My Grandmother converted an old school bus and just travelled in it and enjoyed life 50 years ago. She was always so much fun and so adventurous about everything. I loved it when she came to visit.
Thank you for this video! What a great attitude. Her trailer wasn't staged or made to look like it came out of a factory. And it all works perfectly for her. Excellent, realistic interview and tour! When I was in Monticello, UT, there were hummingbirds that very often flew very close to me. There was no aggression and I didn't have a feeder. A woman in the same campground noticed and approached me mentioning them. She asked if that always happened and I told her no, only within the last @ 6 months. She smiled and told me how happy she was for me because they represented joy and it meant that I had found my joy. I'll never forget it. ♥️
I'm a single woman, just now buying an RV, and it is so encouraging to see videos like this. I just watched 3 in a row, all female, so it makes me feel much better about my decision. It's scary at times, but the hard part is getting out. I have a lot of clutter from my family to get rid of by the end of my lease, but I can just imagine how much easier it will be to breathe once I lighten my load, now!
I'm looking into it too....am 68 and daunted by it all but nonetheless ... Almost done working, going to clear out my cluttered place and onwards... I've never felt 'home' anywhere in my life so .... ♥️🇨🇦
Why don't we purchase a house in the country.. And allow for ten trailers of us older women and all have to pass a background check. Can put up a couple of outhouses and then dig proper sewer puts for the rvs etc and a well point for water hook up. And everyone pitch in the 200k or so. Some of the country homes in the boondocks are cheap enough no neighbors to complain etc keep it more hidden if need be..
Amazing. She saved herself a pile of money by purchasing an older camper, and an older tow truck. She is able to make a living, and make MONEY by being a book keeper accountant for companies. She uses all the systems onboard as they were meant to be used, draining the tanks every 14 days. She has reliable internet, and also Direct TV for entertainment. She did what she wanted to do.
Hello , how great. I've seen many of Bob's interviews. I found my camper for free on Craigslist, very nice inside. I just gave it to my grand daughter as I've now got motorhome class C. I lived in camper one winter in northern Minnesota. Took out booth n put in little wood stove. greatest time of my life. will be back on road soon. Blessings to all.
Bob, I have to remind myself to click "like" on your videos - they are so GOOD I get sucked in immediately and start planning my own cargo trailer conversion in my head that I have to go back and like them! I can't thank you enough for this channel - what a treasure trove of information for everyone, regardless of domicile/lifestyle!
My husband and I have been living in our 5th wheel trailer for about 3 years now. We got tired of shady landlords and high cost of living. We purchased our trailer for 1,000. We got super lucky! It's about 12 years old and in great shape. More and more people are starting to do this. Makes sense to us. :)
Wish I could find a great deal like that, because I'm trying to save up to buy a camper, but it's extremely hard when you don't draw a lot on disability. Anyway this is my dream & exactly how I want to live out the remainder of my life.
Bob- Thanks for this awesome video! Kathy is a great example of the courage and creativity that so many full-timers seem to possess- when she wants to do something, she DOES it! Your work is so inspiring and so helpful to so many! Keep it up!
I have 3 years to work toward this type of life.I'm starting my 2017 year learning from many of these videos.I am starting to eliminate my collections and working on my inner peace.I'm a nurse and can help people anywhere.I love these videos!
It is the media that has brainwashed us into thinking we need bigger things, more things, younger things, shiny things, etc. Pretty much we should have learned by now that if the media tells us it's good and the celebrities tell us it is good, then we know it is not! The goal should not be how much more we need to earn and how much more we need to have, the goal should be how little we need to survive! Stay simple and enjoy life!
Ernesto T. great comment. id rather travel and see new scenery and meet new friends on the road doing the van or suv living i recently bought a suv to do this with..and you can add a travel trailer later to a van or suv if you want more living space
Ernesto T. great. what country are you in? spain? my sister just got back from spain. i bought a european car to do the suv dwelling in a used mercedes suv so the car is from europe. how are van or rv living laws there verses in usa? stuff doesn't make you fulfilled i just happen to have a hobby which is cars. what makes you fulfilled is experiences and meet genuine friends along the way and van or suv dwelling allows this to happen
pitbull mom Please visit Carolyn's RV Life channel. It will give you confidence to do this. And you can always fine like - minded women to travel with (each in your own space) on occasion if that makes you more comfortable.
