Maybe my perspective as a retired craftsman gives me a different outlook, but you're being very smart to aggressively get to the 'skeleton' of the damage. Otherwise you potentially miss a serious problem that would put you and Daniela (I miss her) at risk far from shore. You obviously know this, but my respect anyway, Huub.
Thanks Dave! Trying to do things right!
Look forward to every Sunday just to see the positive progress and attitude. Good job Huub
Thanks Kevin!!!
Huub, fantastic effort to produce great results! Congrats on you new vessel!
I watched your channel from when U started building the house. I'm so happy all your hard work payed of buddy. Keep rocking in your free world 🤟
Thanks Andy! I will :)
Making a lot of progress while Dani is away. Stay on point! You guys will end up with a nice boat for all the sweat equity you put in. Ignore the negative Nellies.
Very happy for you. You will be living on that comfortably for a long time. Looking forward to seeing Danni back. Hope her studies are going well.
I agree!!!
Getting after these repair objectives........ THE RIGHT WAY! This project is a labor of love and the repair and assessment is on track to buying you and Daniela peace of mind when sailing the open ocean. I am anxious to hear some of the repair advice/options on the damaged keel when the time comes......... soon it would appear. I miss you and Daniela together. Be well Huub, I admire your perseverance.
These timelapses are so soothing to watch. Great choices with the music.
Thank you ! :)
Great job, tedious but coming along nicely and well done Huub! All the best to Dani!

Super impressed at just how much you have accomplished big well
Done 👍 😊
Mi queridos naveganres estoy super contento con vuestro gran avance i perseverancia de sunueva adquisicion de este catamara...adelante ..unabrazo grande😊😊
My god Huub, that’s a lot of grinding !! Well done ;) Cheers Ray (UK)
She’s coming along quite nicely. Good work.
As I watched you this morning I got a real sense of deja vu remembering that it wasn't that long ago you did this very same sanding on Lemonada but this time it is more difficult because you are doing a lot of it on you back. If you keep collecting all of the tools and junk that the other boaters keep giving you then when you finally put your boat in the water it is going to sink due to all of the dead weight. 🙂
Haha! Yes, taking off all the antifouling is a different game then just adding an extra layer for sure!!!
Its beautiful Huub
Nice video Huub, you are very busy with very tedious work. You are a head worker, happy to see you take time though to get in the water for some swim time.
Yes! So nice to have a little break :)
Bravo 😊
Sail on
Cheers
Your making the best decision as to clean off all of the anti fouling to make a clean surface to work from.
Agree! The best thing to start with a new boat with!
Looking good . Remember that keel is what you will put most of the weight of the boat on ig you ground her one day on a shoal . Build it stronger than it was - not that hard .
I have sanded the bottom of a few boats same as you are doing . No one understands how hard you are working unless they have done it themselves . Well done looks great . At the end of the day your arms are so tired that lifting a beer hurts LOL
Great job Huub.
Keep going 💪
Heck yeah! Bump. Lookin good Huub keep going. 😎👍
Grinding is really hard work. But it has to be done. And you're doing it well!
Thanks :) trying to do things right
Woohoo, you're having too much fun! 😜🥳
Good progress huub, will not be long before your on the water, look after yourself eat well sleep well 😊
Agree! Couple months :)
Greetings from South Africa.
Mitch
Wat super dat je die bootspullen kreeg, kun je altijd gebruiken met een opknap klus👍⚓😊
Ja echt wel!
Thats a lot of work ...
When will Danny return? ....BTW; nice job on the boat....
I only put a single coat of the softest ablative on every 2 yrs. This stops the buildup of puting on multiple coats every time. It power washes off nicely
Goed bezig Huub, je schiet lekker op 👍🏻💪🏻
Hi, watching you expose the original waterline I wonder if you are going to address the weight distribution on the boat and are also going to address the overloading with equipment and additions especially at the aft end of the boat. If you can bring her back to the original lines or somewhat closer than she will probably be a faster boat with better balance. Cheers Peter.
Thanks!
How will you support the boat when you start cutting into the hull? Will the hull stands cause the hull and boat to twist?
Looks like your are making a lot of progress with the power tools. Are you going to get enough done to do some sailing after hurricane season?
You're doing a great job,,,gotta say it,you look just like a young Jürgen prochnow, the actor from Das boat let's hope you stay on the surface 😄
Hahaha!
get strategy to find all the issues and repaid them correctly.
Too bad you’re having to remove the blue/green barrier coat. I guess getting the bottoms down to gel coat is the best way to go.
I think its time to call her Africa Dream, she might be mad at you if you dont 😂 and africa is the dream if you gana circum nav 😁
❤❤
I wish "Boat Surveyor" would comment , whether what Huub is doing is crazy & useless, as it will never be blue water safe, or whether Huub can make it happen? Either way Huub makes interesting videos.
I can make it happen ;)
It looks like the starboard keel is not damaged, other than cosmetic wear and tear. Is that true? If so, that gives you a lot of relief.
Correct. Only port
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Does Dani have a channel where we can see what she is up to?
How u gonna fix the keel?
How do you do the sections on which the boat is standing on?
Where does all the sanding dust end up?
Huub
Does both engines run well?
And, what major equipment must be repaired/replaced?
Engines and equipment is fine. Need more solar for sure! That blew off....
✌🏽✌🏽
😎
👍👍🍧🍦
Does vibration hurt your palms?
This is a low vibration sander. But yes after a week of sanding i do feel it haha
@@HuubVlogs I see. You shout try Anti-vibration gloves, man.
should
first 😃
That sander is weak asf.
A
Hello Huub you are very lonely my friend
You should pay a local teenager to sand the hull for you... this is a waste of your time.
A bit booooring.
So, a 16 minute video ends up being a 4 minute video after skipping all of the sanding BS. Fun.
Two months of sanding the hull, this is BS. That boat is trash and a waste of his time and money. He will be sweating in the sun finding problem after problem for at least two years before he give up, like most of these wracked hurricane boats.
Let's see if you are an oracle of predicted knowledge? He is a man who gives a lot of himself to the journey ! Hard work generally pays well!
This is simply not true, the boat has minimal damage and this type of boat is super easy to repair.
@@GeorgePie-li6hw Super Easy for Who ? Him ? How long will take ? It has passed two months, Will it take two years? It is an old boat and will keep getting older. How much did he pay and what will it cost in time and money. He could have gotten better boat for less that floats
It is journey, not a destination.
