consumption is a bad pcv valve , change it every 25k miles or twice a year and you will see a difference , otherwise great video buddy

    • @AutoFixYT
      @AutoFixYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is true, although this car doesn't really have oil consumption issues. It uses up about half a quart every 4k miles, which is basically nothing for this mileage.
      Also, if your PCV valve gets clogged every 25k miles then there are some serious issues going on lol. Might be more beneficial to put a catch can in the PCV system too.

Had to remove lots of stuff, the main parts being upper and lower intake. These are made robust and to last! Suprising how many parts of this engine are made to work on.