Bob, love your channel man, you're a great fellow. You have convinced me to get out there and do it. I have my ex wife who lives with me, because she is a stroke survivor. Our son is grown and out on his own. We are going to start in oregon because its so beautiful, and the weather close to the coast seems to b e perfect. We are both on disability, together we make about 2000.00 a month. Not much, but enough to get out there and enjoy our lives while we can. Gonna start by living in a tent for about 5 or 6 months while finding an rv, about like kathys, we don't need much, and it doesn't take much. My only concern is drs, and getti,g her meds, as lo,g as she takes her meds she does great. And I truly believe getti,g out in the open fresh air and meeting great people like you will do her good. Keep up the videos, because I will be watching and learning from you. Have great one Bob.
Military life does make one comfortable with a nomadic lifestyle. As a veteran and a young explorer I've always sought to explore and the idea that the world is your friend... Much love Kathy. Thanks Bob.
Thank you. Some people say they are military kids with disdain - I am SUPER proud to have been raised as a Navy brat! Made me who I am today for many reasons.
As a child, most wouldn't like being "uprooted" if they do better with stability. I enjoyed the challenges & experiences of new places & things. Left home at 14 & saw the world is about learning, adapting, & sharing. Most folks are cultivated in bubbles that only expand a tiny bit over their lifetime (cruises don't count, J/K). Glad you've had a nonUS lifestyle experience. It really adjusts ones life perspective & humbles. Saw in Iraq & other places how comfortable & care free a mud hut in 125 degree weather w/ a garden & a few goats really was.
I so envy her set up! She has everything one would need in a sticks and bricks home. Wow! People knock solar power, citing when its cloudy and rainy for days on end, the batteries go low and you got nuthin. I guess with this mode of living one could easily say "Oh hell no!" jump in their rig and move at the drop of a hat to where it is sunny. LoL. Of course I would think a small backup generator could fill in the gap as well.
Kathy- Thank you so much for sharing your set up and your life with us! I am so proud to be your friend and so happy that the road brought us together! You are an amazing soul, so brave and creative and full of life! It is really inspiring to see you live YOUR life and to refuse to listen to anyone who has doubts or thinks it can't be done. You keep proving them wrong! Can't wait to camp with you again soon! Big love, Scott and Yolie
It was a real pleasure watching this. Our camping days are behind us but I can camp vicariously thru videos like this. Kathy seems like a doll. You go, girl.
I relate to this woman so much. From having a pull-behind to the outfits to the hair to the love for Mexico I feel like I'm looking at myself in 20 years and I'm excited about it :D
Thanks for sharing your life, Kathy. We'll be leaving next week, finally, for Florida. This year will be different with a little cat. She's a good girl, but very much an "inside" animal. We'll see how we get along. Brian and I are very blessed to have two beautiful adult children, one with 3 kids and a wonderful fiance and one single and quiet to sit our house and keep it safe, God willing. So I hope you have good travels and who knows, someday it may be "hi" in real life. Safe travels to you. God bless.
Donna Dowless Hi Donna, I'm going to do a video about how I work online in my van. one of the things I do is book keeping for my clients I'm going to do a series on all the different jobs I do. Happy New Year!
Thank you for introducing so interesting and smart people, really able to cope with life! This is one of my favourites, she's so calm and self conscious. And I love her dresses;-). I've always loved tent life around Scandinavia in my younger years, now, at 62 I can't sleep good, when it's noisy around, maybe I should try this opportunity. But all these cables around...I wonder whether I could get a clue to manage that. I'm very impressed how thoughtful Kathy organised her needs and even her job. You're right, internet is shrinking the distances! Thanks from Germany, Monika
We are in the process of buying a 1966 MCI that was converted in the 1990's we are so excited about this. We lived on a small sailboat for a year so we know how to live simple.
Nice setup! lol I live in the same trailer down to the curtain colour and plaid accents. Got tired of the property tax and 2 acres of lawn at the McMansion. Glad that it's working out well for you!
I am so excited about my retiring in less then 15 years, after watching this video!!! At the end of the video he mentioned that she had found her tribe and VERY recently I had been talking to God about "Where is my tribe?!?" And, now, I know I'll find them when I become a full on nomad!!!!!
That is so very true. Once you hit the road you will be more aware of others who do the same as you and as long as you are willing to meet them, they (we) tend to be very down to earth people and welcoming.
I retired 2 years ago at 50. It's great except I did go thru work withdrawals 😂🤣. I do volunteer work and I'm big on gardening. My husband retires in 5 years and that's when we will completely down size and start traveling more.
