Thanks for watching!
The drone to check out unfamiliar roads is a genius idea!
We so often forget the easiest modern solutions.. This is 😊
For open country anyway, actually maybe it could be flown low beneath a tree canopy.
I figured the drone would be great to survey the territory before getting into a situation where I couldn't turn around and get out.
Thank you I thought so
Keeps from getting into an area that I can't get out of.

Wow, there’s no end to people’s ingenuity. Well done.
Great guy! I love how he has the toy to remind him of his doggie. And the jacks to level the bed is genius!!
Thank you Bill for allowing Bob to share with us your home ✌️💞🤟
Thank you for watching my video
Bill is proof that if you really want something you will find a way! Thank you Bill & Bob! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Bill looks so happy and FREE!!!
I met Wild Bill at Pine Valley, Utah when he first started van life. Lovely human. He made me a little key chain. I still have it. Hi Bill!
Thank you im glad you still have it
Cool
This is wholesome stuff
This kinda stuff makes me glad the internet exists
I am glad you still have the key chain. 2 weeks ago I had to sell my van. Due to the wear and tear of climbing in and out and lifting things in and out. My body hurt so bad
So I bought a 2008 Nissan titan x4pro 4x4 v 8 engine with 59,000 on it. I'm going to put a hitch and get a small trailer to tow. That way I can stand up in it. I hope to see you again. If you need any laser engraved leather or anything else engraved let me know
Putting jacks on the bed legs so the bed can be leveled was brilliant! I plan on using a sofa/fold out bed but somehow I will incorporate jacks. With just a cheap level on the inside and one on the garage side there would never be any guesswork to when the bed was perfectly level for a good nights sleep. I have been following van life channels for years and it amazes me how beautifully simple modifications like these jacks can be missed by even the best of van designers and then one ordinary guy gets an idea that can improve quality of life for van dwellers.
Love how Cody makes himself at home anywhere! Great build. Seems like a good bloke.❤
Was thinking the same. Cody is like the lovey assistant.😂🐶
Well done Bill - you made a good choice to go into the van and continue life as a Nomad. I like the wooden drawers you use. They look very nice. I hope you may have many new and wonderful experiences down the road in thee new year. Thanks for sharing Bill & Bob.
Thank you I really appreciate your boost of confidence
How do you lock the drawers to keep then closed on the road?
Bill has it figured out, and quickly so! Love these very simple builds that look comfortable to live in/out of.
Wild Bill you got it figured out. Wishing you the very best! I hope to meet you someday.
Jacks to level the bed - genius. So many clever ideas in this van! Thanks for sharing and inspiring others.
What a good soul!
Thanks kevin
Was searching for vids of a no build Econoline vans when this gem hit my notifications...perfect. Thanks for sharing your home.
You are welcome anything I van do to help let me know
Over my life there've been times that I got thrown a "curve-ball".... lol, several I didn't even have a car so seeing someone w/ a
running van is a great thing to keep one off the streets. I've found that no matter how down -n- out we may be, ingenuity can
be found to better any circumstance. I'm glad you show them so others get ideas to make their "Curve-Balls" straighten out.
Merry New Year
Thank you. Sometimes you just have to tie a Knott and hang on.
Great stuff right here love this no-build awesome Bill keep living and loving and spreading kindness as you are.
Very much enjoyed seeing Bill’s creative build. Loved the way he hung the shower rod with caps. Innovative! His van is so similar to my 2002 Dodge Ram B3500 which also has 200 watts of solar. Great video!
Thank you.stay tuned I will be doing a follow up on my van
I like having things in the van that do more than one thing. The jack stand bed legs are fantastic in this respect.
Its nice to get to see all these people & their rigs. I'm 3 1/2 years full time in a travel trailer but rarely get to meet others who do this because I can't do the meet ups or boondocking. Virtually watching is better than nothing. Love seeing what orhers are able to do.
Love the "no build" build. My Chevy van had a back window like that and it was used to break in and steal the van (happened to a previous owner). See if there is a good way to secure it so they can't open the door from popping it open and then reaching the door latch.
Good idea I'll check into that
Thieves go for quick/quiet/easy - perhap some sort of lock & alarm set-up would make it less so... there has to be something like that out there...
