Thanks for watching!
He adopted an elderly blind dog - that is the sweetest thing ever ❤. Really like the unique build ideas for the van.
Thanks for giving Barny a sweet soft place to live out his life. You're a hero for him.
I have a blind dog as well. Barney looks so comfortable and acclimated to his new surroundings. Happy he's got a great life!
He's a happy dog!
I think Scott just started a trend with those canvas cabinet doors. What an excellent idea!!!
Exactly!, for me, weightless is a huge plus, & the canvas can be painted or whatever!
I loved that idea and will use it and many of Scotts ideas, love the tool box cabinets for storage (that's far out) when I begin my build in a CT.
that was my fav part, as well. i think i’ll call them “scott cabinets”.
So many ingenious little ideas there...but the canvas was definitely my favorite too. The big pharmacy chains print photos on canvas (cheap if you watch for their half price deals), so you could use them as decoration as well as cabinet doors. Big thumbs up for adopting Barney too!😊❤
This guy is an amazing person not just because of his genius repurposing of every day stuff but because he has adopted Barney, a beautiful blind senior pup.
im not even kidding but scott might be my hero lol. my grandfather passed away last year and he was the same way always using different materials to make things instead of just buying brand new. we have cabinets and storage made from old food containers and artwork. the day i get a van i hope its half as cool as this one
Totally brilliant ❤🇬🇧
This. May loving, fun, fond memories of your grandfather comfort and motivate you. 🥺❤🙏

Hi
This guy is AWESOME! From the cookie sheet stove light, the painting cabinet door, and the spam cans haha. There have been some unique vans on this channel, but Scott's build takes the cake for me. Unique and clever.
We love Scott and Barney.. spent a good amount of time with him in Durango. Best Man and dog Duo ever
Great and unique build!! What a great man to adopt an older handicapped dog!
This is officially my favorite build yet. I want one! And then, when he showed his beautiful dog he adopted, you know this is the guy you want as your best friend. ❤
This guy really knows how to think outside the box!! Love his rig!!✌🏻💕
Inside the box as well haha.
Bless this man for adopting that precious pup ❤
This guy’s the GOAT! and that little doggo won my heart over in a nanosecond!
Glad Macgyver is enjoying his retirement.
A really nice and generous guy with a kind heart. He makes the world a better place.
Little Barney is very confident and happy playing around on the bed❤❤❤time spent with your dog is time well spent!!!
The best thing was the precious little dog.❤
Scott is the friend and neighbor we all need.
This guy is incredible. Not only was it cheap but unique and looked amazing. I love the belt holders and canvas doors.
Best van build I've ever seen. This man is great at thinking outside of the box with his use of materials, and everything looks nice. Yes, the crate and canvas idea is genius.
Love this! I am all about repurpose, reuse. As the Marines say, Improvise, overcome and adapt!
Agree - And my grandma taught me "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, do without".
Yes!!!
He's an inventor. Genious
Highly creative guy…his green truck looks very comfortable. I would buy this rig in a second.
That's amazing. This guy's living the great life peacefully and free. No bills, no rent, wow, anybody would trade this for this life in the city.❤
We were in the same camp! He’s such a nice guy….And Rig 👍🏼
Cheap But Brilliant describes this very nice van. This man is indeed brilliant too & well spoken. Enjoyable video!
Wow! This man's brain works on a totally different level than the common man. He's either freaking brilliant or simply creative. I guess it's where the two meet. Like a Nomad Macgyver. And anybody willing to live in a former "Disaster Cleanup & Recovery Van" is just a real bad ass.
What a treat to meet Scott and tour his rig. Love the color!💚 Definitely like the idea of using lightweight wooden crates and painter’s canvas as shelving. Also learned to use “S” shaped plumbing to connect sink to gray tank to prevent smells. Thanks for all the tips!
Brilliant! Creative! Your doggy is so adorable
Best rig I’ve seen! Good bang for the buck! It’s comfortable, inviting and warm.. like the owner! 👍👍
The tool chest for storage is genius
He got the money from a friend & then ghosted the person
Things are not always what they seem
I've been contemplating a box truck on/off for a few years now, and really like what this gentleman has done with his. Many good ideas here.
That's what my grandparents called recycling.
The 2 battery setups help the problem of matching the battery types or brands when you want to upgrade
And if one system fails you have plan B
The slated crates and canvas pictures was genius.
I loved the Harbor Freight tool boxes, I think I might do that also
What a fantastic man, adopting an elderly blind dog from a rescue. Much respect to him from here in the UK. Thank you. I also love his van build and the uniqueness of it.