I finally got my camper last year and live full-time stationary and I watch this video repeatedly for inspiration. Does Kathy have a channel? Would love to see an updated video with her.
Love it! I bought my 1984 GMC Pathfinder 30 foot Class A RV for $1500! (Yes, one thousand five hundred dollars!). You don't need a fancy $100,000 rig to do this. I can't wait until I am able to "upgrade" to a truck and truck camper.
Kathy has a live life to its fullest attitude. It seems that she isn't afraid to try anything. Thank you for bringing this video back to us Bob. She reminded me that I won't need tens of thousands of dollars to do this.
very affordable RV with all the simple things that you need...Thank you for sharing...all the best Kathy...love the colorful and cheerful dress no wonder the humming bird joined in...
What a joy Kathy is! I hope she is continuing to do well! I really love the size of her camper and all the storage, I hope to find one for myself. Thanks for reposting this video!
I have a 1975 23ft Wilderness that I am bringing back to life.I paid 1000$ for it but have had to put at least another 3000$ into it to replace the entire floor, all the walls and the ceiling because of the moisture damage and the mold. I am now finally at the fun stage which is the decorating. It still needs new ceiling vents, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, window treatments so I'm anticipating another 1000$ investment. I purchased this as temporary housing for our son who was having issues. I didn't realize it had the water damage that it did. That didn't work out but because of the financial issues that my husband and I are having right now the Wilderness may be our home soon.We would have to sell both our cars in order to purchase a truck to pull the trailer. I'm scared to death. I watch these videos for encouragement...
I’m loving her bright caftans! I’m in my mid 50’s and own several now. They are so much nicer than a baggy tshirt and leggings, and I like the silky fabric and how it instantly improves my mood. I enjoy many outdoor activities and find myself in pants too much, so I revel in femininity in a gown.
What a charming and accomplished woman. CRV, you are either an experienced or a natural interviewer, using empathy to relax your interviewees. Brilliant!
Hi bob, I am like your friend, Kathy, also Kathy.. I live in CT. I bought a 25 ft. 1987 Fleetwood Prowler lynx (with recycling) $$ for $100.00....I am looking forward to living in it...I went from a 9 room house to my daughters basement with no heating elements.... I have learned survival skills when my husband abandoned me. I have learned to do all the work in the trailer myself. It was an empty shell. I have done insulation, working on wiring now. I am trying to find a ct forest to live in... but I am also seeking a f/t job now. I have lots of people give me recycling to put towards fixing it. just wanted to contact you about that... will keep you updated, maybe you can do a story on me? :)
Before going to work for the NIH (Fed), I lived in the Dominican Republic for 3 years appreciate Kathy's Mexico experience. After 8 years, I graduated my last of 3 sons this past year & husband of 30 yrs up & left 2 years prior...so I'm seriously looking for something that I can implement as a strategy. It will be hard to shed so much stuff (I've started) but I'm encouraged by the positive reception. Back over 30 years ago I lived out of my car for a year to save money for college...I loved it...surfed, showered, went to work and surfed...then pulled out my sleeping bag and slept on the beach. There are some wonderful people to meet if you don't fear everyone nor believe every story!
Wow memories, when my mom remarried after dad passed away. The man had 675 acres and rented out 'cabins' to fishermen and hunters 3 rooms full living/kitchen/bath. But wanted to built a lodge. So he bought this same trailer and they lived in it 3 years while the building was going up. I guess I mom only found it small when me my bro and our wives visited lol.
I just bought an 1982, 20ft 5th wheeler for $1800, no leaks, everything works. Needs some touch ups here and there, but honestly was a great find. Im just now trying to figure out what solar panels to buy. Cant wait to get everything set up!
Such an excellent video, I've seen it before, but I really needed to see it again, I'm so thankful that you shared this Bob. I know really very little myself with solar etc, she is so encouraging. I keep thinking that maybe I need a companion (but I don't want to marry again) so seeing that this wonderful woman is doing this by herself is so inspiring to me!
better to save money and pay for a professional to install solar. Also - if you look there are groups that connect and handle tasks for each other. Who knows what can be bartered for a little power from the sun!
