Wow, just WOW! What a beautiful Road Runner. I was nine year's old when the '69's came. Loved them then and love them now. In the mid seventies my best friend in high school drove a '70 RR 383 pistol grip four speed. At the same time my brother Steve owned two '67 Barracuda's and my brother Mike drove a '72 Duster 340. I didn't own a car, but once in a while I got the keys to my dad's '68 Fury. I am a Mopar guy all the way.
I’m like your brother Steve and I had a 67 barracuda but mine was a convertible, a 66 barracuda, both were yellow cars too and I never realized that till now since I didn’t have them at the same time, lol. I’ve had a couple road runners also. I’m a Mopar guy thru and thru and got the fever from my older brother when he bought his 69 road runner 383 4spd B5 blue, blue interior with bucket seats. They are by far my favorite cars out there!!
@@1982MCI That is awesome. Back in '75 when I was in high school, one of Steve's friend's dad was selling his '67 Barracuda convertible. It was dark blue with white interior and a 273 auto for 800 dollar's. My dad said no way and I lost out. In '78 after H.S., my friend who was a year younger than me picked up a '66 Barracuda with a 273 commando 4 speed. He let me drive that car all the time. I loved that car. I am lucky however, I managed to score a '71 Challenger convertible 340 auto, Hemi orange paint, and white interior in 1983. My mom helped me get the car. She has been sitting for sixteen year's now in my garage. Bad mistake! She was doing fine and I got into motorcycle's. Time got away from me. I know, stupid. I am working on putting her back on the road soon. I miss driving her. Mopar's rule!
That is one sweet ride. Correct factory exhaust tips. Magnum 500 wheels etc. About those haters, just get the hell out of the way and let them do their job!
That is sweet! Never saw that color combination before but it is gorgeous! Looks like the valve stem seals might be getting a little brittle with that puff of smoke after first starting after sitting. Kind of expected on a 50 year old engine and no big deal per se. Congrats, that is one sweet ride!
Wow! Had a ‘69 RR in high school. It was F5 green with a black vinyl roof and black interior, bench front seat, 383 with the Grabber hood and 4 speed. It also had the fender mounted turn signals. It was never as nice as yours. Congrats and enjoy!
I've been getting some feedback as to the Authenticity of this car. When I return from my camping trip I will post a video of the Data VIN tag and some more video of engine. As for the Thumbs down on this video I can only say either the feedback is from an uneducated or ignorant person. You do have the right to dislike, that is the freedom I fought for more than 30 years ago. Sorry for the ranting but sometimes ignorance justifies response.
Im responding just to say I give thumbs up, no matter what its a beautiful car you got lucky. Ill keep my eyes peeled on Data tag Im curious Car shines like new no fading and white interior isnt sun faded after 51 yrs must have been in a windowless garage and never left outside. white interior in my car has a brownish tinge I live near Buffalo ny not a sun capital LOL Have a safe Camping trip :)
Thanks fellow veteran and Mopar lover. Same here. Strange world we live in now, where people have no respect for others that laid their lives on the line for their freedom. I have a 70 Plymouth, that I've had for decades. My car has never been on the street. Always been a drag car. Yes it's in phenomenal condition. Thanks for sharing!
First thing I noticed was the two-tone paint. It's absolutely gorgeous. It sort of reminds you of the color schemes that were common in the 1950s and early 60s. And the period correct wheels, also made it stand out. Please take care of this car, (I know you will) as they are becoming more rare every year. Thanks for sharing this video.
Regardless of how many Vinyl top Roadrunners are out their I will still post my VIN next week when I return from camping. Since I have been challenged I will need to put this issue to bed. On a side note, a Roadrunner collector several months ago made an offer of $62,500 which scared me. He said if I disliked the offer he would possibly reconsider.
Color--the closest I could find was "Seafoam Turqouise Poly". I look at other cars that claim to be painted that color, and some seem close, others not at all. I like it.
My first car was a 70 Roadrunner burnt orange 383 4 speed and it got stolen too in 1981... I know how you feel, it has made me a more bitter person. I think I know who did it but they died back in 2014... Never could prove it. Damn. :(
By chance do you know the specs on the engine? What cam is in it? sounds amazing. Not to aggressive but real nice thump. Car is beautiful with the original wheels as well. Amazing color tone. I'm going to assume its a 440.. Hope to hear from you!
383 335hp all stock, 10k miles on the car. If you noticed the smoke that is a small bottle of 2 cycle oil in the gas tank and 2 gallons of 100 octane plane fuel. Just a little secret for good engine performance and protection. Also zinc additive in the oil. Still has factory points.
@@theoriginalmungaman a lot of people don't know this :-) convertible and air-conditioned cars got the 330 horse 383. Regular 2 door hardtop cars that came with the 383 had the 335 horse, that used the cam from the 440 Magnum... Reason was because of vacuum. About mid-year if I remember right, the 440 six pack was added in the lineup and the 426 Hemi was available right from the beginning of that model year of 1969. I guess someone could fact check me but I think I'm correct and I'm pretty sure you are LOL. +1 gpitt1969 - Absolutely stunning '69 but ...sigh... that cam does not sound quite stock. Typically, stock '68-'69 383 RRs had a very pronounced and unforgettable rrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr idle. Two high school buddies who lived only a couple of blocks away had them, one a '68 and the other a '69. It also had that trademark Mopar idle, but being a smaller block it wasn't quite as pronounced. And I think it wasn't just the firing order. Those wonderful exhaust tips had a built-in carefully engineered resonator chamber that enhanced and amplified the engine pulses. That's what gave the Mopars their trademark sound. Thankfully, this beautiful RR still has them. BTW vinyl roofs were the rage at that time and appeared in many colors. In fact, many '69 RR's had them. I seem to remember black, green, and even white versions were pretty common, although white was not quite as common. And gpitt1960, even if your uncle slightly upgraded his beloved '69 over the years it's still an immaculate gorgeous car. Treasure it and enjoy it! *_Merry Christmas_* from Thailand!