If your van has child locks, they will prevent the door from being opened from the inside. The GM vans have this. To engage or disengage the child-lock function, a mechanism accessible only when the door is open is used. When it is engaged, the inside handle does nothing.
There is a danger with that. If your van is built in a way that blocks access to the front and you do not have a key fob, you will become trapped inside if all the child locks are engaged.
Great set up that Bill has. Wishing him only the best.
Great set up Bill!! You are very talented. Merry Christmas!
Thank you. I have a vivid imagination
It is so interesting what different ideas everyone has for living comfortable as a nomad. I like this! Thank you both!
Great simplistic home on wheels. Exactly fits my style. If only I could live that way... Cheers Bill and Bob!
You can
You can do anything you want to do. If you have any questions let me know
I like the van build. Simplicity at its finest
I love hearing everyone's story and how the go about solving the issues related to nomad living. I like this guy's set up :-) Very affordable!
Amazing ideas Bill enjoy your new found freedom.
Thank you
Great set up and awesome price.
Thank you
Nice rig. He's got all the essentials right there!
Yes I tried to to make it that way
Love the resourcefulness! Go Bill!
Merry Christmas to you both! Great video never would have thought of using bottle caps to help with the pressure rod. Thank you
That's a beautiful build! Amazing!
🔥 i love the pop out window
I like your program and your efforts to help people.
Now I want to see a leather portrait of Cody. What a cool guy!
If Bob would like and I had a picture of Cody I could put the picture on leather
Oh and big thanks to Bill 4 the jack stand leveling idea!!
Merry Christmas Bill from Central Valley CA. Hope you're having a great day with family.
Thank you for sharing! Great video 🤗👍He did an amazing job! 👍🤗
Great setup! Can't believe the laser is so compact!
Thank you for sharing this! ❤
Home is where I park it that's a good one
I love the bottle cap idea
Where can we find the water heater???
That just popped into my head
some of the beautiful people living on planet Earth
Jack stands?! Great idea!
Blessings to you Bill! Subscribed! would love to see recent leather. Your van is really neat!
such a great video. thanks CheapRVliving.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Great ideas!!!!
Thanks
Merry Christmas, Bob!
Tough way to live as one gets older....in the van always bending over inside etc...i give the guy credit for keeping on in life and he looks happy...i live full time in a 30 foot travel trailer and am lucky to be able to stay on military rv parks all over the usa....man i could not be a nomad off the grid...i need a shower twice a day and do not want to poop in a bucket....i did all that in the army when i was younger.....i will say if the choice is being a off grid nomad or living in a rented room in a city with other poor/broke older men in a house i would take the van though for sure.....God Bless to all....
I am not a nomad but I am a crafter and I am starting to learn leatherwork and I would love to know more about the engraver he is using!
Well the laser I had in the video was called a laser pecker. I now have a full size laser. Watch videos on laser engraving leather that's how I learned.
Please pass this to Bill - the back window that open, I also put two in - to keep out the bus, I put a nylon screen inside and used a cocking for window to hoped on the screen cut a small slit (at bottom ) for closing arm be working for two years no problems
Another great video. Thanks Men.
Merry Christmas Bob!
Love the drone idea!
Merry Christmas to you and Cruzy
I could do dat! Sweet, TY and merry Christmas to all!
Did you insulate the van? What are the walls made of?
The walls have a plastic all the way around. In-between the van walls and the plastic. It looks like reflectix for insulation
Nice man, nice home.
Lots of ingenuity in this build! Bill seems like a lovely person, glad he’s enjoying his van life!! Thanks for the tour, gentlemen.
Jack stands! Genius!!!
Clever and practical ideas. How tall are you? So many builds have the bed crosswise and it seems short… I’m 5’10”.
It looks like the rear window seals well against exhaust.
No smell of exhaust thank goodness
Stock tailpipe exit for that van would be out the side behind the passenger side rear tire so he should be OK even with the window open when driving. Exit the tailpipe out the rear and it's a problem, even super critical that the rear door seals are sealing correctly. That applies to all vehicles with a flat squared off back due to the aerodynamics creating a low pressure area directly behind the vehicle.
Jack stands are a great idea
You are an Amazing man. I love you van a lot.
Jack Stand Bob
I want to do this soooooo badly. I've always said I had a gypsy soul lol. I want to go as low tech as possible. Is there a basic list of necessities for power and refrigeration?
