I noticed that small Sonic has a lot more frames when it comes to animations. I think this is because the small sprite takes up less space in the game's data, allowing more frames to take up the same amount of space regular sonic would take up.

I think its because the sprite is from sonic cd and sonic cd is on a better console than the genesis (sega cd)

Making sonic smaller is the fix that old sonic games need. That way you have more room to predict enemies

Actually tiny sonic comes from a level of sonic cd, they just adapted it to sonic 1

I have relieved that after a few hits on the final boss the electric things look difrint it's helpful to know how much hp the boss has left.

Imagine a whole comic about this (hopefully not archie) where for the entire series, sonic is small because eggman did the ol’ shink ray on him and now sonic gotta go through everything that eggman throws at him while being chibi sized. That’ll be pretty cool if I do say so myself.

The Sonic CD sprites of Small Sonic were used as well as the jump sound. Also it takes three hits to kill a badnik.

I don't have much Nostalgia for Sonic 1 but I have a lot for Sonic 2
This is what happens when Sonic gets a mini mushroom.
Seems that battling enemies is trickier since everything takes twice as many hits (so, bosses take 16 hits instead of 8), but otherwise, being Mini Sonic seems to make things easier, especially with collecting the Chaos Emeralds.
(7:12) Wow, somehow you didn't get smashed by that weight, but instead it passed through you and then you landed on it.
(11:11) LOL, that sneak attack. And yeah, that enemy sprite tends to glitch easily, even in the original unmodified game.

I think the final boss's damage boost is longer than the other bosses so you can only hit him once like you said.
