  • This video covers how to use a multimeter to measure AC and DC voltage, how to measure resistance, how to test for continuity, how to check capacitance, and how to measure amperage!
    A digital multimeter or DMM is a great tool for the home hobbyist. Knowing how to operate them is a must to do any small electrical work. In this video we will walk through each feature of the Fluke 107, which is my multimeter of choice and should be great for anyone starting out.

    This was a very well explained video. And very important to know. I blew up a meter once by not paying attention to what I was doing. I learned all this when I got my Ham license and even though I don't use one often it's still an important skill to have.

      Thanks! I learned it all on one of those RadioShack kits back in the 90s. Not a lot of people remember those but you could build radios and other things.

    Wow great presentation Smackey, i never have been good at using one of those but with your explanation this will really help me to learn how to. Thanks a lot for taking the time to make this video and letting us know which meter is the best to use..

    Great informative video. I definitely going to have to get a fluke instead of my cheapie. Saving this one in my playlist ‘cause I’m sure I will be returning to it! Thanks!

      Thanks Big Stick Stangs! My first Fluke too. I was surprised at the quality difference having them side by side.

    I think a Clamp meter would be a better tool especially one that does DC AC amps.

    Is there a way I can check a parasitic draw on my vehicle with a Fluke 110?

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yea. You need to measure the current off the battery with everything off. You measure the current flowing through the battery with the doors shut, just sitting normally. That would tell you how much current/watts are being consumed when just sitting. From there, I would measure current through the fuse box to each system to see where the draw is coming from.