Is that Wilford Brimleys son? Kidding. Nice build
Sweet dog....he's a happy camper!🐶
I really like this style of both van and personality you can tell he is a problem solver.
Canvas ideas were great. And his dog is the cutest.
Whimsical and practical. Very nice build. Go Blue!
Such a nice guy! Super cute pup 🥰 I love his set up! Very homey! Thank you for sharing with us all. Stay blessed and safe 💚
Love this interview. Very cool practical and creative guy.
People like this gentleman who know how to make things and who are creative are a joy. I love his vehicle and the size, but for myself an interior shower would be a must. that's for safety and security.
Shower curtain hangs from hooks in the ceiling collapsible dog pool and rechargeable camp shower
I like the pointers on the diesel bugs and the s curved piping in the sink, just to name a few. This is the kind of video that gets the wheels turning…🧠. Pun intended! 🚛
That is one of the coolest, most practical builds I've seen - Very proud to be a fellow Michigander! Wish I could improvise as well as Scott does! lol
I really love how he thinks outside the box! Who would have thought of using dog collars like that?! Brilliant!
Loved this van build!!!! You have a lot of great ideas. I really liked the canvas door idea and the tool chest idea, but you had many more ( like the cake pan to extend your wall. Amazing!! Thanks for sharing. I plan to use a lot of your ideas 💡when I build. 😊
my mind was blown on the art canvas cabinet doors. i have watched dozens of videos just on van build cabinets and doors- rustic, custom, prefab big box, repurposed vintage, even a couple videos on making them from styrofoam.
none of them beat these. these cost very little, weigh nothing, come in a zillion sizes, literally made to hang up so simple-simon to install, come 100% neutral looking but made to be painted or embellished to your heart's content, totally function for the purpose...
and the big one for me after living in my self-built van for 8 years: easily replaceable. not a topic i've ever seen covered but that to me has turned out to be important.
because when, over time, an element wears out, breaks, doesn't fit or function optimally, you want to rearrange so need a different dimension of an element, or you just get sick of looking at it, you will want to replace it, and that can pose a very pesky problem when you live and travel fulltime in a very small space, in very remote places.
Those canvas doors are beyond awesome.
🐂🇺🇸🐱🐎🤠
I don’t call it cheapskate, I call it ‘make-do’! Just love this stuff❤
Love the build. The canvas doors are brilliant!
My favorite by a landslide! Every part was ingenious!
Good to know about that trap in the gray tank drain! Lots of good ideas and info.
My uncle was always repurposing various items! Scott’s use of old belts, cavas paintings, the baking sheet is inspiring! However, just how he has continued to improve his living space shows a creativity! I will probably remember the color of his home the longest! Thank you both for this tour! Loved it!!
I use filing cabinets for canned goods too!
Such creative ideas! Thank you for sharing your home with us. Cute Pooch!
Good creativity. Necessity is the mother of invention. (And always, form follows function!)
I liked the back wall redo with the Cedar slats Nice cheap repurpose build
Super cool and off the charts innovative. Bless you and Barney out on the road 🛣️.
I love the lime green. When I got my shuttle in 2019 (before coronavirus) I wanted mine painted this color and up front at the top write “Got Corona?” Then virus hit and I figured I better not. lol. I love his cabinet idea too.
🤣🤣🤣
Award: "Best Non-Conventional Use of Materials". 9x13 baking pan for the kitchen fan, cookie sheet for the light over the stove, SPAM cans!, Crates & Canvas for cabinets, cedar fencing (lighter weight and less expensive than T&G), split solar system. Very useful tips: "S" trap, keep your diesel in the dark. Thank you to infinity and beyond!
I like how he was just so matter of fact about it, nothing scary, very practical, he feels easy in this life - very cool. EXCELLENT tips & info throughout! (esp about the diesel bugs-yike).
That is a seriously cute little dog. Good hearted man to adopt an older dog. I really like his storage solutions. Ice cream off the grid is living the dream😊
this is great - I grew up poor and it is amazing what you can do if you think about it. Using tool boxes is a great idea.
Genius! Love the spam can idea! You could cover them with contact paper if you want to match your decor. The tool boxes for storage are a great idea. Love the way this comes together!
Scott, you have ignited my creativity. Thank you. But mostly, we've taken in blind, deaf dogs at 'home' so why don't I have one to love and value me here? I'll start looking. Thanks again. :)
Interesting configuration inside, thanks
Been a while since I've seen such a resourcefully creative person...thank you !
Absolutely love it!