I just prioritized. 1 power 2 refrigeration for food, ability to stay clean and bathroom potty.
I use a solar generator. Plug and play. No running wires - just a couple of cords. Completely portable.
Nice van, interesting man - thanks!
4:43
I have a promaster that I've converted you could tour and some experience I could share
Cool video. Nice rig, simple and smart.
I saw a video with a lady and child that had some kind of F-something van that was very well insulated. Could you speak on that?
How tall are you bill does the height present much bother
Can i have bill contact i would like have dome leather work😊
Sorry for the loss of your dog... 😢
🎉merry Xmas..no build
I'd like to know how people have air conditioning.
There are battery powered portable ac units for van life
"Under $200" ...except for the $1,200 fridge and the $350 water heater and the $1500 Jackery and...? Not to take away from Bill and what he's accomplished here, the headline on this particular video seems just a tad misleading. Just sayin'.
Cool. Some homeless, but lucky dog will find him soon.
Thank you for another enjoyable (and educational) van tour! I have a few awesome take-aways on this one! ...this is the 1st time I've seen someone use jackstands for the legs of their bed (what a great idea!) and also love the idea of using a drone to check out roads before venturing down them!
Happy Holidays!🎄🚐
Thank you I thought the jackstands were a good idea myself.
Love this video. It's the most realistic van life I have seen. Most others are rich people showing off how much money they can spend. Thank you.
Thank you I really appreciate your kind words
Yep, I'm with ya on this. I don't watch the ones that people with boat loads of money have to spend converting their van or cargo trailer. I want to be able to relate to folks that make due with what they have or convert with little of nothing. Those are the real deal "imo".
Totally agree. It’s unrealistic for most of us.
I believe in being up front and honest and true to my self and honest.
@homelessnomad101 I agree. I believe in being up front and honest, and true to myself and others.
He seems to be a nice gentleman and genuine person. Best of luck in your new nomad life
This is better than the over the top thousands of dollars builds
That was really cool! Van was amazing and the fact that he can now support himself with the leather works is impressive. Good job Bill.
Always interesting seeing the ingenuity of peoples builds in order to live comfortably in such small spaces.
Merry Christmas, Bob, and all you nomads this holiday.
I'm getting closer and closer to van life. 2024 will see me in a cargo van. These videos show me how easy it is to outfit and go. I like a mix of spartan and luxury but leaning more on the spartan more with less thing.
Just sit in your van and imagine outside the box, and you will come up with great ideas as well
So simple and inexpensive!
I like Bills rig and how it’s set up I have a 2012 version and I love everything about it except the gas mileage but I can run the E85 which is much cheaper, that was the selling point for me. It’s unbelievably warm up here so my propane use is down. But appreciate Bill and Bob for this video. See y’all down the road 😊
Thank you for viewing
What is an E85? Thànks
I love all your jerry-rigging💙great stuff.. fantastic ways to keep the price down! 👍🏾
Happy Holidays Bob - Thank you for everything you do for the community !
Great set up Bill, thanks for sharing lads 😊
Met bill at the Pahrump caravan, but never saw the rig. Love the jacks for leveling the bed. Want that fridge! Happy Holidays everyone!
Yes the jackstands were awsome. Thank you for your kind words
I have a couple jacks I was going to donate, but now thinking I need to add them to my van life arsenal😊
Good build. I love the simple builds. Great job.
Very smart Bill - bringing them fishing poles - I'd do that too, nice rig
Thanks I thought that if I had to go into survival mode I can catch my food
Looks like he is using bottle jacks to support and level his bed, not jack stands. Jack stands are limited to just a few adjustment settings while bottle jacks can be cranked up to any position. It's a great idea! You can level the van as much as possible but sometimes it is hard to get it perfect. With the bottle jacks you can fine tune the bed so it is perfectly level.
Thanks for telling me the real name of the stands I appreciate it
What a great idea to replace windows that are better. It’s got me thinking. 😄
I simply LOVE how this guy has managed to build a livable space without having to have any building skills. I also admire that he’s a fisherman. 😇
I'm shivering watching it all the way from Nor Cal. He needs to add insulation as he mentioned at 7:05.
You must be pretty short to sleep sideways in a man.
He's cool, thanks Bob..love the idea for his bed 🛌 😀
Yea Bob really liked the stands to