@@jaytalbert7123 Are you depressed? I wear kaftans all the time.. And I'm saving for a van.. Not sure why you're being hostile.. Maybe ask the god you mentioned earlier. Peace brother 🙏🏽💜🖖🏾
Wow! So refreshing to see people live their real freedom with less stuff, more living, more life, dependence on everything, such as the grid, society, exct. Congrats
I live in Akron Ohio and I own a small house which I love but for some reason i am fascinated with your videos. I read John Steinbeck 's short book "Travels with Charlie ' which is about John and his dog Charlie packing up a truck of necessities and taking off to tour the United States. Your videos remind me of that book. I am fascinated with how people use creative ways to live in a small space and with not much money. And they are extremely happy. Its awesome!!! Who knows maybe some day I might do the same !!! Thank you
My very first camper was this very same lay out but only 17ft and older with a wet bath, camped with my husband three children sometimes Mom or Dad, I now have a 34 ft fifth wheel with four slide outs, I would trade it tomorrow to have my little camper like this back, so many many more fun memories if we could only learn it doesn’t take the newest and the best to be happy!😊
When I see a rig like this I really want to go the RV route, since everything is built in. But everyday I fall more in love with step vans. 🌻😊🌻 Thanks, Bob for this interview and continued blessings and good luck to Kathy.
Bob, I have got a prowler and when my husband retires we are hoping to do the nomad living. I watch all ur TH-cam video's to learn what to do. I always check to see if u have a new video out. Please keep them coming. Thanks for all info.
Also, rents have gone thru the roof. Families are living out of their campers, trucks, etc. when there's kids in the picture, you can't move around when you want to. This system we now live is about to implode, soon.😞 enjoy your life and keep safe from the crazies😟
I have no problem full time RVing with a kid. I homeschool so I don't have the school issue. I do tend to stay in one place a bit longer. 4 months or so.
My Grandmother converted an old school bus and just travelled in it and enjoyed life 50 years ago. She was always so much fun and so adventurous about everything. I loved it when she came to visit.
I truly appreciate this man's attitude and interviewing style.
That’s what I thought too- he was so encouraging to her and us throughout. Really nice.🙂
Yes!!
He's a National Treasure
Great amount of restraint. Sometimes you just ....don't say it
Agree.
I'm glad during this interview, Bob and his guest are sitting down relaxing rather than the usual standing up interview. Great interview!
Thanks for the inspiration Kathy.
Bob has a unique talent for bringing out the best in all.

Not sure about the Mexican analogy as there are so many clamouring to get out!
Why don't we purchase a house in the country.. And allow for ten trailers of us older women and all have to pass a background check. I could definitely live like this one day when my kids grown. Simplicity and functional. Love it. Doesn't need to be expensive.
This is exactly the type of thing I need to watch when I start getting doubts about pursuing a nomadic life.

Kathy Bluehat - Thank you so much for being open to sharing your story and how you're enjoying life on the road!!!
I retired 2 years ago at 50. It's great except I did go thru work withdrawals 😂🤣. I do volunteer work and I'm big on gardening. My husband retires in 5 years and that's when we will completely down size and start traveling more.
Bob you are so lovely to everyone.I love watching your videos.
Beautiful GOWN! Brave Lady! My kind of people!
I've seen this one before and love it ! It's one of my favorites. What a cozy little home she has ! Thanks, Bob !
I finally got my camper last year and live full-time stationary and I watch this video repeatedly for inspiration. Does Kathy have a channel? Would love to see an updated video with her.
She is a beautiful spirit!
Still my most favorite TH-cam channel!
Love it! I bought my 1984 GMC Pathfinder 30 foot Class A RV for $1500! (Yes, one thousand five hundred dollars!). You don't need a fancy $100,000 rig to do this. I can't wait until I am able to "upgrade" to a truck and truck camper.
Amanda, you just proved there are some great deals out there, thank you!
This was a treat. So fortunate for Kathy to find this setup her first time!
thank you
Kathy has a live life to its fullest attitude.
Thank you Gloria
Very pleasant person. I am starting to see many people that I would like to meet when I embark as a nomad. Thanks Bob!
This is amazing that she does this all by herself!
I love her outfits!!!!! So pretty!!!!
Your best interview ever!! Bob Wells! Capt Wilkus
What a joy Kathy is! I hope she is continuing to do well! I really love the size of her camper and all the storage, I hope to find one for myself. Thanks for reposting this video!
Thank you!
Kathy Bluehat Wonderring how we can get in touch with Kathy, if we ever desire to use her accounting svs?
You can email me at: katandthehat99 - at - gmail
UN SALUDO desde MEXICO,gracias por sus sinceros comentarios a cerca del pais donde residio,le deseo lo mejor siempre, nice lady good luck.
