Realy like his performance! He don’t rush with the beautiful theme and melodies, but show his brilliant technique in the fast passages that really can go as fast as possible. And then he also expresses the music in his whole body. 🙏👏👏😀
This performance is one of the most stoic I’ve ever seen Lang Lang - especially at the coda; it’s probably a testament to how much concentration that coda demands.
Lang lang played significant parts of Rachmaninoff 2nd piano concerto without looking to the piano. But he was looking on it the entire coda. really shows how difficult that coda truly is.
It’s also because the coda requires extreme jumps at great speed. Unless you’re Nobuyuki Tsujii, you can’t afford to look away even for a split-second.
Got this randomly on my recommended and I just had to compare it to one of Horowitz's versions. I would gladly advise anyone who thinks this is good to listen to Horowitz's version to understand why so many people hate this.
Awesome sound effect. If that’s a broken string then he did an amazing job covering it up in the coda where the same note comes up (bars 240-241) But what am I saying, of course he could do that.
Well, how we want to be better than Chopin, to play like no one else has played, to pull out some previously unknown nuances. And the result is vulgar and tasteless. It's a pity.
How could you say that ? Music is all about subjectivity and wether you like it or not is not a valid reason to define it as bad. His interpretation is in my opinion magnificent and one of the greatest. He breaks free from the burdens of the music sheets and play it the way he wants with an incredible amount of sensitivity as all artists should. Calling it vulgar and tasteless is an immense lack of respect and open mindness. I wonder how you can properly appreciate music without even understanding or accepting it's diversity. Please consider it and try to be nicer, especialy when someone puts his soul in his work. Edit : you might wanna checkout his interpretation of the 4th ballad and think again if he is tasteless
@@gimli4030 I do not dispute the almost transcendent virtuosity of his playing, his ability to attract hundreds of thousands in the open air, his contribution to the popularization of the classics, his charm, hurricane energy and temperament. But this is not why I love Gould, Gilels, Argerich, Sokolov, Sultanov.
I think the current culture and the culture the virtuoso grew up in also has something to do with it. I wouldn't ever dare to criticize him though. You have to have something you were born with to play these pieces. It's almost as if, if I could play so well my ego would probably be the bragadoches, distasteful current that some people would hate and some would love.?.?.?

8:59 the way he makes the parallel octave g ring throughout that entire auditorium
Came for the coda, stayed for the whole thing😌
The same...🤠

True. Even Seong Jin Cho has more expression
I wish people wouldn’t play the coda at that speed, it is written Presto con Fuoco, which is about half the speed
So true, most people play the coda to quickly in my opinion, i like the speed which rousseau plays it at.
I guess you don't know what presto means.
Best performance I’ve ever heard of this piece. Just wow!

Bravo!
I love his play style!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 standing ovation 👏🏻
He is playing the coda part with no problems. Wow
Yes all trained concert pianist do that. Otherwise they wouldnt meet the standards to perform it.
@@antenym8947 yes I know that, but I meant that he is flying threw it and that's impressive.
@@antenym8947 well not really there have been many of concert pianist that have made mistakes during the coda
Chopin: Ballade no. 1 é lindíssima!! Este pianista e este piano é de tal forma que como se diz: "NO COMMENTS". Disfrutem....

Awesome performance, but what the heck happened at 5:32? seems distorted

How does this video has no comments?
No idea. Incredible video.
Everyone listens to his other ballade video
@@devplaying5475 maybe yes. I love Chopen's music, it takes me to another dimension of time.
Não entendo as críticas, ele é criativo, diferente, mas se não formos diferentes seremos copias
Tan difícil de expresar lo que inspira está melodía 😵💫 9:59 !!!!!

He’s 41
Wait really bruh looks 30-something I'm surprised

I think Lan Lan belong to the big club of super classic star
What a pity. The broken string seems a disturbing factor. Just check his album: Lang Lang at the Albert Hall. You'll see the difference...
He looks crazy 💀😭
Doveva fare il centometrista, non il pianista
미쳤다 최고다. 역시
3:10 is the key of this piece! Bravo 🎉
Fryderyk.........Forgive him....
What are you talking about
@@LordVile2718 The Coda is Disgustingly performed, like the Final Part of the piece. Its terrible.

I saw better performance on youtube for this piece

Thanks, Lang Lang! SUPER! Loved it!
So brilliant in ruining the conception of this poetic ballade ! A rehearsed scherzo all the way long 🤦♂🤦♂