Man if you guys need a voice over guy for Bob, this is your guy!
The canvas cabinet doors and the crates are very creative, functional and lightweight, perfect for that box truck.. Scott is very handy at tricking out his truck! and a great dog to go along with him..
What an incredibly creative van! I live in a house and I was taking notes throughout the video on things that I'm going to try out!
You seem so kind Scott and Barney definitely is the best. Happy travels from England😊
I love that guy. Really uses things that others would say is trash. Genius
nice build! lol, dude knows what's up., a box van makes the *best* mobile tiny house platform...also, being cheap and different is way better than wasting money and being same-ol'-same-ol', respect.
This van is exactly what I would want--would need a door from living area to cab--I didn't see if he had one. He's got a great life and bless him for adopting the elderly, blind dog.
Scott is an good example of reuse, reduce, and recycle, using cookie sheets, old belts, etc. 👍Kudos to Scott. I also like the use of the crates as cabinets because they are lightweight and ventilated, and the canvas doors are cheap, also lightweight. Thanks for introducing Scott to us and safe travels, Scott!
I loved the cabinets with framed canvas for doors. That was genius.
I love his build and all his innovative, cheap ideas. And his little rescue puppy.
My favorite part was the low cost!
Question: what kind of mileage do you get and how sound is the engine and transmission?
14 on the highway
Runs good
I've got some good info on doing "box-truck" builds... When I think about a vehicle it needs to have at least 15" tires b/c the smaller
ones have less clearances if you get off on a gravel road. Some of these trucks come w/ a large gate that flips up when traveling &
it provides added security when it is up. It's all in your imagination & I TY for the video(s)........ peace & GB ALL
If he doesn't have a TH-cam he should. His ideas are ingenious and he's charismatic and likes people. Loved it ❤
This guy is brilliant not wasting anything...always finding ways to recycle or up-cycle. I really like how he repurposed old belts to hold the lids!
Just love love the canvasses as doors.
Great video. So happy for him - he’s living his dream in a very cozy and well thought “home”.
Spamtastic!! I love his creativity and dash of whimsy! I'm glad to know we're sharing space on this planet : ) And I especially love that he adopted an older dog....
Awesome set-up..
Scott is awesome - so much talent, creativity and such a positive attitude to life. His pup is the same age and my little pooch, I'm so pleased he's giving the little fella a great life❤❤❤❤❤❤
So many great ideas! I really like the crate cabinets. ❤️
I really need to find a way to acquire a cargo van like that. I've been watching these videos to get various ideas for a while. I've even looked into getting a cargo trailer, but everything is just so expensive and it takes a while to save up any money. For a while I've even been working toward getting what I need to build a cabin on the back of my truck, but then I'd lose any room to haul anything I need day to day. So many great ideas, it's difficult to figure out which way to go lol I love his crate cabinets. I'd have never thought about that.
Great interview.
Turkey Spam! Yes!
I love this guy
Great build.
Barney is adorable! Rescued senior special needs dogs are the best!
I love this man!
Ingenious! Loved most every aspect of this build. It's very practical and works well. Also loved seeing his adopted companion, Marti.
Very well thought out I like all the repurposed stuff my favorite was the cabinet doors
Now this guy is thinking! I love it!!!
I love the ingenuity. Scott has managed to make a comfortable, lightweight home that looks really cool. Awesome thinking outside the box. Hope I will get the chance to meet him on the road sometime.
This guy is a genius. So, so clever. Incredible.
What a great build, Scott! I really love what you did with it. I like the creative solutions you used to build cases and closets. It is perfect in its imperfectness, if you understand what I mean. EVerything just fits in right, and the whole thing works as if it was meant to be. I like also how you decorated everything with some personal items, pictures etc - makes it so much more like a home. I just felt right at home when I watched this. You did real well. What a great way to get the full experience of life after retiring. It all airs adventure and a zest for life, as if you were still a young man going on a fantastic journey - I love that! Thanks for sharing Scott and Brian! All the best to you both - Jason
My favourite part isn't even this supercool van but the owner - and his doggy, of course. All three of them unique in their own ways ;-)
Yet, as you asked, in my POV inside the van everything is perfect, and full of excellent ideas. The canvas doors might balance the weight of the tool boxes, spam cans are good for everything, and so on - every detail is amazing, that whole build is a gem. What a unique, wonderful home, thanks for sharing!
I love this! Repurposing unusual items creatively and still looking good! Ive thought about using tool boxes also for cabinets/storage. I'm not there yet but i really want to live in an RV with my 3 dogs. they're the best company 😂
