As an African-American who's been to NY City many times, as well as having traveled E. Africa and to Nairobi multiple times... Nairobi for the win - easily! My only worry is that Nairobi maintains its natural beauty and cultural legacy. I never wish to see it become the overrated, filthy, unbelievably expensive, unfriendly, dangerous city that NY actually is. Nairobi KE has its own pblms too: bad local roads, corruption, greedy political officials, and punitive taxes, but the people & cuisine I luv❤
So true. Some places in Kenya are like a virgin and as people lose their fear of Africa and move in, hope the simple ways of living that protect the environment remain.
Nairobi is very vibrant, it is full of hope.. It needs business savvy young people who are daring and brave, there is hardly any racism. The Chinese are making inroads courtesy of their hard work and daring, we can't blame a man/woman for being hardworking, some if the younger Chinese might have hangovers of racial superiority but the nature Chinese are very flexible..something about respecting elders a common trait between Asia and Africa, an item the westerners must learn and asdimilate. There are problems and hiccups of course, which city or place does not have one or many such challenges? I hope that the politics of Kenya will settle down soon, those riots by the young git detailed and criminalized unfortunately but the message somehow got home, it shall not be business as usual for the bureaucrats and politicians , the greedy and corrupt. 99% of Kenyans at least, are decent hardworking honest individuals..on the most part. Very flexible sensible informed and ready to go .It is the tiny 0.10000% that has always managed to mess us up again and again. I detest that person who was lauding Uhuru Kenyatta...

Great video! I have never been to NY so can’t compare, but I do agree with a lot of the things you say about Nairobi. Yet, it’s ultimately just one perspective (and I understand we can only share our own perspective so this isn’t a criticism towards you). It sounds like you are still earning income from abroad and geographical arbitrage would of course make one’s purchasing power high and make you able to consume on all the nice things. Also, almost every woman in Nairobi I know, regardless of colour, has experienced a lot of safety issues. I think it’s ultimately a city with a lot of identities and there’s a strong divide between the haves and have nots, and I wish more Nairobians could enjoy the type of lifestyle you speak of here, because it indeed compares well with many other cities.