Aye Muchas Gracias Manuel. Me encanto Mexico y voy a regresarme muy pronto para 4 meses. Que tenga muy buen vida!
I am 51 years old and like them too.
Ok, completely unrelated but I'm loving the kaftans/dresses!!!!!!
2019 an I have to say me too
Incredible outfits.
lol..me too!
Me too. Love the kaftan. Good video.
☘️🌝🌲
The pattern books are starting to carry them again.
Not bad for $2500, so cool.
It's so nice to see all the different ways people live and thrive! Thanks for sharing.
What a charming and accomplished woman. CRV, you are either an experienced or a natural interviewer, using empathy to relax your interviewees. Brilliant!
Thanks, you are very kind!
Kathy, I'd love to do that! My camp is always open to you, swing by and we will shoot a video.
where is your camp
Looking for driver Kathlene Lopez-Martin i am a legal blind afrowoman who really want to see USA why i can and living Nomad
Go
If I ever loose my husband I would love to try camper living.
I luv this trailer, size and floorplan.hoping to find one like it with a reasonable price
It's a great home, very cozy nice home🐾❤
Chris, what a great story! I think it may be time to get back to your true roots!
I LOVE this idea!!! And Kathy got a great deal on that trailer. WOW!!!
I love it too! And yes, I did get a great deal.
It is really easy to do on your own Teresa. It is very gratifying.
Kathy Bluehat thanks, i'm sure it is, i need to gain some confidence!!
Kathy Bluehat h
better to save money and pay for a professional to install solar. Also - if you look there are groups that connect and handle tasks for each other. Who knows what can be bartered for a little power from the sun!
Teresa Alley and rr
Exactly! I've always felt that material things are so unimportant; no big houses, no fancy cars, just a simple life!
Wow! She really has it all together....job, home on wheels and a beautiful floral dress 😉
FLOral?? u mean tye dye
phh she switched dresses half way threw lmaooooo
I wanna live in a camper, wear kaftans and forget my English 🙏🏽💜🖖🏾🌻🚐
@@jaytalbert7123 not quite sure what you meant by that lol 🙃🙏🏽💜🖖🏾
@@jaytalbert7123 Are you depressed? I wear kaftans all the time.. And I'm saving for a van.. Not sure why you're being hostile.. Maybe ask the god you mentioned earlier. Peace brother 🙏🏽💜🖖🏾
Considering doing this myself! Nice video...Kathy, you are amazing!
SO glad to have found this information .. Soon to be me doing this. Great info...
Wow! So refreshing to see people live their real freedom with less stuff, more living, more life, dependence on everything, such as the grid, society, exct. Congrats
A beautiful woman living a beautiful life 💖💖💖
I live in Akron Ohio and I own a small house which I love but for some reason i am fascinated with your videos. Thank you
Nice to see this video again. I enjoy the forest view behind Kathy. Looks like a really nice little RV to live in.
Oh she's a sweet heart! Many blessings to her
Love your interviews and the people you meet!!!
OMG she's fabulous. I love her dress/gown.
When I see a rig like this I really want to go the RV route, since everything is built in. But everyday I fall more in love with step vans. 🌻😊🌻 Thanks, Bob for this interview and continued blessings and good luck to Kathy.
I would LOVE to live like this one day, but do medical billing instead of bookkeeping!! ☺
That's a great idea! Go for it!
Bob, I have got a prowler and when my husband retires we are hoping to do the nomad living. I watch all ur TH-cam video's to learn what to do. I always check to see if u have a new video out. Please keep them coming. Thanks for all info.
Beautiful first time l see one like that !!
Wow, I’ll be a nomad in a year and I can’t wait. My trailer is similar. She’s awesome!
Very nice video and nice lady you interviewed. I'm in the process of gathering what I need to follow the group. Can't wait for my new journey to begin
Thank you.
Awesome Lady! An inspiration! 🥰
Also, rents have gone thru the roof. Families are living out of their campers, trucks, etc. when there's kids in the picture, you can't move around when you want to. This system we now live is about to implode, soon.😞 enjoy your life and keep safe from the crazies😟
I don't want to, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to totally agree with you!
Verlenabydesign Sutton living like this is not bad at all. But yeah with kids it's tougher.
You are living in the wrong places. I live in a rural area without a lot of regulations.
Where you are living isn’t the whole of America ...
There are ppl with kids that are off grid but they home school which is better.
I have no problem full time RVing with a kid. I homeschool so I don't have the school issue. I do tend to stay in one place a bit longer. 4 months or so.
